GOSH Swatches & Review

Posted by Unknown on Saturday, April 7, 2012

Today I have GOSH polishes to share with you guys. This is my first time ever trying this brand of polish. I've read and seen great swatches and reviews on this brand. I was super excited when I saw these at my local Duane Reade. Once again these swatches were done before I broke my nail, aside from the first swatch!

Mystical is a gorgeous taupe base with purple shimmer. 2 coats. This one reminded me a lot of Chanel's Paradoxal. They are not dupes though, because Mystical is more brown and lighter than Paradoxal.

Forest Floor is a forest green creme. 2 coats. Such a beautiful green. I received a lot of compliments when I had this on.

Rebell Yell is a blackened teal creme. 2 coats. I love how this one looks black, but with lighting the teal shows!

Ocean is a metallic aqua blue. 2 coats. Very minimal visible brush strokes for a metallic. This one was super bright and very appealing to the eyes.

Purple Heart is a duochrome of purple and green. 2 coats. I love duochromes so when I saw this one, it was a definite must have for me.

Here showing the green

And here showing the purple

The formula for these were excellent. They really opaque in one coat, but I did two to smooth things out and out of habit. They applied so smooth and even, including the metallic. I love applying polishes with no frustration. It makes me happy lol. I don't know much about the brand but it won't be the last time I will be reviewing for this brand. I will be stalking my Duane Reade for any new polishes from GOSH. I believe these were $8 a bottle. I think they're worth it being that their formula is excellent and the colors are gorgeous.

Well that's all I have for today! What do you guys think of GOSH polishes?

Nail Party @ My Place

Posted by Unknown on Monday, January 2, 2012

I recently had a group of friends over to play in my nail polish. A friend of mine has 4 daughters ranging from 13 years old to 8 years old. Needless to say, they had a blast. I also included a couple others to round it out. We had fun. Everyone picked out colors and konad/bundle monster images to stamp. Then I did the manicures to show them how stamping works.

They all have pretty good taste. Several reached for my HTFs! I'm not stingy, I let them use them.
Deb picked China Glaze TTYL to stamp with GOSH Holographic. She wanted something "not too flashy..." Which fit well for that combination when in normal indoor lighting. Then I took her to the balcony and told her it would come alive! They were all amazed, and I was so proud. :)
Do you share your stash with others and have nail parties?

Please take a moment to check out the great entries to OPI's Mani Madness Contest on Facebook. This week's theme is Fozzie. If you like my look, drop me a vote! I'd be eternally grateful!
Check out mine here!

I used a solid white polish topped with GOSH Vanilla Ice and waited for it to dry thoroughly. Then I masked off the half moons with hole reinforcers and applied China Glaze Virtual Violet.

Pink Dress Run Event and Nails!

Posted by Unknown on Sunday, September 18, 2011

So maybe you remember from my Glitter Flats DIY tutorial, that I was participating in a "Pink Dress Run" to support cancer research. Well that was last night. Boy am I tired! I'm not one to exercise, and let's face it.... I'm not running unless something is chasing me! But this was for a great cause, my entire family got into the spirit of it, and they said it was ok to just walk rather than run. They just wanted all to show up in their best pink dress/toga/tutu the GUYS and the girls! 1.5 miles, it wasn't far at all.

First up, my german dirndl that I mentioned in my glitter flats post. Here is a cropped out just me.
I had gotten a friend of mine that is a hairdresser, to do my hair with 2 crown braids and a side ponytail. I had bought 4 pink ombre clip in hair extensions that she mixed in to show hints of pink. I later pinned the white flowers in to hide the extension tracks that showed. Lol
Oh, and note to self: buy more comfortable walking shoes to glitterize! By the end of the walk my dad pointed out I had a horrible busted blister on the back of my heel. Forget leaving a trail of glitter.... I was leaving a trail of blood! Gross, I know.

This is my dad and mom. We as a family were representing an international support of breast cancer research. I was German, my dad was Hawaiian in a fabric scrap hula skirt with paper mache coconut bra, my mom had a DIY Scottish kilt (with coordinating props of a toy dagger tucked in her sock).
Why is she grabbing his left boob in this picture? I just have creepy fun parents apparently...

My sister Kim and her husband Micah. Kim didn't end up going all out. We had last minute drama related to her outfit. Poor planning on our part, she still ended up in a pink outfit though. Micah scoured the local resale shops to find something and scored big with someone's old Halloween costume. Complete with fat suit & fake boobs. Yes, those are not his hips.

Kim and I with two other nurses from our hospital that we talked into coming. They each handcrafted their ensembles. It's amazing what you can do with some tulle and random pink accessories!
If y'all want to see some of the other extreme outfits that were present, let me know. I have some good pictures and some not so good pictures, but they are funny regardless. They ended up giving out 8? awards I think for "best dressed" and it was just a loose contest involving cheering. Micah did get one award though, so props to him. Most awards of course went to the guys that were dedicated to their outfits!

Oh, and last but not least, my nails!

I got this gigantic hot pink stretchy rose ring at Rue21.
Breast Cancer Awareness Ribbons on my accent nails.
2 sizes for the polka dots on the other nails. The 3 polishes I used in this mani are all China Glaze. Something Sweet, Secondhand Silk, & Laced Up. Oh, and I put a layer of OPI Teenage Dream on the accent nail before the ribbon. Added some glitz.

And these are Kim's nails that she let me do. China Glaze Strawberry Fields (props to her for remembering that was it's name without having looked at the label! I didn't know she would know that!) Ring finger is Sally Hansen Lavender Cloud, a layer of GOSH Vanilla Ice, and the Strawberry Fields again for the ribbon.

Ok enough of that, hope you enjoyed it!

Vanilla Ice

Posted by Unknown on Saturday, September 17, 2011

I've changed the shape of my nails a bit. Just as an experiment. I have a lot of weak spots on the corners of my nails when I wear them squared off. I'm feeling the urge to just hack them down to nubs, but thought I would try this out for a few manicures to see if it will grow on me. I know some have said that the "almond" shape is coming back, or will be big this fall... whatever. I don't like sharp talons, but I'll try out this soft almond shape and see how I can function with it.

I painted two coats of Sally Hansen CSM - Lavender Cloud followed by two coats of GOSH Vanilla Ice. I just wanted something soft and shimmery. I really like it.

The nail shape is an adjustment, but like I said I just want to try it out for a few days at least.

So far I didn't take any length of, I just filed the sides in. So technically they are the same length, but they feel much shorter to me than when they are squared. It's really strange. This shape is not that awkward or uncomfortable. They haven't gotten in my way at all really. When I get that urge to cut my nails to nubs, it's usually because those corners are irritating to me. That's probably why they are the weak spots, they get in my way and bear the brunt of any trauma. What do you think about this kind of nail shape?

Zoya Charla + GOSH Rainbow

Posted by Unknown on Wednesday, August 31, 2011

August 31, 2011

I am not too fond of my shorter nails in this photo, but oh well.....They need to be a tad bit longer (like they are currently!!!) I just generally like longer nails on me!

This is two coats of Zoya Charla, which is amazing on its own. I have several other polishes that I think look EXACTLY like Zoya Charla, so I hope to do a comparison post this weekend. Also, I added one coat of GOSH Rainbow, which is an awesome orange flaky polish. I think the orange and blue paired together look awesome (in my opinion).

And before I removed the polish, I had to try something I seen on ANOTHER bottle of Polish?!. (Click here to view her blog. Its awesome!). I think my line of orange needs to be thinner. I used my polish brush because I was lazy. I should have used my thin paint brush, but again, this was just something I did before removing the polish because I was curious. I like the look but not with this manicure! Maybe too much orange haha!

I am not too fond of my short nails in this post, but oh well.... Most of us have seen and fell in love with GOSH Rainbow!!! I mean who wouldn't love this polish?! Every time I saw this polish on a blog, I wanted it badly. Well I finally got it in my giveaway winnings from Cel's one year giveaway (You can check out Cel's blog here: http://celdeconail.blogspot.com/)... So of course I had to share it with you even though you have seen this polish a million times. But for those who haven't seen it, this polish is AMAZINGLY AWESOME! The base coat is Orly Goth, which I also received in the giveaway!!! This Orly color is amazing on its own. Of course, to add another flare, I used a konad stamp the next day. So what do you think?
