tetris

Posted by Unknown on Wednesday, March 2, 2011

Hey everyone, today I just have a quick post to show some old nail art.
I did these nails as an entry to a competition just as I was getting hardcore into nail art!

Aren't these silly?

As you can see I wasn't the best nail photographer then.
The colors I used were:
Red:Unnamed
Orange: Sally Hansen Xtreme Wear - Sun Kissed
Yellow: Sally Hansen Xtreme Wear - Mellow Yellow
Green: Sally Hansen Xtreme Wear - Going Green
Blue: Sally Hansen Xtreme Wear - Blue Me Away!
Purple: Claires - Tahiti Purple
Black: LA Colors Art Deco - Black

For these I used a small brush, the art deco brush, and a lot of patience.

Aren't we all happy I got better at nails and also at taking pictures of them? Hah!

Today I acquired quite a bit of nail polish...

Click to see those babies up close!
L-R:
OPI - Dim Sum Plum
LA Girl Color Addict - Obsess (very appropriately named)
LA Girl (New nude collection, no exact name on bottle) - Secret
Color Club - Catwalk Queen 7 piece set (Thank you Winners!! :D)
I'm sure I will be using/swatching some of these very shortly. Stay tuned!

Edit: While looking at swatches, I've just noticed that my Color Club collection is missing the lovely lavender holo that is Fashion Addict! What the hell?!
There is a dusty mauvey purple in it's place! I need to go back to Winners and see if they all are missing the holo goodness!!!
(Also WTH is that purple one and where did it come from?!)

nails boss/cake boss

Posted by Unknown on Saturday, January 22, 2011

Second post today, with Barbie cake pictures as promised.
First of all I'll show some nails!

(click for bigger)
I love me some leopard!
This is an unnamed pink polish I got at a dollar store, and the purple is Claire's Tahiti Purple.
I used a black nail art pen for the detail.  The nail art pens are perfect for this kind of stuff!

And now for Barbie.
(click for bigger!)
I'm so pleased with it, and I hope it makes a little girl very happy today!
I'm delivering it in a half hour... wish me luck!

more favorite nails / inspiration

Posted by Unknown on Tuesday, January 18, 2011

Okay, today I'm going to post more favorite nails.
I'm hoping to get this blog out into the world soon, so I might as well make it good to get people interested, right?
The nails I'm posting today were inspired by another nail blogger, Emerald Sparkled.
My love for other nail blogs, especially hers, inspired me to create my own!

A while back, I saw some nails on Emerald Sparkled that I loved so much, I knew I had to do similar ones immediately! She totally turned me on to doing sets of mismatched nails.
So here are my Emerald Sparkled inspired nails.

I had these on for 8 days straight! I couldn't bear to remove them until they started chipping.
This was my first time using a rhinestone on my nails.
The way I like to apply rhinestones is with a small drop of Seche Vite in the desired area, then I apply the rhinestone with a toothpick. Let it set and follow with a full coat of Seche Vite!
I was worried about it coming off really quickly, but I made sure to be extra careful of my thumb for around an hour after applying it, to give the Seche Vite time to really set.
Now I wear them all the time and I've never lost one!

Thumb: Claires - Tahiti Purple, stamp from BM05, star rhinestone from a dollar store
Index: Wet n Wild Shine (I forget the number)
Middle: OPI - Mas as a Hatter, Sally Hansen Xtreme Wear - Rockstar pink
Ring: Joe Fresh - Faded Violet, stamp from BM20
Pinky: Sally Hansen Insta-Dry - Presto Pink, stamp from BM19
Stamping done with Sally Hansen Xtreme Wear - White On!

Thumb: OPI- Mad as a Hatter, Sally Hansen Xtreme Wear - Rockstar Pink
Index: Joe Fresh - Faded Violet
Middle: Sally Hansen Insta Dry - Presto Pink, stamp from BM19
Ring: Claires - Tahiti Purple, stamp from BM20
Pinky: Wet n Wild Shine (I forget the number)
Stamping done with Sally Hansen Xtreme Wear - White On!

Glitter close-up.
One coat of Mad as a Hatter, one of Rockstar Pink, and then another MAAH.
I like this combo better than both on their own!

If anyone is looking for a cheaper alternative to OPI's famous glitter polishes, Rockstar Pink is basically the exact same thing, but will only run you $2!

I hope you enjoyed my blogger-inspired nails as much as I did!

Cheers!

A Bunch of drugstore brand polishes along with some Claire's, CHI, OPI, Icing

Posted by Unknown on Friday, September 3, 2010

TGIF is all I can say.

I was digging at my untried stash and I had a lot of polishes there that I've bought back in March and still haven't tried it so I decided one day to just swatch it all. At a glance, you can all see it's mostly mint greens or greens in general lol

Wet n Wild's Wild Orchid - a purple base with multicolored glitters.

Sinful Colors Mint Apple - minty green with glass flecks. Absolutely gorgeous color. It was my first time trying Sinful Colors, and for their price, their application is pretty damn good!

Sinful Colors Let Me Go - sheer pearl with green/pink/purple flashes. I didn't expect this to be sheer, I thought it was going to have this cool metallic duochrome look like it did on the bottle. But it didn't. Oh well.

OPI DS Mystery - blackened purple with gold flecks. I obviously swatched this a LONG time ago, but just found the picture hidden in a folder lol

Nicole by OPI Peas and Q's - a mint green creme. I love mint greens and can't get enough of them!

Nicole by OPI Hint of Mint - sheer-ish mint green shimmer. It was a little sheer for me, 3 coats and still visible nail line.

Milani's Tailor Made - blue with an iridescent finish. Nice color but doesn't really float my boat.

Milani's Dress Maker - mint green shimmer. Chanel's Jade dupe. I will do a full post comparing these two along with Claire's Dream Catcher!

Icing Mint 2 Be - another mint green creme

Hard Candy's Sweet P - olive green glitter. I like the interesting green here!

Claire's Marine Blue -
neon aqua blue creme. I say neon because this one dried matte.

Claire's Mean Green - more turquoise than green. Also dried with a matte finish

Claire's Dream Catcher - mint green shimmer. Another Chanel's Jade dupe.

CHI Picnic in Central Park - pastel lime green creme. Love the name being I live in NY haha Although I never had a picnic in Central Park before. Maybe I should try!

So that is all I have for today. I hope everyone enjoys their Labor Day weekend!

New Claire's Mood Nail Polishes

Posted by Unknown on Thursday, July 22, 2010

Hey guys! I'm having a 5 day weekend since our office is moving to a different location and I'm not needed for help. Kinda happy to have these few days off :) More time for my lovely nail polishes. So today I have more Claire's MOOD nail polishes to show. I believe these are the new ones since I didn't see these on shelf the last time I bought their MOOD nail polishes. They did a great improvement; color wise. I didn't take any pictures of it changing color because this time my nails are long enough and the colors are gorgeously contrasted to show the changes in colors! Here are the swatches:

Flirty/Shy - a bright blue when warm, and dark blue when cold. Super cool, super hot color. 3 coats. I did 2 coats on my right hand (didn't take a picture sorry) and I realize the less coat you use, the more it shows for the change in colors. Though here with 3 coats it still showed very well.

Excited/Bored - coral peach when warm, bright orange/pink when cold. 2 coats. I love this one as well. It shows the changes in color really good.

A different view, which I thought made my nails look cool haha

I think Claire's did a great job with the colors. Loving both of them, and I hope they continue to make more colors in the future.

Although I've had terrible experiences with Claire's in the mall near me. Their workers have extremely bad attitudes, and the security guards even once accused me of stealing. One thing I will never do in my life is steal. That is just not me, so I was really offended when he asked to check my bag. I should've just told him no and asked to see the manager, but I didn't want to waste time. But I did make him feel stupid after he checked and nothing was in there. As for the workers, one time I was in there getting ready to pay, and this lady screamed out, "You ready?" Of course I would instantly think she was talking to me, so I responded "Yes." and she said "Not you" with this nasty attitude. So I barely shop there unless I know that new polishes are out. And I try to spend very little time in there. However, I have been to other Claire's, and this is the only one I dislike.

OK I think I typed enough haha, hope everyone enjoys their day!

Claire's Mood Nail Polish

Posted by Unknown on Wednesday, May 26, 2010

Hey! I finally got the chance to try these Claire's mood nail polishes. When I saw these on other blogs I thought they were cool and was dying to try them! This is very picture heavy because some deserved a few shots!

Calm/Wild - when warm, it gives a bright pink shimmer, and when cold it gives a bright purple shimmer.

I love the gradient look

It looked cool in that angle

Cold

Hot

Daring/Innocent - cold - gray, warm - this weird looking nude color

Interesting combo

I couldn't get it to the completely nude color!

Under cold water.. oo bubble! *pop*

Happy/Earthy - when cold it's a bright neon-ish green, when hot it's a bright yellow green

Sexy!

This looks like some type of 'nail porn' >_> nails taking a shower! Anyways, this is running under warm water

Under cold water

Peaceful/confident - when cold it's a teal, and hot it's bright blue

This one didn't do much for me, hence only one picture. Even running under hot/cold water it still looked the same to me. You only see slight gradient in this one.

Fabulous/funky - under cold it's dark pink, under hot it's bright pink.

Again this one didn't do much for me either. Not as cool as the other 3, but you still see a little difference on this one.

These were fun to play with, especially under water to see the color change. I'm easily amazed lol. They didn't last long, they chip after a few hours of wear, maybe you're not suppose to put a top coat over it? I don't know but they dry matte. Application was ok not great not bad. I think almost all of them are three coats.

So would any of you be trying these if you haven't yet?

Happy St. Patricks Day with Claire's Green Chunky

Posted by Unknown on Wednesday, March 17, 2010

Howdy ya'll! Happy St. Patrick's Day! I was browsing around everyone's blog looking at their St. Patty's mani and they all look amazing! I didn't have time this year to do any nail art or anything. So I just stuck with Claire's Green Chunky.

I've never tried any of Claire's nail polishes before. Although a few years back in JHS, I remember I always go to this store for their jeweleries and other accessories. Never had I thought about nail polishes then.

Green Chunky - green glitter with hexagonal glitters. It was done in three coats, though could used four for opacity.

I love how shiny, and glittery, and chunky this nail polish is.

Anyways, so I've been uber busy lately. My mom left to Hong Kong the other day, so now I have one less person to help me around. She'll be back within a month though! I told her to buy me some souvenirs, I wonder what she will get me!

Other than that, New York was also hit with a storm on Saturday and the tree in my backyard fell. Good thing it fell sideways and didn't hit my house, but it did hit the patio and the fences and all.

One of the famous parks in Brooklyn called Marine Park looked like a tornado hit it. Trees were torn from their roots. This never happened in New York so you can imagine all the craziness and people freaking out.

OK I'll stop boring you guys with the weather, but to end it on a good note, it's sunny and 65 degrees right now!!

Enjoy your day guys!
