China Glaze - Ride the Waves

Another China Glaze neon to show. This is the royal blue color. Not sure if it's a true neon, but it is definitely bright. Applies slightly thick like a jelly polish.

This is 3 moderate coats. I was trying for thin even coats, but the formula is a little off.

Still quite a delicious color though! And soooo shiny with topcoat.

After a day of wear I tried adding a flakie topcoat. Essie Shine of the Times. Why haven't I tried this combo before? A flakie over a vibrant royal blue?! This is a must if you haven't done it yet.

China Glaze - Flirty Tankini

I got a few of the ChG summer neons and we'll start off with this one. A bright coral with shimmer. I don't know that it's entirely neon because it dried with a shiny finish.

 This was 2 easy coats.

Neon Pink Holographic

I don't know why you this polish doesn't exist yet.... I layered HITS Hefesto over ELF Neon Pink for a very eye catching manicure.

 1 coat of Hefesto over 2 coats of Neon Pink

Outdoors in some sun. You can really see that the Neon Pink takes on a pink, but sometimes orange hue. It's really gorgeous!

Pink Voltage + Connect The Dots

I really liked how it looked when someone (sorry I forget it was a long time ago) posted a pic of Lynnderella Connect the Dots over a neon pink. Well this is my recreation.

I first painted 3 thin coats of China Glaze Pink Voltage (neon) and then layered 2 coats of Lynnderella Connect The Dots over it. Topped it with a coat of Seche Vite.

E.L.F. Neon Pink

This polish was so pretty it deserved a swatch post of it's own. This is 2 coats. I love that pop of even brighter shimmer in there! Yum!

China Glaze Blue Sparrow

Hello all! Today I have an oldie to share with you guys. It's China Glaze's Blue Sparrow from their Summer 2008 INK collection. I was browsing around Sally Beauty one day and looked around China Glaze just to see if they have any old interesting colors I might look and Blue Sparrow caught my eyes. I purchased without even thinking if I even have this color at home. To my luck, I don't. How did I miss this?!

Blue Sparrow is a royal blue with light blue glitters. 3 coats.

At the bottom of the bottle, it states the name with neon in parenthesis. It definitely is considered a neon since it dried matte and with a gritty feel to it. One top coat of Seche Vite fixed the grittiness and made this polish super shiny.

The formula was pretty good, and since this was a neon, it dried pretty fast. I didn't have any issues with this polish.

Rebecca's Bows

I've replicated another one of Rebecca Likes Nails manicures. I finally broke down and bought the Konad plate m59. You know, the one with the adorable bows. I know Rebecca loves that plate and I totally see why now. I searched her archives until I found this look that I wanted to do. She did these nails during the Pink Week Blogger Challenge.

I used ChG Recycle for the background. ChG Pink Voltage for the tips and bow. Wet N Wild Black Creme for the thumb's stripes. Just like Rebecca commented, my pink didn't stamp very opaque.... So I stamped it first in Konad Special White polish and then filled it in with Pink Voltage. It really helped make the pink pop!

Explosions

I recently found Algae Veronica of lotsafingerpaints.tumblr.com She was the winner of Miss Piggy week in the OPI Muppets Facebook Contest. She is phenomenal! I'm jealous of the artistic flair she manages to work into every design. She's even done other cartoons! Her Little Mermaid is to die for! 

This look was directly inspired by a look she did here.

It was really easy to create too! Follow these general steps. Paint some nails black and some white.

White zigzags on the black nails. (I used a nail art striper polish)

Black zigzags on the white nails. (Again, I used a nail art striper)

Then I added silver zigzags and neon purple/pink zigzags with more nail art stripers. Topcoat!

The entire look can be created with nail art stripers! No real special tools needed. I got the 3 bottles on the right as a set. The neon is from Sinful Colors and it's Sour Grapes.

E.L.F. Neon Trio

I picked up this ELF trio for $2.99 at my local Burlington Coat Factory store. I didn't know they had any nail polish sets, but they had these and some other novelty no-name scented polishes. These are my very first ELF polishes and I was very pleased. 

Neon Yellow

Neon Yellow was the dud of the bunch. This was 3 coats and it was streaky and a mess. It was like trying to apply thick craft glue to my nails! Yuck!

Neon Pink was awesome. This was 2 easy coats. Neons are usually thin and difficult to manage, but this one had a great formula.

Neon Green was also a delight! 2 easy coats. Covered well, nice and opaque.

The only other neon I had to compare these with is China Glaze Pink Voltage (neon). The others are completely unique to my stash. The ELF neon polish leans slightly more coral. Different enough to warrant having both! :)

I will certainly look into owning more ELF polishes now. The only negative aspect was the streaky yellow mess, and the brush to my pink polish was cut uneven so it was a bit wonky. The other brushes were fine, so I'm sure that was just a fluke.

Color Club - Glitter Envy

Another from the Starry Temptress Collection. The other polishes from this collection were a bit on the thick side and required a few drops of thinner. This one however, was a normal consistency expected from a neon. Slightly thin, streaky at first, but builds easily enough. This was 3 coats.

 Semi-matte finish of all neons. Some visible nail line still... My end opinion is just "meh." I'm not too thrilled.

Color Club - Ultra Astral

Still working my way through the swatches of the Color Club Starry Temptress Collection. This is Ultra Astral. It is a hot pink neon. Space Case is another pink neon in the same collection, however that one is a lighter pink.

This is two coats of Ultra Astral followed by one coat of the Starry Temptress topcoat. I like the extra glitter that it adds. :)

This first photo is the most color accurate.

Ultra Astral 2 coats by itself. It dries to the same semi-matte finish of all neons.

Color Club - Wink, Wink, Twinkle

Another random swatch. This is such a true purple neon. I couldn't hardly capture it's true color on my camera. This is the closest I could get. This was 2 coats, applied easily, dries to that semi-matte finish of all neons.

American Apparel Neons

Hey lovelies! Today I have neons from American Apparel to share with you. I love neons, and I don't see it much on nails around here, it's either neon pink, or neon orange, never the others. So when I saw these I had to buy them (although I am not a huge fan of American Apparel) Neons are perfect for the summer. Even though summer is coming to a close end, it doesn't hurt to see these neons :)





Neon Yellow is well, a neon yellow creme. lol This was done in 3 coats. It looks like a typical yellow hi-liter, so this is very bright and burns your eyes if you stare at it for too long. The picture is shown with no top coat. Neons tend to dry with a matte finish.





Neon Red is a red neon but looks more orange than red. 2 coats





Neon Orange is a bright light neon orange. 2 coats. I actually like this kind of neon orange than your typical neon orange you see around. It is more yellow-toned.





Neon Green is another we don't see much. This one is crazy blinding. This was 2 coats with a top coat. The color is very intense.





Neon Coral is a a neon orangey coral. 2 coats. I think this lean more towards neon orange, than neon coral. I guess they used coral because there's a neon orange already? lol I don't know.





Neon Purple is a neon purple. It kind of reminds me of Essie's Perky Purple. But I don't own that one so I can't really compare the two. This was 2 coats.



The formula for these were a little thick but nothing too hard to work with. I had trouble applying for some of them. It was a bit uneven and slightly bumpy, but with a top coat it smoothed everything out. Neon Purple had a perfect formula and applied flawlessly. I can't say the same for the rest. The Neon Yellow and Neon Green were hardest to apply, I guess it's because they're super bright but I don't know.



These costs $6 a bottle at www.americanapparel.com I'm also missing a Neon Blue, but it wasn't on the site when I ordered them, I also don't plan on ordering it either.
