Finger Paints Special Effects

Posted by Unknown on Thursday, January 12, 2012

Hi all, I know I haven't wrote a post in awhile, and I want to apologize for that. Today I have Finger Paints' Special Effects to share with you. This collection consists of five flakie top coats. I can see that flakes will be a trend for nail polishes in 2012; and that is quite exciting. I was able to purchase all five at my local Sally Beauty for $5.49 each. I did them all over black to show the flakes.

Twisted happens to be my favorite one of the bunch. It's a mix of yellow, green, orange, blue flakies. This is one coat over black.

Motley is a blue, aqua and green flakie. This was two coat over black since with one coat you can barely see the green.

Flecked is a green flakie. This is one coat over black.

Flashy is an orange flakie with flashes of green flakies. One coat over black.

Asylum is a blue purple, orange, and green flakie. Kind of similar to Twisted but Asylum does not cover much with just one coat. It reminds me of Deborah Lippmann's Edge of Glory duo. It may be a dupe, and I will definitely do a comparison between the two. This is one coat over black.

We've seen a lot of blue green flakies, and orange green flakies, but Asylum and Twisted is pretty unique in it's own way. The formula for these were good, perfect and applied smoothly over the black. Will definitely experiment with these and put it over other colors.

Well that's all I have for today, what do you guys think of the Special Effects?

Finger Paint Tiffany Imposter

Posted by Unknown on Monday, November 7, 2011

Today I have Finger Paint's Tiffany Imposter to share with you guys. I don't have much Finger Paint polishes because I rarely get to visit Sally's Beauty since it's kind of far from me. And by the time I do go to one, all the good colors are already gone. But when I saw Tiffany Imposter, it was gorgeous, I also liked the name too!

Tiffany Imposter is a tiffany blue creme. 2 coats. Quite similar to China Glaze's For Audrey. I feel that Tiffany Imposter is slightly lighter than For Audrey. I should've done a comparison, but I'm a lazy person.

The formula was good for this. It applied evenly and smooth and was not streaky at all.

Born Pretty Sticker Stencils

Posted by Unknown on Wednesday, July 6, 2011

Born Pretty sent me some of their nail art sticker stencils to try out. These are a fantastic option for someone who has been frustrated by stamping & free hand methods.

You simply peel off one the stencils.

Then place it wherever you want on your already polished nail. You need to wait until your base is mostly dry. The stickers are re-positionable, so no worries if you don't get it quite right at first.

Apply polish to the design. Sticker stencils have a big advantage over stamping because you can use whatever polish you want!

Immediately peel off the stencil, add a layer of top coat and you're all done! Fastest, most foolproof nail art ever!!

At just $4.18 for 10 different designs, this set form Born Pretty is a terrific deal. I've used a similar product from smARTNAILS; they are much more expensive but offer a wider variety and the ability to choose only designs that you really like. Your choice as to which company better suits your needs. Born pretty does offer a ton of nail art options though. You can see other products I've tried from their store here & here.

I used Finger Paints Yellow Bikini for the base & Essie Chinchilly for the design. You can enter to win half of my Bron Pretty Sticker Stencil set in my current giveaway!

Thanks for reading!

Too much purple... NEVER!

Posted by Unknown on Friday, March 11, 2011

So purple is a fave polish color of mine, so why not do a multi-purple mani!! I have a few new tape ideas, that I can't wait to try, but since i'm STILL freaking feeling sick, creativity was not on my list. Oh and once again my comcast emal is down and hasn't been functionally correctly for a few days, but don't fret, as of next Friday I will be a Verizon customer, and have a new email, that I will be sure to post. Okay anyways, here is the mani I did.
I started with 1 coat of Finger Paints Aren't You Glad-iolous? and then 1 coat of SV
Then taping off my nails, I added Color Club Pucci-licious, and another coat of SV
then again taping my nails off I added Zoya Savita and left it matte. This time I didn't do a coat of SV since the matte dries so fast.
last of all, I taped them off, and added L'Oreal Luminescence, AMAZING dark purple. It's hard to see here, but it's so rich and deep, with lighter purple shimmer. You can kind of see it in the 2nd pic in the bottle. Then added my final coat of SV :)

2011 Finger Paints Spring Collection

Posted by Unknown on Wednesday, March 9, 2011

So even though Sally's had a full display of these cute bottles with rings, I only grabbed 2, and to be honest, it was only because of the rings. I have very few Finger Paints, and this is because, they just don't have that many unique colors. For instance this collection is nothing special IMHO. Dang you rings, if it weren't for you, I wouldn't have spent the money. Oh well. The formula on both was quit thick, but nothing a little thinner won't help. Since they were so thick though, both of these are only 1 coat, which I do love.

BTW, my camera has officially become a liar! This is more of a mint green than an in your face neon lime green. *shrug*

WTF....Where is all the holo!?!?

Posted by Unknown on Monday, March 7, 2011

Okay so I have heard that the China Glaze Tronica collection was a semi let down, and now I agree. It is nothing like the holo in the OMG collection :( I still think they are pretty, but just could have been sooo much more. Oh well. Well when I stopped at Sally's and saw them, I grabbed 4 and 2 of the new Finger Paints, mainly because the rings they came with were so freaking cute.

Here is what I got
L-R
Finger Paints Aren't You Glad-iolous?, ChG Gamer Glam, ChG High Def, ChG Hyper Haute, ChG Laser Lime & Finger Paints Chrysanthe-mum's the Word

and since I am so impatient some days, I wanted to try them all, so I did :)

Then trying oh so hard, I wanted to see the rainbow, and while it was slightly there, it was nothing like the OMG's. (maybe the sun was too bright, lol)
