Sation Just Lilac That

Sation bottles are oval with thick glass bottoms. The new brushes are great for ladies like me that love wide brushes. The formula on all the ones I've tried is excellent. Sation Just Lilac That is a fun summer color with an excellent formula especially for a pale cream polish. Shown here at two coats, Just Lilac That is a very pink leaning lilac cream that I found very flattering. Definitely a keeper!

These last two pictures were taken with my one of my favorite games, Lunch Money. It's easy to learn, fun to play, & just looks really creepy & cool!

Chain Of Hearts Nail Art

Just a quick post with an old manicure that I didn't manage to get any great pictures of even though I really liked it! I used The drop dead gorgeous Zoya Keiko for the base & Zoya Chloe for the flakies inside the heart. Same chain & technique as these nails I did last Christmas.

WIC by Herôme - Colourful Curaçao collection

Hello everyone! :-) For this post I have swatches from Dutch brand WIC by Herôme. Every now and then WIC comes up with a limited collection. And I'm always very excited to see them because they often contain interesting colors or finishes that really stand out against their core collection which mostly consists of cremes. This time I'm showing you the Colourful Curaçao collection, a mix of bright shimmers and two frosts, let's have a look at the polishes then!

Kontiki Beach - A lovely violet shimmer. The formula was amazing and it needed two coats for coverage. Usually I'm more drawn to blue-toned purples but I think Kontiki Beach is just gorgeous!

Mambo Beach - A typical old-fashioned pink frost that our mommies used to wear a few decades ago... (Though it appears much more orangy on the pictures.) I tried to be open-minded when I swatched this polish, but I really don't like it. That color combined with the frosty finish is just so dated. The good thing however, is that brushstrokes were easy to avoid. I applied two coats and as you can see, the frosty finish is almost perfectly smooth.

Blue Bay - The second frost in this collection, a silver with small hints of blue/purple. The color was hard to capture in my pictures though, in real life it's less purple and more silver. Blue Bay looked quite interesting in the bottle, but unfortunately it's not that pretty on the nails. I used two coats for coverage and extreme brushstrokes were just inevitable. :-( 

Cabana Beach - A bright turquoise shimmer. Ooh, I love this one! The color, formula and application are great. The only thing that would make Cabana Beach even better is if it covers in less than three coats, other than that it's perfect!

Banda Bou - I was most excited to try out this polish. The dusty, yellow-toned green color is already interesting, but then there's that subtle silver pearly finish that completes it. Yellow-toned greens normally aren't my cup of tea, but this one I like. Look at that unusual color and finish. ^^ I applied 2-3 coats.

Daaibooi Beach - Last but certainly not least! Daaibooi Beach is a rich, blue-toned green shimmer. It's quite an unusual color for a spring collection, but who cares when it's this pretty, it has so much depth! This one also needed three (thin) coats, but you can probably get away with two thicker ones as well.

So here you have it, WIC's Colourful Curaçao collection. I honestly like the whole collection except for the two frosts, but I'm glad to see WIC has the courage to try something different, who knows what they'll come up with next time. What do you think of these polishes?

Black and White Tribal

Oooh, more tribal nails! I hope you don't mind. :-) I just love how detailed it looks with only little effort, especially if you use it for an accent nail only. Also it's a cute eyecatcher that way and a great excuse for being lazy, haha. The tribal print was freehanded with a white striper polish over black and the purple is OPI's Planks A Lot. Shocking

Hi everyone! :-) For today's short post I have this accent nail mani to show you. This afternoon I did a fresh mani with my favorite purple cream: OPI Funkey Dunkey. A few hours later I wanted to add a little eyecatcher, so it became this silver lightning bolt. It's a small addition, but just what I needed to complete this mani. ^^ Thanks for stopping by!

My Second Accidental Eggplant Manicure

Somehow this is the second time I've accidentally made my nails look like eggplants! Here's the first time if you're curious. I was trying to do a completely different manicure this time but I messed it up. I decided to try and fix it with my favorite easy nail art. By the time I was on the second finger I realized that I'd done it again, accidental eggplant!

I used Zoya Carly for the base & Zoya Apple for the tips.

Zoya Carly

Zoya Carly isn't a color I was immediately drawn to but that changed when I started applying it. The formula is a superb one coat wonder that reminds me of one of my all time favorites, Edyta.

Zoya describes this one better than I ever could, "a very rich, bold, red-toned dark purple with iridescent red and silver metallic shimmer and a dense foil finish." It's much more beautiful in person & the formula makes this one a stand out for me. I'm always on the look out for one coat wonders!

Carly goes perfectly with one of my favorite dresses too.

Purples (and a pink)

Sometimes all you need for fun nails is color! Here I used a bunch of untried purples in a semi-gradient/ombre mani. I usually love my purples blue-toned, which is probably why I've never worn the three pinker colors before, but they look pretty cute together in a group. :) The polishes used from my thumb to my pinky:

Teeez - Outta Control

Teeez Outta Control. This must be my favorite purple, EVER! It's purple, prismatic and the formula and application are excellent. This is two coats over Orly Bonder basecoat and no topcoat, because it's so shiny by itself. Today's already the third day I'm wearing it, I can't get enough of it!
I once showed Outta Control before here in an accent nail mani, but I love it so much that I had to share it one more time. :-) Thanks for stopping by!

Zoya Tru & American Apparel Meteor Shower

I love American Apparel polishes & I couldn't wait to get my hands on this one. Meteor Shower is irregular shards of gold foil or mylar in a clear base. I didn't have much trouble with application but you do have to push down the larger pieces to get them to lay flat.
I'm wearing two coats of American Apparel Meteor Shower over 2 coats of Zoya Tru in these photos. I followed up with 2 coats of topcoat just to make sure all of the edges were well stuck down. I love the effect and will be wearing Meteor Shower again soon!

China Glaze - Gothic Lolita

Hi guys! This China Glaze post is my first one featuring a polish from the Electro Pop collection. Since swatches of the collection can already be widely found on the web, I decided to post each polish seperately with the nail art I made with it. This way I can show you a little extra something besides the polish itself. :) Let's see some purple awesomeness then!
Gothic Lolita, my favorite of the collection, is a slightly dusty, medium purple. The formula of this creme was a tad thick but still I had no problems with the application. I was amazed by the opacity of this polish, it was almost a one-coater but I did two for complete coverage. (It is strange however, how my bottle of Gothic Lolita covers so well while I read others needed three coats.) What makes this polish so special, without a doubt is the subtle blue and pink shimmer. It's not that visible from a 'normal' distance, but it definitely gives everything more depth.
For the nail art I went for my good old black stripes, made with my trusty striper Ink from China Glaze, can't get enough of stripes! ;-) What do you think of it?

Comparison: Pepe's Purple Passion vs. We'll Always Have Paris

These two are incomparable for some and incredibly close for others. On the left we have OPI Pepe's Purple Passion and on the right OPI We'll Always have Paris. Pepe's Purple Passion was released with The Muppets collection last Christmas and Paris was released a few years ago from OPI's France collection. I think it may be a part of the main line though.

Very minor differences. Pepe has very small flakie pieces and is a fraction lighter but the shimmer isn't really all that obvious. Then we have Paris who is a beautiful deep raisin creme.

Late last year I was dying for this colour but now I think I don't need both.

Nude with hearts

Hi guys! How are you all doing? :) I've finally finished all my exams for the first semester, so more time for blogging again! :)

For this post I wanted to share this semi-nude mani with you that I made last year. I wanted to make hearts on my nails by making a template with tape and this heartshaped paper punch that I have, but the punch had a hard time getting through the tape, so all I was left with was a little wrinkled, misshapen hole... So I cut out the shape myself from a fold up piece of tape and that's how I got to this design with V-shaped French tip. I still have to get used to nude nails, but I kind of like it like this. ^^ For the rest of my nails I was looking for a smokey purple, the polish that came nearest to what I wanted was Bourjois Bleu Asphalte. But I if I had Frederiksberg from WIC Herôme at the time, I certainly would've gone for that instead, I love that color so much! :)
So what are your thoughts on these nude nails? Would you wear them yourself?

Zoya Lotus & Tru: A Nail Art Comparison!

Zoya Lotus & Tru are from the newly released True collection. I've fianlly worn them all & I can tell you that I love the whole collection just as much as I did Zoya's Intimate collection from spring last year! As many other bloggers have pointed out, Zoya really nails their color descriptions so I'll be using them in my posts.

First we have Lotus "a very soft, dusty blue-toned amethyst purple with colorful shimmer that reflects pink, red and gold. A dreamy smoky shade for purple lovers that looks both soft and luminous." Great formula & lovely color.

 

Zoya Tru is "a saturated, red-toned grape purple with speckled shimmer that reflects gold, orange and red. Bold and saturated warm color made even more interesting with color-shifting shimmer." I like this one even more than Lotus. The formula is great on this too.

I decided to do the same type of nail art for these colors that I did with Cho & Farah from the same collection. It's very easy & I like the results. You can really see the shimmer in the last photo.

W.I.C. Frederiksberg & Aspen

Hi guys! Yesterday I showed you two of the four polishes Herôme sent me for review: Roskilde and Hollywood. Today it's time to show the second two, which are my favorites of the bunch!

Meet Frederiksberg from the Denmark collection, a gorgeous smokey purple creme. I'm so in love with the color, but what makes it even more special is the subtle pink shimmer. It was hard to capture the shimmer in the pictures, but if you look at the first one you can see a bit of it at the bottom. On the nails the pink isn't so obvious, but that's fine with me, because this polish already stole my heart with the trendy color. In addition to that, the formula was again just perfect, like it was with Roskilde. Two thin coats were all I needed to get everything opaque and even.

The second glitter I received is Aspen, which is part of the Wickedly Glamorous collection like Hollywood. Aspen is a glitter polish with tiny silver glitters in a clear base. At first it seemed like a 'regular' silver glitter with small round or hexagonal glitters, but when I looked up close I could see they're actually elongated, which creates a slightly different finish. I like it! In the picture below I applied one coat over Frederiksberg. The glitters are dense and spread evenly, though without hiding the beautiful base color underneath. Because of this and the fact it goes with so many colors in my opinion, I can see myself wearing Aspen a lot. For holidays of course, or just to add a tad of glamour during the rest of the year. It would make a great combination with other (smokey) cremes too.

I think it's clear I'm in love with both haha, what do you think of them?

Purple glitter fest

Good evening! As you may have noticed, I am feeling pretty glittery lately, for today I have a purple colored glitter mani to share with you. I remember not really being into purples at the start of this blog, but as time went by I got more and more used to them, to the point of even loving them ♥
In this post I'm wearing Essence Purple Magic, a beautiful medium blue-toned purple shimmer. (You can see swatches of it by itself here.) I decided to combine this little gem with my recently purchased W7 glitters and a champagne gold glitter, and I really like the outcome! The color scheme of purple, blue and pink has always intrigued me, and using it with glitter only makes it better ;-)

 And now you probably want to see the matte version right? Yeah, me too ^^
As usual, I used my favorite matte topcoat from Essence.
