Nail School - Day 39 - My Last Day

Posted by Unknown on Saturday, March 3, 2012

Well, I did it. I finished nail school yesterday. My last day was busy and exciting. The first thing that I did was make some rings out of acrylics. That's right, the rings below were made from the same stuff that you make fake nails out of! I made three rings, but I'm too lazy to get up right now to photograph the other ones. This one turned out the best though. I'm thinking about starting a ring making thing on etsy because these were fun to make that I think I can make really intricate designs now that I know how to do it. What do you think, would you buy one for the right price?
Simple brown ring with brown shimmer/holographic powder.

Close up of the ring. You can see the holo sparkles better here
After making the rings I was lucky enough to get a facial with a chemical peel. One of the students in the esthetics department needed to practice, and because I was done with everything I needed to do, I got to be the test subject! It was great. My skin felt amazing. But this wasn't the only present I got yesterday -- Because I graduated with over 90% attendance (actually, I had 100% attendance), the school gave me this manicure bowl:

I think the best presents that I got over the course of the day though were from my classmates. They gave me cupcakes, balloons, and one made a drawing on the white board for me. It was amazing! I didn't think I would miss the school too much, but after my fellow students treated me so well, I had a change of heart. I will miss the other students I got to meet, the teachers who helped me to learn, and everyone else who I got to interact with.

My day continued at lunch with my mom, which was great. We even did a little shopping afterwards. And finally, I joined my friend for some drinks. Overall, it was a great day, and interesting experience, and although I'm happy it's over, I enjoyed it for what it was!

rebecca's favorite polishes of 2011 - #9

Posted by Unknown on Thursday, December 22, 2011

Hey everyone! Ready to see #9?

Lynnderella - Gotta Love Brains is my #9 favorite polish of 2011.

If you've never heard of Lynnderella, she is a lovely lady who is selling her frankens to the masses! She has some seriously awesome creations. I got this baby in a swap with my Brazilian friend, Marilia!
It's hard to get your hands on Lynnderella's because she makes them in pretty small quantities.
Keep an eye on her blog to see her polishes and find out times of her sales.

Now let's see this polish in action!

Isn't this beautiful? So many cool glitters! And there is a purple shimmer running through the polish which makes it even more awesome. Click the photos to enlarge them and see them up close.

For these photos I layered two coats of Gotta Love Brains over 2 coats of Soulstice Spa - Manchester. Manchester is the perfect light gray base to layer this over!

I'm really stoked to have been able to get this. I have another Lynnderella on the way from another swap! Can't wait to get that one and show it to you guys as well.

Another great thing about this polish? It makes for a cool ring!

See all the shimmer? Love!

What do you guys think? Does this one deserve to be in the top 10?

And don't forget to check out Kayla Shevonne's #9 today! I wonder what she chose!

Corset

Oh man, I'm the worst. I promised that I wouldn't miss any more days and then a few days later I skipped two whole days of posting! But this time it wasn't totally my fault. Ron and I went to visit family in Philadelphia this weekend and the internet in our nice hotel ended up costing an arm and a leg (I think it goes without saying that it was an arm and a leg we weren't willing to pay!). So here I am again, begging for your forgiveness! And hopefully this post will sort of make up for my absence.

Here I am mostly showing of my beautiful nail ring! Isn't it pretty? It's a snake and it's shiny. I have seen these rings a lot in high fashion photography and I fell in love with them! Here are the best features of this ring:
1. If you screw up your nail polish on one nail, but don't have the time or energy to fix it, you can just hide it with this awesome ring!
2. It stays on really well! I was really concerned that it was going to just fall right off, but it feels very secure
3. Ummmm... It's gorgeous!

I didn't want to take away from the ring too much, so I just did a simple corset design on my middle fingers. The base coat is a mixture of acrylic paints that includes a pearlescent paint.
