Black Onyx + M24 + OMG

Posted by Unknown on Friday, January 2, 2009

Holy inversed-tiger! I could wear this one for a week!

This awesome manicure is made up of two coats of OPI's Black Onyx, Konad plate M24 and China Glaze's OMG.

The reason why Black Onyx always gets used is because it's my only black :D It looks fantastic alone and extremely fantastic when used with the Konad stamps. So this is just two coats of it.

Who would've guessed that the polishes from the OMG collection would have worked excellent with Konad?! I saw Scrangie's photo using OMG over black, I thought she might have used two coats of it, but all is ok with just one, woohoo! I'm just about to go off and try all my other polishes from the OMG collection. I have QT, IDK, LOL, BFF, 2NITE... um...

Here's a close-up! The sun is hiding behind the clouds today, so sadly the holo isn't showing it's true awesomeness.

Resolutions 2009

Posted by Unknown

Happy New Year! I hope everyone had a wonderful celebration, with gorgeous sparkle-y nails.

Last year, I made a New Year's resolution to do a manicure every week. I wanted to keep my nails in better shape, polished, filed, and chip-free (which is nearly impossible if I don't actually pay attention to them for weeks on end). Out of that resolution, this blog was eventually born, and my nails have looked good all year long.

So this year, I made just a few more resolutions regarding my nails, to continue moving forward with better nail/skin care:

  • Make a habit of daily cuticle care.
  • Pedicure 2x month
  • Research and try out water-based polishes/removers
And I'll add to that to take better care of my dogs' nails as well - they both need weekly manicures just as much as I do, and I just bought a Pedi-Paws file that works wonderfully on their doggie toenails.

I haven't managed to fit in many pedicures this past year, so even if I accomplish nothing else, I want that to be a priority. My toenails grow as fast as my fingernails, and need more attention than they get.

So those are my nail goals for 2009 - anyone else making nail-related resolutions this year?

ZOYA Indigo

Posted by Unknown on Thursday, January 1, 2009

Here is Zoya's Indigo from the Downtown collection at two coats.

To be honest I was really disappointed when I was applying Poshe... I was hoping it would make Indigo into what I was expecting but the sparkles in Indigo's bottle didn't translate on to the nail. Don' get me wrong, Indigo is a fantastic colour (when you know what to expect) and applies lovely, but it just makes you sad when the sparkles are a no-go.

Fortunately I found a way to make Indigo sparkley! I added Text Me, Text You, just one coat on top of Indigo. Success! It creates the look of Indigo's bottle! Yay! I'm a happy camper now :D

But now that I look back on the just Indigo mani, I quite like what I see... Pretty navy shimmer in a vampy blue based polish... Mmmm....

What do you think about Indigo? Do you prefer it on it's own or with TMTY on top?
