rebecca's favorite polishes of 2011 - #10

Posted by Unknown on Wednesday, December 21, 2011

Hello and welcome to my favorite polishes countdown!
Are you excited to find out what polishes found a place on my Top 10 of 2011 list? Because I'm excited to show you!

Before we get started I want to mention that my good friend Kayla Shevonne is also counting down her top 10! We decided to sync our posts. Hopefully you all enjoy it!
Don't forget to go check out her #10 as well.

Drumroll please...

I had a super hard time deciding which polish was going to be #10. I had probably 20 other polishes in the running for the #10 spot.
Eventually I decided it had to be Cult Nails - Unicorn Puke after remembering the mani I recently showed you with it.

For my swatches today I layered it over a dark purple creme to show off the flakies more. (China Glaze Urban-Night)

Love! I don't like the orange-green shift flakies on their own but the mixture of colors in this one makes it awesome!
This is 2 coats over 2 coats of the base color.

One thing that annoys me though...

The brush does this all the time. The very first time I opened the bottle it did this! Small annoyance but for the price of Cult Nails polishes you would expect this not to happen.

Let's take one last look at the wicked mani I did with this before.

Just can't get enough!

Make sure to keep an eye out for the next polish tomorrow!
And check out Kayla's if you haven't already.
Have a lovely day!

Who walked over my Power Thief

Posted by Unknown on Wednesday, December 14, 2011

Here is another really cute design that I did using ENAS soft nail art stamp number A15.

I wanted an earthy colour as the base and my brand new bottle of Cult Nails Power Thief was just the right base.  Its a chocolately brown with a silver shimmer, but there is also the tiniest bit of a pink shimmer too.

The stamp I used has two sizes of the paw print, so I just chose to use the small one.  This took a while to do because I did each paw one by one, but the effect was really cute.  My thumb was also stamped, but I forgot to include that in my photos.

I'm so glad I gave ENAS another go.  With a bit of practice, I'm feeling much happier with the results.  Multi coloured design here I come, but tonight I putting on my first Christmas mani for a work Christmas do tomorrow.  So I'm off to look at all your blogs to get inspiration about what to put on.

Cult Nails - Unicorn Puke

Posted by Unknown on Tuesday, December 13, 2011

Yesterday I showed you this mani and I told you I would make it better with more layering.
How do you make an already cool mani 1000 times cooler? You add Unicorn Puke.

Cult Nails - Unicorn Puke. If you are living under a rock and have not heard about this polish yet - yes, there is a polish named Unicorn Puke.
There were only 275 bottles of this sold, and they don't ship to Canada but I was lucky enough to have a friend order me a bottle!

That first photo is sort of a teaser. Let's get to the good pictures!

Click on that to enlarge it. You want to. Are you seeing this?

I highly recommend clicking on every photo to see the true awesomeness.

Unicorn Puke is a sheer purple jelly base, packed with flakies that flash a bunch of different colors. The above photos show what the mani looks like when you aren't in the proper light for seeing all the flakies. As you can see it still is a nice color and it looks super glittery with the Muppet glitters shining through!
This is 2 coats on top of my existing mani. (Yeah so my mani ended up being like 9 coats.)

I could look at these pictures all day.
This is my first and only Cult Nails polish. I had planned on never owning any of their polishes because I think they are pretty boring and unoriginal for the price tag, but how can you not want this one?

Each bottle has a number hand written on it, mine is 142/275.

As I said yesterday, I did not want to take this off and I wore it until it was grown out so much that I couldn't handle it.

I think the last picture is my favorite. I just love this combo so much. I don't think Puke would look as good on its own as it does with the glitter peeking out from underneath.

Sad that you missed out on this limited release? Good news - it is being sold again but under another name.
It's called Clairvoyant and I am pretty sure it is out of stock now but it will be back in the new year.

Birthday Haulage

Posted by Unknown on Friday, December 2, 2011

Whoo hoo, Happy Birthday to me today!  Boo Hoo, my husband is on the road with the Canberra Cavalry baseball team on the other side of Australia, in Perth.  Seriously he couldn't be further away unless he left the country.

So whatis there to pep up a girl?  Awesome nail mail.  The best thing about all this nail mail is that it wasn't even for my birthday, it just arrived in time for my birthday.
First is my Ludurana Aurora Boreal.  I did a swap for these polishes with the sweetest Rafa from Nails Ink.  They were wrapped in the beautiful way with purple bubble wrap and cellophane bags with hearts on them.  It really was like opening a birthday present.  Thank you Rafa!

I didn't get Espetecular, and I see that llarowe doesn't sell it on her site either. But looking at bottle pics it looks very similar to Fascinate.  Rafa also included a Risque polish that looks like a Chanel Paradoxal dupe.  Below are all the holos. Arrrgggggh *wipe drool from mouth*

Next, after seeing Stefs post about Essence being available in Target, I did some googling and discovered that as of Thursday they are now available in every Target in Australia, not just selected stores.  So I hauled arse over to the Canberra city target to check it out.  Canberra ladies, don't bother checking it for a week or two, the display stand was well and truly picked over, with less that 1/3 of polishes left.

But the polish Gods must have been smiling on me, because there were still two bottles of Blue Addicted left.  Blue Addicted is the dupe for Deborah Lippmann's Across the Universe, which after seeing Carli's post about it, I had to have. STAT!

Sitting next to that is Nfu Oh #51.  I have been trying to get this polish for at least two years.  I had all the other Nfu Oh Flakes through Vivid Nails, but they were never able to get me this last allusive polish.  The most awesome Erina got me this bottle. Thank you so much!!

I received my Cult nails order.  The Superheros collection.  I can't wait to try them.  Clairvoyant. WOW. It may seriously be the most awesome polish ever!  There's a very cool looking duochrome one in there too - Mind Control.  It looks to be a very special collection.

Finally, I had a gathering with my family last weekend to catch up for my birthday and my Dad's, who's was the week earlier.  I baked a cake.  The ladies instantly knew what it was, but one of my brothers was scratching his head for a while.  Not my best decoration, but it did kinda looks like a metallic orange gold bottle of polish.  It tasted yummy too.

I just don't have time at this time of year to do swatching, so it will have to be NOTD for all those bottles above.

November 29, 2011

This is two coats of Color Club Snakeskin with no top coat.

Then I added two coats of Cult Nails Clairvoyant

Later I saw the most beautiful Layering manicure with Cult Nails Clairvoyant posted by Sarah over at Samariums Swatches. I just HAD to do it. So the next day I took off my version and repainted my nails to match her version!!!!

This is two coats of China Glaze Liquid Leather and one coat of Kleancolor Chunky Holo Black.

I think the above photo looks awesome. This photo was my husband's first attempt at an HDR photo. He is still trying to get the hang of the whole HDR photos thing. I just thought I would share because I thought it was cool---brought out all the greens. It has a green glow!

Then I added a coat of Cult Nails Clairvoyant! OMG! This is gorg. Thanks Sarah for sharing this combo!

Day 2-3 of 30 day of untried challenge

Posted by Unknown on Friday, November 4, 2011

Todays untrieds are brand spanking new just got them this past week. I finally gave in a bought an Illamasqua polish and I picked Jo'Mina since they didn't have Obsses. I love this polish its so bright and pretty and to top it off the application was great now I see why people like Illamasqua polishes. This is 2 coats of Jo'mina.

After wearing this polish for a day I decided I wanted to add something to it so why not use another new polish that I woke up extra early to order for me and my polish bestie Jen and only 275 people own this limited edition polish nothing else but Cult Nails Unicorn puke. I added a coat over Jo'mina unfortunately I didn't get any pic of it in the sun so apologize for the sucky pictures.
