FRANKENSTEIN VS WITCH

Posted by Unknown on Wednesday, September 30, 2009

My client came in today and said I could do whatever I wanted on her nails so this is what happened! I used acrylic in nebula, lime rind, and purple passion. I alternated different colors on the nails and tips. I also used a frankenstein and witch fimo clay from kennickkreations.com. Of course I had to add a few dots here and there. HAPPY HAUNTING!

These nails are done with northern lights and then I used purple passion acrylic at the smile line and faded it up into the white. I used clay witches on the ring fingers from none other than kennickkreations.com.

JACK O'LANTERN NAILS

Posted by Unknown

These are acrylic nails in nebula black with ezflow candy corn orange at the tip. I added fimo clay jack o'lanterns from kennickkreations.com on the ring fingers. My client was feeling wild today so we went even further and added black and orange dots with polish at the smile line.

Finger Paints Yellow Bikini

Posted by Unknown

So far this is the only yellow in my collection. I tried China Glaze Solar Power which is beautiful but not with my skintone. Yellow Bikini works well though. This is 3 coats. It was a little thick and goopy but I hear that is how most yellows behave. The ring and pinky have Nail Tek Foundation II for a matte effect. Doesn't look so great with this polish. I was wearing this and I put on a red skirt and a blue shirt. I kept looking in the mirror trying to figure out what was so strange, when I finally realized that I looked like Wonder Woman going in for a day at the office. I changed clothes.
Thanks for reading.

OPI Gotta Get Pink!

Posted by Unknown on Tuesday, September 29, 2009

Another US exclusive! Only found in Ulta's around Valentines this year.

I love Gotta Get Pink, this is my kind of nude.

It is a really nice formula, nothing wrong with it at all. I really hope you girls were able to find a bottle :) If not, OPI Let Them Eat Rice Cake is really quite close, just a bit more nude toned. Not much more nude toned though!

Chanel Jade Nail Collection

Posted by Unknown

Ah, the color all us green nail fanatics have been waiting for. After much anticipation, it finally came out and I ordered it right away. And I can honestly tell you.....nothing special. We've got a lot of nice mint greens out, MAC's Peppermint Patti, OPI Damone Roberts 1968, etc. Sure when you let the sun shine on it, you can see the very subtle hints of shimmer, but who's always out in the sun anyways? And for $25? *heart drops*

Jade - application was okay, a little thick. For Chanel prices I would've expected their application to be flawless. But all their nail polishes are thick and gooey which makes it really tough too apply plus it's not heavily pigmented. This was done in three coats.

Jade Rose - A dusty rose pink. PLEASE ignore that dent I made, my nails weren't dry yet and yea... anyways, OK remind me again why did I buy this? It's more pink in person but I took this picture indoors, which makes it appear nude ish. The shimmers on it are barely noticeable.

This collection sort of reminds me of MAC's peppermint patti and their seasonal peach. The colors match up quite well, hmm...competition?

Nearly Plaid & Barefoot

Posted by Unknown

Wow! 336 votes in the People's Choice Contest so far! Haven't voted yet? Click here. Then come back to see this week's nail art design.

Haircare Discounters, an online company who sells the entire line of OPI polishes (for less than you'd find it in stores - links in the sidebars) was kind enough to send me a couple of free polishes this month. OPI "Barefoot in Barcelona" was one of my free bottles, a sort of dark rose pink that I think is a wonderful neutral. I was late getting to my manicure this week, and tired, so I decided to use my black and white migi pens to create a simple design.
First, the base - two coats of OPI "Barefoot in Barcelona". It's been awhile since I dug into my OPI collection, but this formula is to die for! Notice my cuticles (yeah, aside from the serious dry skin)? Most of my polish jobs are messy to start, but this polish was just a dream to control going on. Far less mess than normal.
Then, after using my thumbnail as "practice" to see how far I'd take the design, I decided on just two offset crosses in sort of a beginning plaid design. I started with white.
Then added black on top. If you try this, you can do it while the polish is still wet. Just make sure not to let the tip of the pen touch your nail or the paint.
A couple coats of top coat, and it's all done (you can see my "experimental" plaid thumbnail here too). Remember that most nail art colors "drag" or bleed when you go to apply top coat, so do the first coat in one swipe over the artwork, not letting the brush actually touch the nail. After that dries, you can brush the final coat on as normal.

My lines aren't all that straight - my hands were shaky from a day's worth of physical labor. But I don't think it turned out too bad. My husband says it reminds him of some popular art style.

Next week starts four weeks of Halloween nail art, starting with some brand new Halloween decals the folks at Cina sent me to show you. They'll be available exclusively at Sally Beauty Supply during the month of October...come back next Tuesday for a peek!

Black Lace Manicure

Posted by Unknown on Monday, September 28, 2009

Recently i have been crazy about black, white and orange nail colors. Is it a good sign?
I really enjoy this look, i think it is gentle and stylish. I again was inspired my Boudoir collection from CC.I mean, seriously, just look at those gems - aren't they stunning? And i really love that even with the top coat over it, they are still super sparkly. Again, it is a little piece of mirror in every gem.

Rescue Beauty Lounge Fall 2009 Blogger Created Collection

Posted by Unknown

Happy Monday everyone. I'm so happy to have this Monday off to catch up on my sleep and all my school work :( But I took the time out to make a post on the Rescue Beauty Lounge Bloggers nail polish. I think this was one heck of a collection because these 3 colors were NEVER seen before (at least to me)

Scrangie - a blue green shimmer with purple base. It looks gorgeous and my picture does no justice for it.

Orbis Non Suffucit - grey greened creme. I don't have any greens like this at all. And knowing me, I have all the possible green nail polishes out there (except for Nars Zulu) and this sure isn't like any other greens I have.

Mismas - purple creme. This is ALMOST ALMOST ALMOST close to the perfect purple creme I've always wanted. But nevertheless it's a cute simple gorgeous shade!

And adding Color Club's Fashion Addcit with Zebra konad, makes it look so amazing. I really like the Zebra designs :)

That's all I have for you today. More coming up!
