China Glaze Hunger Games Capitol Colours Collection

Posted by Unknown on Friday, May 18, 2012

Happy Friday!! I have a very picture heavy post today. Today I have the China Glaze Hunger Games Capitol Colours collection to share. I still have yet to watch the movie, but I did read the first book and fell in love with it. I'm actually looking forward to the movie whenever I have time for it. Anyways, I was quite excited when I heard China Glaze is making a collection for the Hunger Games.

Foie Gras is a mushroom brown creme. 2 coats.

Dress Me Up is a mocha light brown creme. 2 coats

Stone Cold is a charcoal black matte with silver shimmer. 2 coats

Fast Track is a light taupe creme base with gold shimmers. 2 coats. Absolutely love this one.

Hook and Line is a frosty light gray. 2 coats. Oh my, how unique and interesting is THIS one?!

Harvest Moon is a metallic copper shimmer. 2 coats. Another gorgeous color.

Mahogany Magic is a medium brown creme and it kind of reminds me those Werther's caramel hard candy. Yum..

Argo is an olive green shimmer. 2 coats.

Riveting is a fiery orange red with gold shimmers. 2 coats. It has a slight jelly finish. This one is beautiful!

Smoke and Ashes is a black base with blue and green shimmers. 2 coats. I love the green and blue shimmers in it.

Electrify is a mixture of gold and red glitters. 3 coats. Such an interesting glitter combination. This would be perfect for Chinese New Year lol

Electrify over Mahogany Magic

There's also a top coat called Luxe and Lush which is a chunky flake glitter in a clear base. I did it over a few polishes, which you can see below.

Luxe and Lush over Foie Gras

Luxe and Lush over Dress Me Up

Luxe and Lush over Stone Cold, you can see how shimmery Stone Cold is!

Luxe and Lush over Hook and Line

The formula for these were very good. They all applied very nicely and smoothly. I had so much fun wearing these. I can't really pick a favorite because there are so many gorgeous colors and so unique. I'm getting a headache just trying to think of one I like most of the rest. I guess they are all my favorites then haha

I ordered these from Victoria's Nail Supply and it was totally worth the money. What do you ladies think of this collection?

some China Glaze swatch spam!

Posted by Unknown on Tuesday, May 15, 2012

I decided after my Zoya spam from yesterday that this will be swatch spam week!

Today I'm gonna show some China Glaze swatches - 3 random polishes and then a set of four minis.

China Glaze - Spontaneous
One of the first CG polishes I ever bought and still one of the ones I reach for often! It's a pretty medium purple creme with a great formula, 2 coats.

China Glaze - Strawberry Fields
This is one of the most popular colors from CG, a hot pink polish with strong gold shimmer. It's a beauty! It's a bit sheer, and needs three coats. A great summer color, released in the Summer Days collection in 2009!

China Glaze - Entourage
This is a fun green with shimmer from the Kicks collection. This 2 coats which was fine in person but a bit sheer for photos. I love this color but it stains a little!

Now it's time for the mini set!
I forgot to take a picture of the set, but it's called Memorable Moments and it seems to be wedding themed, with wedding appropriate colors. I got the set on clearance for $6 at a local drugstore.

China Glaze - Oxygen
Oxygen is a sheer white jelly, shown here at 2 coats. This would be a great polish for glitter sandwiches!

China Glaze - Bridezilla
This is a sheer pink shimmer, shown at three coats. Quite similar to OPI Princesses Rule, but I don't have that one to do a comparison. This is a super pretty shade, and it would be a cute color for a bride to wear (so long as she doesn't mind it being called Bridezilla! Haha.)

China Glaze - Stellar
Stellar is a nude taupe color with very strong gold shimmer, very pretty and unique in my collection! I think this is two coats.

China Glaze - Silver Lining
This is a super fine silver glitter in a clear base, shown here over Spontaneous. Really nice to add a little bit of sparkle to a mani without being obnoxious!

Phew! I like swatch spam. It helps me clean out my polish folders on my computer! Haha. I think tomorrow I'll do Julep spam. And then... who knows what else!
I think I have almost all my CGs swatched and posted now. I'll have to go through and see what else is left for the next time I do CG spam!
More aboutsome China Glaze swatch spam!

GOSH Swatches & Review

Posted by Unknown on Saturday, April 7, 2012

Today I have GOSH polishes to share with you guys. This is my first time ever trying this brand of polish. I've read and seen great swatches and reviews on this brand. I was super excited when I saw these at my local Duane Reade. Once again these swatches were done before I broke my nail, aside from the first swatch!

Mystical is a gorgeous taupe base with purple shimmer. 2 coats. This one reminded me a lot of Chanel's Paradoxal. They are not dupes though, because Mystical is more brown and lighter than Paradoxal.

Forest Floor is a forest green creme. 2 coats. Such a beautiful green. I received a lot of compliments when I had this on.

Rebell Yell is a blackened teal creme. 2 coats. I love how this one looks black, but with lighting the teal shows!

Ocean is a metallic aqua blue. 2 coats. Very minimal visible brush strokes for a metallic. This one was super bright and very appealing to the eyes.

Purple Heart is a duochrome of purple and green. 2 coats. I love duochromes so when I saw this one, it was a definite must have for me.

Here showing the green

And here showing the purple

The formula for these were excellent. They really opaque in one coat, but I did two to smooth things out and out of habit. They applied so smooth and even, including the metallic. I love applying polishes with no frustration. It makes me happy lol. I don't know much about the brand but it won't be the last time I will be reviewing for this brand. I will be stalking my Duane Reade for any new polishes from GOSH. I believe these were $8 a bottle. I think they're worth it being that their formula is excellent and the colors are gorgeous.

Well that's all I have for today! What do you guys think of GOSH polishes?

Zoya Feel Collection - swatches and review

Posted by Unknown on Thursday, January 19, 2012

Good evening! Today I'm going to show you the entire Zoya Feel collection. I meant to post this way earlier today but I ended up having to go to school earlier than expected and then I spent some time in the ER... But I am here now to post!

You've probably seen these before, but you haven't seen them here... So here they are.
Annnnnnd I have 4 pictures of each one because they're so pretty.

I'm going to put this post after a pagebreak so I don't clog up my front page!

Zoya - Avery
This is a perfect nude color. Like foundation. I adore this. The problem is... I don't own it. I borrowed this and Kennedy from Kayla because we ordered together and it came to my house and she let me swatch them.
And now I really regret not buying this because it's so lovely!
I might have to get it.
This is 2 coats - all of these polishes need 2 coats for perfect coverage. The formula is amazing. A+.

Zoya - Kennedy
Another nudey shade, this one is more pink toned. Again I love this and I should have my own bottle, dammit.

Zoya - Kristen
I just love cremes. This is 2 coats of dusty cornflower blue prettiness. It's like... modern while not being too in your face. I'm a fan.

Zoya - Carey
This is the true gray of the collection although it can look sort of blue-toned. I like this but I probably didn't need it because a gray is a gray and I have a few.

Zoya - Megan
This one looks really different in different lights as you can see from my first photo, but the other photos are more accurate. Zoya calls this a "taupe gray cream" but this is clearly purple-toned. Gray-lilac.

Zoya - Kendal
Another gray-lilac. Definitely didn't need this and Megan. Also, Essence's Dress For A Moment is pretty much a dupe.

I thought these colors would be more unique than they are. I'm still happy to have the 4 I do because the colors are beautiful and the formulas are amazing, but I'm just not as crazy about most of them as I thought I would be. I'm crazy about Kristen but I could take or leave the others.
And the two I didn't get? Love those ones. Apparently I made poor choices. Ha!
