I can't believe I haven't blogged this week! I have been so busy with life that I have barely had time to even pay attention to nail polish...I am about to go on vacation, so I'm not sure that's gonna change, but I really hope it does soon! I love the polish and blogging world, and the simple joy the polish can bring to your day. Cheesy, but that's how I feel! :)
So today I am reviewing and showing you a nail art look I did using some loose glitter from Born Pretty. They have a good selection of shapes and colors that come in little jars like the one below. For the look I used them for I hardly used any compared to what's in the container, so these are gonna last me a while!
I used China Glaze Flirty Tankini for the base. I painted one nail at a time and immediately began to stick the glitters around the edges of my nails. I used a pair of tweezers and pushed down on an individual piece of glitter to pick it up. I then carefully placed it in the wet polish. After I finished going around one nail, I topped it off with topcoat and moved on to the next.
This design was not nearly as time consuming or difficult as I thought it would be, especially for doing all 10 nails. It does take longer than, say, stamping a full mani, but nothing too crazy. Once you find your groove, placing the glitters goes pretty quickly.
I loved how this turned out! The glitter frame adds a luxe feeling my nails without being too over the top. So far the staying power of the glitter has been pretty good as well. I definitely want to try this again with more colors soon! Also, you can use code AJ10W21 to get 10% off your purchase at Born Pretty. :)
Have any of you tried a version of the frame mani yet?
I meant to post this yesterday but never got a chance to. Dustin and I have been busy tying up all the loose ends before moving.
This mani left me wanting more. I attempted a lot of different nail art before I gave up. It was just one of those times where I knew nothing was going to work out and needed to just stop. So I did and this is how it ended up.
This is China Glaze Make Some Noise and Color Club Twiggie as the accent nail.
I then added BO Nail Lacquer Milky Glitter Topcoat from Born Pretty. I love this! I like how it looks a little different over different colors. You can use my coupon code to get 10% off your purchase at Born Pretty: AJ10W21.
So there is my unfinished mani...do any of you just have to take a break from nails to get your inspiration back on track?
I hope you are having a wonderful weekend...the weather is gorgeous today so we took little Taylee to the park and she loved every minute of it!
My manicure today is a scotch tape mani using polishes from Born Pretty Store. I have shown some of these to you before, *here* is where you can see more swatches. I love the finish of these...it's sort of a mix of glitter and shimmer, and it takes almost 1 coat for full coverage. I used Glitter Blue Shimmer and Navy Blue Shimmer (this looks a lot different on the site than in person) to create this look.
I love how the finish just makes the whole design look uniform! A tip my husband came up with a while back when doing scotch tape manis: I use label stickers instead of tape because it's less likely to ruin the polish underneath. To get the perfect crisp line without having to try to push the sticker down too much is to dab a piece of cotton with a little acetone on it onto the edge of the label. It seals it down and it won't mess up your polish if you use a light hand. This way your other color doesn't bleed underneath the tape!
Also, a quick You Mix update, we do have black and white glitter in bar and hex forms back in stock!
Hey Y'all! Here is an Hello Kitty inlaid acrylic set that I made for Valentine's Day! I was inspired to do this design by Organic Nails April design. Those teddy bears looked so cool so I had to try that technique. I also loved Robin Moses Hello Kitty hand painted design and I always draw inspiration from her work. The fix up technique I used in the tutorial is also something I learned by watching her videos! So helpful! =)
This also gave me something to use those super cute Hello Kitty Stickers that were sent to me for review purposes by Born Pretty Store. They work really well under acrylic but I have to say I think they would come off on top of the nails. Here's a coupon from Born Pretty Store!
I have a few straggling items from Born Pretty Store that I still haven't shown you.
The first is a glitter polish. This has predominantly light gold glitter with some hot pink glitters as well. Below is 3 coats, but this could work as a layering polish using just one coat. I do think that if you are going for full coverage, you will want to use some underwear first. I didn't do that here but wish I had. I think this glitter is very pretty...I don't have anything else like it!
Next is something that I really like. This is the equivalent of Zoya Color Spoons all in one place! There are 120 spots on this and it's only around $5. So far I have been using mine to swatch new colors before I actually wear them. I am always so excited when I get new polish that I have to swatch it right away (please tell me I am not the only one)!
One day though, I really want to have enough of these to swatch my whole collection and have it more organized by color. Another detail I really loved about this plate is the little holes on the side that makes it easy to store in a 3 ring binder!
What do you think about these Born Pretty items? As always, you can use my coupon code to get 10% off your order: AJ10W21.
Also, don't forget to enter my giveaway if you haven't already! :)
Today's post features some polishes from Born Pretty Store. I have shown you a lot of these polishes in the past, so I am also going to include those swatches today. Here are the polishes all together...the ones I haven't shown here are the mint green, and light orange.
You can tell I trimmed my nails down a lot huh? I can't decide how I like them better...
Anyway...this is described on Born Pretty's site as Aqua Green...I see it as more of a mint/seafoam green, but either way it's very pretty! This is 3 coats.
And this is described as Orange Shimmer on the site, which seems pretty accurate to me! I think orange is one of the colors I have the least of in my collection mainly because it's hard to find flattering shades, but I like this one. It sort of has a burnt orange quality to it. This is 2 coats.
Now, these are the ones I have shown you before...I will just list the names Born Pretty uses to describe them so you can find them easily on the site.
Glitter Blue Shimmer
Shiny Violet Shimmer
Peach Pink Shimmer
Emerald Green Shimmer
I really like this line that Born Pretty carries (obviously, because I keep getting more!). Next time you visit Born Pretty, you can get an extra 10% off your order by using code: AJ10W21.
I doubt many of you will actually read this tonight since you are all out having lives, but since I am a boring married person, this is what I'm doing on my Friday night! haha
Just a quick post today. The base for this look is from Born Pretty and it's a pretty kelly green creme. I am pretty sure I have nothing else this exact shade in my collection. Unfortunately, I didn't get a picture of this on it's own.
For stamping, I am pretty sure this design comes from one of the plates at You Mix Cosmetics, but I can't remember. ;) This reminds me of the 60's...what about you? Like I can see these nails being turned into a dress back then and it would be all the rage. haha But I have seen lots of kelly green skinny jeans popping up lately, so maybe they can count as trendy now too!
PS. If you like this polish, you can buy it *here*. You can also use code AJ10W21 for an extra 10% off.
Thank you for reading! You guys are the reason blogging is so much fun!
Hey readers! I got really excited for a minute when I thought today was Friday...but then I realized it wasn't. haha One more day. Also, I just started a new workout DVD from Jillian Michaels and I am sore beyond belief. That woman doesn't play around!
Anyway...I have some more Born Pretty items to show you today. I chose to review some bullion beads because I always love the looks I have seen done with them. However, these take patience and skill! The picture below shows how they arrived...a little mixed up. Which didn't bother me at first, but once you turn the wheel a few times they get really mixed up. Born Pretty also sells these beads in separate jars if you like more organization. You will see what I did with these in just a bit.
For the base color of this mani, I used Dearlee Nail Polish number 08. It's a super girly bubblegum pink creme. I really like how this one looks on me. This is 2 coats. I compared this to OPI's Pink Friday and although they are close, they are not dupes.
Now, I'm not sure I would do the bullion beads like I did in this design again, but I do like the idea of them...you just gotta be steadyhanded with some tweezers. ;)
I used Sally Hansen Quick Color Pen in Pink Chrome for stamping. The design comes from Born Pretty plate M79. Kinda cute and funky, but not one of my total faves either.
Here is where you can buy the items mentioned in this post from Born Pretty Store:
It's been a while since I have shown you anything from Born Pretty Store. So if you feel like you've been missing out, there's more to come! :)
This is my first time using a mood/color changing polish. I like the idea of them and think it's a fun way to mix things up a little. The color I am showing you today shifts from lavender to pastel blue depending on the temperature. I used 2 coats. So this is what the polish looks like in cooler temperatures (it was probably in the 20's outside):
In order to get the full effect of the color change, I ran my hand under hot water. You can see the shift beginning to happen:
And then the full effect:
Cool huh? The reason my hand is still wet in the last two pics is because the color change didn't last very long because the temperature outside the water made it change back really fast. So I had to hurry and snap a few pics! I think the blue shade would show more in the summertime when there is more heat.
Overall, I like this polish a lot and want to try more colors. I would be interested to see what nail art would look like on top of the color change. The formula was kind of thick, but still manageable. You can purchase this item *here* for $7.84. Don't forget Born Pretty has free worldwide shipping! Also, I have a new 10% off code to share with you: AJ10W21.
What are your thoughts on color changing polish?

Happy Saturday! I have a giveaway for you guys! Born Pretty is one of my favorite places to get nail polish/nail art supplies on the cheap. They also have super cute accessories! Now is your chance to win a $30 coupon code to Born Pretty! Just wait to for Rafflecopter widget to load, and enter away! :)
I just wanted to share with you a purchase I made recently from Born Pretty Store. They have more than just nail art supplies. They also have some super cute jewelry and hair accessories. Because they have such great prices I was able to get a good amount of things for a little over $20! I know it helps to see this stuff on other places besides the website before purchasing so hopefully this helps someone.
The first thing I got was a Hello Kitty bling necklace. Adorable! The chain is longer than I was expecting, but that's not a huge issue. You can find this and many other HK items *here*.
The next thing I purchased was these earrings. They remind me of something from Tiffany's (one day maybe!), for now these work! ;) I wore these a couple days ago...love 'em! You can find these *here*.
This hair clip is a new fave of mine. I have been wearing it to keep my bangs out of my face when they bother me. It stays put really well and adds a little extra something to your look. You can find this *here*.
If you have been following my blog for a while, you know I love bows and bling and these hair ties combine both! There are a bunch of colors to choose from, but I only got 2. Can't wait to wear these with a wavy side pony! You can find these hair ties *here*.
And finally, I got this headband. I love the cute design and fall colors. So far, it doesn't seem like it will pinch my head, which most headbands usually do to me. You can get this *here*.
And because I wasn't picture ready at the time, my little Taylee is modeling this headband. She is still in her PJ's here, but you get the idea. <3
I definitely plan on purchasing more cute accessories from Born Pretty in the future. They are such an easy and cheap way to update your wardrobe. My order only took 3 weeks to get here from China and free shipping with no minimum worldwide is always a plus! I have a coupon code that can help you too: AMBERL73 gets you 10% off!
Have any of you tried Born Pretty accessories or do you plan to?
