I did this whack-a-do mixed animal print with a sponged background. I know I've done this kind of color combo before, but it's more than just a one hit wonder! I do wish I had chosen lighter background shades so that the print would show up better... but I'll sport it for a day or so anyway!
What do you think?
Here is a step by step if you're interested!
- I painted the entire nail with Orly's Ancient Jade first because that was the least opaque of the 3 colors.
Then I sponged on the other two colors with this little eye shadow sponger-thingy.
I got them at my local Walgreen's drugstore by the makeup brushes. The pack of 12 cost maybe $2.50? That may seem high to some, but you get more than 12 uses out of them. They each are double sided so you can get four different colors on with the same applicator. That makes 48 sponges! Well worth it to me.
- Then I sponged on Zoya Breezi & Mira randomly.
- Kiss Nail Art Striper in black for some zebra over the green.
I do realize that there is a Konad image plate (m78) that has a full image of mixed animal print. I don't have this plate, so I had to improvise. But you could definitely use that instead of free handing!
- I used black acrylic paint for the leopard spots (just because it was easier at the time). Leopard spots over the purple, random tiny dots and shapes over the blue.
So I want to ask this again now that I have more followers. Do you guys prefer simple images of my nail art? Or do you prefer tutorials?
