"Where My Peeps At?!"

Posted by Unknown on Tuesday, March 22, 2011

This is completely not related to nail polish at all, but I discovered it recently and I think everyone should try it! And it fits with the "season" I suppose.

I hope everyone has seen "Peeps" before. The marshmallow treats that are coated in colored sugar, shaped like little ducks? Or bunnies? They usually only show up around the different holidays, in shapes that coincide with the holiday (Easter = bunnies, Christmas = snowmen, Halloween = bats, etc) By themselves, they taste "ah-ight." Not spectacular enough to go run out and buy them, but not revolting enough to turn one down when it's offered to you. UNTIL NOW!

I read in a magazine article to ROAST them! Yeah, just like a marshmallow over a campfire. The article mentioned it's fun with kids because they puff up and the shapes get all distorted and funny looking. So my mom and I tried it. And it's DELICIOUS! The sugar on the outside carmelizes, and the inside turns extra gooey and melt-in-your-mouth.

BEFORE:
 AFTER:
This was after just a short time over heat, even longer and it gets puffed up & browned.

So you must try it and tell me what you think. This is the only way that makes a Peep worth eating in my book. Oh, and of course be aware of the possibility that it's going to be roughly the temperature of molten lava when you put it in your mouth. Be careful!
