Lightning

Posted by Unknown on Tuesday, May 29, 2012

It's go through old photos day at April's house. Here's another quick post with some forgotten nails. I can't quite remember what I was going for here...
I used Sinful Secret Admirer (one of my all time favorites) for the base & the Painted Nail by Nubar OMG Gorgeous for the lightning.

Chain Of Hearts Nail Art

Posted by Unknown

Just a quick post with an old manicure that I didn't manage to get any great pictures of even though I really liked it! I used The drop dead gorgeous Zoya Keiko for the base & Zoya Chloe for the flakies inside the heart. Same chain & technique as these nails I did last Christmas.

Ghostbusters!

Posted by Unknown on Tuesday, May 15, 2012

Today's manicure was inspired by this great poster. I decided to go with a pure white background though. I used Sation Snow White, Sation Overdressed Party, & Pure Ice French Kiss. Pretty happy with this one!

Sation Cafe Con Leche & Abstract Flower Accent Nail

Posted by Unknown on Saturday, May 12, 2012

Sation bottles are oval with thick glass bottoms. The new brushes are great for ladies like me that love wide brushes. The formula on all the ones I've tried is excellent. You can purchase Sation's Big 3 Free polishes at their website.

Sation Cafe Con Leche is a glossy caramel creme with an great formula that's opaque in 2 coats.

The next night i did a quick accent nail using Zoya Gemma, Sation Heather, & N.Y.C. 233.

Sation Off The Record Pink & Zoya Zuza

Posted by Unknown on Wednesday, May 9, 2012

Some manicures just don't quite work. I wanted to add some Big Ruby Tattoos to my pretty Sation Off The Record Pink nails, but I didn't get them positioned correctly. I had just gotten the Zoya Surf collection & I thought Zuza would look lovely paired with the delicate pink, so I used it to cover up my mistake. A lovely accent nail combination.

Zoya Wednesday & A Fishtail Braid Accent Nail

Posted by Unknown on Thursday, May 3, 2012

Zoya Wednesday is gorgeous, a "faded dirty medium turquoise with green undertone and an opaque cream finish." The formula is a bit thick & needs a topcoat to level it out. Shown here at 2 coats Wednesday is a new favorite for sure!
The next day I tried out a tutorial by Taylor of the blog REJOICE for a fishtail braid manicure. Since it looked time consuming I opted for just an accent nail but I strongly discourage doing only one nail unless you have lots of patience to wait for the layers to dry. It's really quite easy to accomplish & would look amazing done on every finger.
I used Zoya Wednesday, Kristi, & Cho. I love this color combination & I can't wait to try the fishtail braid for a full manicure. Thanks for the idea Taylor!

Zoya Shelby & A Pretty Accent Nail

Posted by Unknown on Sunday, April 29, 2012

I didn't think I liked Zoya Shelby at first; it's just SO pink! It grew on me though & I'm definitely keeping it. Shelby is a very cool toned bubblegum pink cream. The formula is very pigmented but a bit thick & streaky. It evened out just fine after 3 coats.

Full sun

I found this amazing image in an old Mechanix Illustrated image
The next day I saw my sister Ashley & she had a new purse that inspired my accent nail. Turns out the Zoya Beach Collection has every color I needed! I used Zoya Arizona & Zoya Lara.

Tri-Color French Accent Nails

Posted by Unknown on Friday, April 13, 2012

One of my sister Ashley's go to manicures is the tri-color french. You can see two of her pretty versions here & here. Zoya Kimber is the base with Essie Mint Candy Apple, French Tip dip Eccentric, & Maybelline New Year's Blues for the tip.

Wet N Wild Blackmail & Some Quick Nail Art

Posted by Unknown on Tuesday, March 6, 2012

I won Wet N Wild Blackmail from Painted Pixies blog a few months ago. Thanks so much for all of the cool polish!
Blackmail is a nice black polish with a hint of copper & turquoise shimmer. I'm definitely keeping it but I wish that the shimmer was much more prominent. That would make this one a stunner instead of just fine.

The next day I tried to do some nail art inspired by my killer new pair of shoes, I couldn't quite get the look I was going for though. I used Zoya Phoebe for the fan shape.

Zoya Skylar & An Accent Nail Manicure

Posted by Unknown on Tuesday, January 17, 2012

Zoya Skylar is from the newly released True collection. I'll have the rest of the collection up over the next week or so. I can tell you that I love the whole collection just as much as I did Zoya's Intimate collection from spring last year! As many other bloggers have pointed out, Zoya really nails their color descriptions so I'll be using them in my posts.

Skylar is a medium steel blue with a softened, dusty look and speckled by visible gold and silver shimmer flecks. A soft blue that's bold without being too dark, bright or flashy.  Another new favorite! I've been looking for a blue polish in just this shade.
The formula is excellent & reminds me of Zoya Edyta. It applies like liquid velvet & is opaque in 2 or 3 coats. Gorgeous polish!
The next day I added some black polish and dots of Zoya Jules to my ring finger.  These colors make me think of art deco tiles & jewelry.

Quick Chrstmas Nails

Posted by Unknown on Wednesday, December 14, 2011

Through most of my 20's I was a bit of a humbug about the holiday season. Then every year around January 2nd or 3rd I'd realized I missed it all. So for the past several years I've made to invite my family over to decorate the tree, listen to some holiday music, & drink some hot chocolate. Much more fun!
Anyway, here's my second set of holiday nails for this year. I used an unknown Toma that I really love. It's a one coat wonder! Then I just added some red & green rhinestones for a bit of seasonal festiveness.

Snowman Nail Art

Posted by Unknown on Tuesday, December 13, 2011

I love how my snowman turned out! I started with a base of American Apparel The Valley. Then I used Revlon Powder Puff for his face.
I later added a coat of Color Club Covered In Diamonds. I think I like the plain version just a bit better.
Here's my inspiration. I found this old light up snowman at the flea market a couple of weekends ago. He's so cute!

American Apparel California Trooper & Poppy

Posted by Unknown on Thursday, December 1, 2011

I love American Apparel polishes! I love their nifty rectangle bottles that sit so nicely next to each other, I love their huge range of gorgeous creme shades & I love their formula. I've already used up my bottle of Cotton, & I just picked up a backup of California Trooper. I've gushed about California Trooper before. If I could only have one nail polish this would be it!

For this manicure I used California Trooper & Poppy for my accent nail. It's the basis for some nail art inspired by a book, but it looked so pretty before the nail art that I had to take some pictures. I'll post the nail art & a quick review of the book that inspired it very soon.

Zoya Izzy & Kissy

Posted by Unknown on Saturday, November 26, 2011

Here's the last of the Zoya Gems & Jewels collection, 2 coats of Izzy with 2 coats of Kissy added to my ring finger.
Izzy is a bold metallic magenta shimmer with a great formula. Like Zoya Holly & Zoya Noel, it's almost a one coat wonder and dries super fast. Nothing unique but very pretty.
Izzy has superfine magenta glitter, small magenta bar glitter that flashes purple, & quite a bit of small holo bar glitter. Izzy looks a little different than Rina & Twila because it has lots more holo bar glitter. Great formula for a polish with so much glitter! I recommend running your finger along your free edge just to make sure that no bar glitter is hanging off. Just takes a second and made a big difference.
