Disney's Cinderella Inspired French Tips

Posted by Unknown on Monday, February 20, 2012

Cinderella took me a while to figure out just what I wanted to do. She was suggested by 2 anonymous followers. How does this fit with my other Disney Princess themed nail art?

I started with China Glaze Innocence because it's a great sheer pink that helps disguise any staining. ;)

Then I applied 1 coat of NYC Love Letters for some extra pink shimmer.

Then I stamped the image from Konad M71 using white special Konad polish. (This image was really hard to line up straight! Some of them are a little crooked.)

Then I freehanded Essie Coat Azure along an existing line on the stamp.

Then added a small blue rhinestone into a wet layer of topcoat!
I wanted them to represent the bottom hem of her ballgown that has the white ruffle underneath. I hope you like them!

Ulta3 = NYC and a Ulta3 yellow comparison

Posted by Unknown on Sunday, October 2, 2011

Aussie ladies may have recently noticed large tubs of NYC polishes in their local Woolworths.  After seeing the colours I instantly new they were exact dupes of the Ulta3 polishes, but with different names and labels.  They are both distributed by the Heat Group.

One evening after work, I decided to do something totally mindless and match up the NYC colors to their dupe in the Ulta3 range.  Not every Ulta3 colour is an NYC, clearly as there are more Ulta3 colours than NYCs.

For polishes I didn't see in person, I used the list of NYC polishes on the Crush Cosmetics site. I know I may not have got them all matched perfectly, especially all the shades of pinks and magenta's, but I think this is pretty close.  If you know of any errors, please let me know.

Now after that very long and boring list of polishes, I thought I should do a quick nail picture to make the post more interesting.  Although I'm sure that long and boring list will become a useful resource over time.

Here is a comparison picture of the four yellows in the Ulta3 range.  The two middle ones, the new release Frangipani and Honolulu are very similar, but Frangipani is a smidgen brighter .  Doesn't Citrus look amazing here!

Nail Mail - Winnings!

Posted by Unknown on Thursday, September 29, 2011

You may remember the franken contest that my friend Laura did recently. Seen here. I was so happy to find out that I had won! Thanks to all that voted for my franken! Here are the polishes I won. Love them all. :) Excellent contest Laura and excellent polish prizes.

First up is LA Colors Glistening Purple. This was 4-5 coats and still visible nail line. It would make great for layering more so than on it's own.

LA Colors Aqua Crystals. This glitter was much more dense. This swatch is only 3 coats.

Same size, shape, and color glitter as Milani One Coat Glitters - Blue Flash. Definite dupe, but requires a few more coats to reach the same opacity.

NYC Purple Pizzazz Frost - this was 3 coats. A little craptastic formula. I had trouble with it being thin and then lots of cuticle drag. Along with slow dry time. It's a lovely color though, so I'm still happy.

OPI Jade is the New Black. This color was on my wishlist before and it's just as wonderful as I imagined. My favorite color is green, but there are not too many green polishes that work with my skin tone. This one is perfect though. 2 easy coats. Fabulous formula. My pictures came out slightly more dusty looking than the polish is in real life.

Essie Trophy Wife - easy 2 coats. Formula was a bit more difficult to work with than my other Essie's. I love this vibrant teal. Beautiful. :)

The last item was a small travel size hand cream. It's very thick and creamy, smell is very mild and pleasant. In general, just a great hand cream to have.

NYC

Posted by Unknown on Wednesday, August 31, 2011

This was the summer of family and one of my favorite family vacations was when my boyfriend, his parents, one of his sisters, and I went to NYC. Ron and I go there often, so it isn't very exciting for us, but none of his family had been before. We got to take them to the Empire State building, the Statue of Liberty, and eat tons of food! At the end of the vacation I decided that I should do some nails to commemorate the trip. So these are my NYC nails! My right hand said "I *heart* NY" but I can't find a picture of it. Here's the story behind each nail:
Thumb: This was for Ron's mom, Susie. She loves playing Monopoly on facebook, so the "Go" from Monopoly reminds me of her
Index: This was for Ron's father, Vern. He is devout in his Christianity so I couldn't think of anything better to represent him than a cross
Middle: A kitty cat for Ron's sister Bonnye. Every time I ever see anything with a cat on it my reaction is always, "Oh my god, Bonnye would love that!"
Ring: Well, if you're read my blogs a bunch you can probably guess that the hamburger is for Ron. He loves hamburgers. A lot.
Pinky: And of course, I got the hand with painted nails... because let's be honest... I kind of like painting my nails.

Color Club - Peppermint Twist - My new favorite pink!

Posted by Unknown on Thursday, August 25, 2011

Yep, I have a new favorite pink. Let's get right to it.

This is Color Club - Peppermint Twist.

Peppermint Twist is from the Poptastic collection. A lot of you might be thinking "Hey, I have the Poptastic collection but I don't have this!"

Well, did you know there are actually a whole bunch of shades in this collection that are not in the 7-piece set? You can see them all here at the bottom of the page. I pretty much want them all...

When I was in Buffalo I saw a mini display that had most of the colors from the collection. But they were $3, and they were mini,so I only got this one. I would have gotten a few more like Factory Girl and Mrs Robinson if they had them but some were sold out.

This one is almost a one-coater! And the shade of pink is just SO flattering. It's not quite like any other pink I have.

I compared it to 2 popular Color Club pinks:

Poptastic, Peppermint Twist, Yum Gum

As you can see, it is way less neon than Poptastic, and a it has a bit more of a purple tone to it than both the colors.

Super cute. I love it.

For a bit of sparkle I added a new glitter topper I also got while in Buffalo.

This is NYC - Starry Silver Glitter. This baby only cost me 95 cents at Walmart.

It consists of small silver and holographic glitter, as well as larger blue and pink glitter. It's interesting and I really like the way it looked on my nails.

And for less than a dollar, how can you not love it?

That's it for today!
P.S. I saw Friends With Benefits last night and it was great! I'd totally recommend seeing it. :)
