Give Me Moor!

Posted by Unknown on Saturday, July 31, 2010

Wow, really? Really? How did nobody's offensiveness radar go off when you named a nail polish after a race of people, colored it to approximate their skin tone, and then asked to possess them? Follow-up question: if you have a white nail polish, do you need to keep this one next to it at all times so that you don't wake up one day to find your white polish bottle lying mysteriously broken underneath a tiny little pillow? In this case, I think OPI named neither wisely nor too well.

Granted, it is conceivably possible that OPI was going with another definition of "moor" (although not likely, seeing as this comes from the "Espana" collection). If we are talking about land forms, though, a moor is about as unpleasant and useless as you can get. Does whoever named this really want a desolate, infertile, and somewhat soggy piece of English countryside? Nor does swapping from "Moor" to "moor" really improve the romantic connotations in either healthiness or happy endingness.

Let's just agree to cut our losses and stick with the verb, then, shall we? I'll moor you to whatever you want. Just promise to stay there.

Krasey Beauty goes Crazy for Zoya Nail Polish

Posted by Unknown on Friday, July 30, 2010

Krasey Beauty just received the Zoya Nail Polish Wicked Collection for Fall 2010 and she can't help but think of equally enchanting Broadway show Wicked!
"Well Elphaba shouldn’t have all of the fun, right? Thanks to those fabulously mischievous polish fairies, the wicked comes to us via six new nail lacquer shades. Conjuring up images of mischievous sprites, disco dancers, and delightfully daring females, Zoya’s Wicked collection for Fall has us all squealing with delight as we embrace (and wear) the Wicked."-Krasey Beauty

This review is super cute and wickedly amazing so read the entire post here!

Red Hot Diamonds

Posted by Unknown on Thursday, July 29, 2010

Hey y'all! This design was inspired by several different youtube users. Creating this design is one of the things that made me decide on the theme for my youtube contest. Please be sure to enter! I'll do a seperate post for that. Im so sorry I am behind posting here on my blog. I also posted an update video that you can check out. In that I explain what is keeping me from posting as of late.

Anyways...let's get to the inspiration for this design! First thing that made me want to try this design was the red & yellow mylar flakes I received from designernailvideos contest. I could not wait to try the awesome prizes I won in her contest! don't forget that you can get most of the products I won from her website Designer Nail Supply! The ladies that inspired my abstract design were configure1973 for her suberb freehand and also madamluck for turning me on to the $ tree nail art stripers. the half moon tips were inspired by andreajk182, she also has an online nail supply store The Rock Star Nails so be sure to check her out!

Recently, I have subbed to a lovely lady hairtrends4u who has a channel focusing on hair, fashion and general life advice. She also has a website Hairtrends4u where she offers wigs, handbags, shoes, accessories & more!!! Be sure to visit =D
Her outfits of the day got me inspired to do a design in the colors yellow & red and I wanted to make a design for her that would match some of her outfits since she is celebrated reachin 1,000 subbies =D . She also inspired the swarovski crystals because she calls her subbies Diamonds.

Another huge inspiration for this design was dollface22772s recent super hot Bonfire design! Soon as I saw it the mylar popped right in my head. God I really love her work and she is cool as ice =D She always inspires us all on youtube and I am still giddy at the fact that she made partner! One thing I was sad about was that I had to take off that falling hearts design a week early cs I wont have time to do my nails this weekend cs I gotta work & me & hubby got a date to the Bob Marly festival =D YAY Roots, rock, reggae mon LOL But anyway...she sells the cutest vintage style jewlry in her Etsy store Littlest Charm Factory. So check it out. Ive got my eye on that angry skull ring. Feels so tokidoki =D

Well ladies I hope you all enjoy this design. There's only one thing I don't like about it...my stupid freehand reminds me of mcdonalds XDDD or ketsup & mustard hehehe. Can you tell Im sleep deprived???

Zoya Edyta

Zoya Edyta immediately jumped right into my top five favorites! It's a dark pine green loaded with glass-flecked, gold and green shimmer. Super sexy and gorgeous and I only needed ONE, easily applied coat! The formula was superb and a little strange. I felt like I was applying liquid crushed velvet to my nails! The first three pictures were taken in full sunlight and the last two in the shade. This is a must have in my opinion!!!!

Here are my overall thoughts on both of Zoya's fall collections, Wicked & Wonderful.

Lippmann Collection 'All That Jazz' Color Trio (Nordstrom Exclusive)

Posted by Unknown

Hey guys, I'm up early because I'm going on a "mini vacation" for four days. So I decided to do a quick update while waiting for my boyfriend. I have the Lippmann Collection All The Jazz from Nordstrom.

This collection was a huge improvement compared to their previous one, in which I even forgot the name (Ruby Red Slippers was in it). Because I loved all three of them!

Here they are:

Razzle Dazzle - raspberry jelly base with raspberry glitters. 2 coats. Sorry for the blurry pic but my camera was running on low battery when I took this. I was too lazy to charge -_-

Lady Sings the Blues - dark navy blue base with silver/blue glitters and hex glitters. 3 coats. I love how the blue hex shows even with the dark base.

Some Enchanted Evening - a clear base with salmon pink glitters and hex. 2 coats. I decided to layer this over white (RBL's Underwear) to give it a more "softer" look. I like how it turned out. :)

And that is all I have for now, gotta run! See ya'll in four days :)

Dotty Purple

Posted by Unknown on Tuesday, July 27, 2010

This was supposed to be purple with a yellow diamond pattern, per a Twitter poll last night. Needless to say, the diamond pattern didn't work out so well, as you'll see later. But I think the dotted design turned out pretty well.

I started with two coats Urban Decay "Meltdown", a deep, shimmery royal purple.
Then I got out the 3-D Nail Art Pen in Yellow that Nail Art Delights was kind enough to send me free with my last order. I thought it looked like fun.
I used the pen to create a lattice/diamond pattern on my left hand...but I had a hard time controlling both the flow and the application. The paint was very thick, and I think it may be acrylic rather than nail polish. I think you'll agree it didn't turn out well.
Yeah. Needless to say, I grabbed the polish remover and started over. Once I got back to the "purple" stage, I took a bottle of Zoya "Creamy" and my handy dotting tool, and started playing with dots. I tried to make a diamond lattice design, but it jumbled together.
I decided just dotted stripes would be fine, and finished off my nails with those.
Two coats Seche Vite and some cleanup...and voila, dotty purple nails.
This flash photo is true to the actual colors. The photo at the very top is without a flash, and looks a little more blue than it should.

Next week, something gold or green, I think. Until then, happy polishing!

A Zoya Nail Polish First

Posted by Unknown

KONADomania has just used her first Zoya Nail Polish and she loves us! Her first Zoya Nail Polish was in Isla and we have to say that Zoya Nail Polish in Isla is a great color to start your Zoya Nail Polish affair.

"It's a gorgeous shimmery red, the finish sometimes looks as it were metallic though it's not really. It's a 2-coater and it applied perfectly and it dried also pretty fast. I had no troubles applying it, the pics you see aren't pre-cleaned.

This is my very first Zoya nail polish I've tried and I have to say I'm so pleased with the formula and the brush! Great!"-KONADomania

Zoya Nail Polish and The Daily Nail in Vegas!

Posted by Unknown

The Daily Nail is a really fun blog that shows a different nail design each day and we got to meet the writer (and nail artist) at Comsoprof!

"I had the pleasure and unique opportunity to meet Zoya Reyzis, founder and creator of Zoya Nail Polish! She was SO amazing to talk to, and it was so awesome to hear about her life, why and how she developed the Zoya product line, and how the names of the polishes came about! Did you know that when Zoya first started the line, she named all the polishes for famous women in history?! How amazing is that? I'm a true history nerd, so that makes me like Zoya even more! (is that possible?!) (check out after today's post for more Cosmoprof/Zoya!)"-The Daily Nail
