I hate that I talked bad about my local Sally's being clueless about Tronica... because they had a display up the other day. I turned out to be the clueless one. I'd seen other blogger's swatches and I was impressed so I wanted some for myself. When I saw the bottles in person, my first thought was "THIS is it?"
Usually the beauty that is in the bottle, whether it be duochrome/holo/shimmer/whatever, turns out being much less noticeable once the polish is on your nail. Tronica is not even holo in the bottle! Why would I expect it to be fantastically holographic on my nails? Maybe because I was in denial, or because my poor one little bottle from the OMG collection looks so lonely? (TTYL) Even after all of this going through my head, I still didn't walk out empty handed. My reasoning is that I honestly like all three of these colors even without holo in mind. I feel like they will still be put to good use. So I bought: Gamer Glam, Virtual Violet, & High Def.
When I got home late this evening there was still a few rays out while the sun was setting. I slapped on some swatches quickly before the sun was totally gone.
The holo seems to only be noticeable with a macro photo zoomed in to the max. Sorry China Glaze, but I can't stand with my nail literally next to my eyeball to be able to enjoy the holo-ness. So I'm glad at least that I like the colors by themselves.
Virtual Violet was nearly opaque with only one coat, I'm wondering how it will translate into konading?
