Illamasqua Human Fundamentalism Nail Lacquers

Hey everyone! Aren't we glad the weekend is finally here? I sure am!

Today I have Illamasqua's Human Fundamentalism nail lacquers to share with you guys. It consists of two of my favorite colors, a green and a purple. Therefore I definitely had to buy this once it was available at Sephora. Before I show you swatches, I want to say that my pictures does the polishes no justice, and these definitely need to be seen in person to enjoy the beauty of them.

Stance is a bright fuchsia violet creme with a slight jelly finish. 3 coats. I wanted to say this is a neon purple as most neon purples look like that but this one is super shiny. One of my co-workers thought it was a gel manicure. 

 Nomad is a light green creme. Illamasqua describes this color as a Jade, and it definitely does remind me of jade green. This was 2 coats. It was also super shiny!

 

After seeing the promo picture, I couldn't help but try to do the nail art, but in a different way. Instead of doing free hand to have the edges show some green too I used nail tip guide stickers to just make a some what moon design. I still like the way it turned out and the combination of the two colors!

The formula for both of these were excellent. Nomad was actually opaque in one coat, but I did two to even it out. As for Stance, since it had a slight jelly like finish, it was a bit sheer with just 1 coat. Under two thin coats there were some visible nail line, so I settled down with three. I love both of them and they were well worth the money to me. These are available at sephora.com and retials for $14 per bottle.

Day 2-3 of 30 day of untried challenge

Todays untrieds are brand spanking new just got them this past week. I finally gave in a bought an Illamasqua polish and I picked Jo'Mina since they didn't have Obsses. I love this polish its so bright and pretty and to top it off the application was great now I see why people like Illamasqua polishes. This is 2 coats of Jo'mina.

After wearing this polish for a day I decided I wanted to add something to it so why not use another new polish that I woke up extra early to order for me and my polish bestie Jen and only 275 people own this limited edition polish nothing else but Cult Nails Unicorn puke. I added a coat over Jo'mina unfortunately I didn't get any pic of it in the sun so apologize for the sucky pictures.

Illamasqua - Poke

Hey everyone! Again it's been a busy day in the life of Rebecca so I'm posting this later than usual!
I want to say I will be able to commit to my usual schedule soon but I have 2 midterms coming up so I might be sporadic for the next 2 weeks. I will do my best!

Today I'm going to show you an amazing purple polish that my mom got me in Las Vegas. But before I show you the swatch, I'm going to complain a little about the bottle/packaging.

This is Illamasqua - Poke.
Yes, I'm going to complain about Illamasqua. See how the polish in the bottle is noticeably reduced? This is because it leaked in my mom's suitcase on the way home. (Thankfully, it only leaked all over itself.)

Illamasqua polishes come in a box just big enough for the polish to fit inside.
Therefore, the cap and the bottle must be perfectly aligned for the bottle to fit inside the box.
My bottle, however, prefers to look like this:

So, for it to fit in the box, it was not closed all the way. And now I have this:

A big purple mess! It was SO much worse than this.
Polish mostly went up into the cap, and then some came out and down the sides of the bottle and coated the insides of the box.
I got it all cleaned up, put the cap back on, and then minutes later I had another mess because polish was still dripping down from way up inside the cap!
Big mess. A pain to clean up. But this color is worth it.

Purples are a bit hard to photograph - this photo is a bit out of focus but the most accurate representation of the color. Bright purple with a bluish white shimmer. Super vibrant!

I had this one on a list of things for my mom to look for, and she found it! My mom is a good polish shopper.

Is there a purple polish I don't like? I don't think so.

Illamasqua Poke

Today I have Illamasqua Poke to share with you guys. I've read a lot of rave about this polish, but when I saw swatches of them I just didn't see what was so great about it. But while browsing at Sephora one day I decided to try it. The polish in person is stunning. It's the type of polish where you have to see it in person to see the beauty of it.


Poke is a vibrant royal purple with silver shimmer and flashes of blue in certain lighting. 2 coats.

My picture does no justice for this polish. You definitely have to see it in person to appreciate it. The formula was flawless, it wasn't too thick or thin, and heavily pigmented , opaqued with one coat. I did two coats out of habit. It spread out perfectly and evenly.

Illamasqua Spam - Toxic Nature and Throb Collection

Good evening all! I promised a post today so here I am. I have a bunch of Illamasqua swatches to share with you guys today. All are from the Throb Collection and Toxic Nature collection. I am a huge fan of Illamasqua polishes; aside from them burning a whole in my wallet, I can't get enough.



Throb Collection





Throb is a cherry red creme. 2 coats. It was opaqued in one coat but I did two to even it out. I probably have about 30 red creme polishes but it doesn't really matter to me. I really like this one. It's a red I can wear.





Load is a creamy buttery white creme. 2 coats. This happens to be my favorite one because the color is quite unique. It's not yellow enough for it to be called a pastel yellow. It reminds me a lot of butter. Not to mention it wasn't streaky and was opaque in two coats and extremely smooth.





Scorn is a black matte creme with a rubbery leather like finish. 2 coats. Pretty interesting, I like the finish.



Toxic Nature Collection





Radium is a bright yellow green with a hint of shimmer. 2 coats. A very interesting color especially when certain lights hit it; it gives a blue shimmer. I love the subtle shimmer as well.





Purity is a pale peach creme. 2 coats. Purity is the only 'calm' looking shade of the whole collection. It applied incredibly smooth as well.





Gamma is a bright orange creme. 2 coats. This one dried matte like neon but it wasn't 'neony' enough to be classified as a neon. It was just a really really bright orange creme. I like it though!





Bacterium is a taupey light brown with subtle blue shimmer. 2 coats. This is a VERY interesting color. Definitely unique on its own. I love the subtle hint of blue shimmer on certain lighting. It's such a weird color, staring at it makes me just think..





Stagnate is a purple grey brown creme. 2 coats. I think it's the perfect name for it. Color suits it well.



Well there you have it. Can you imagine the amount of money I spent on these polishes? I shake my head every time I think about it. But I feel that it's quite worth it. Illamasqua polishes are extremely smooth and applies so well that's worth every penny. Some of the colors they produce is so unique where you don't see much of it. Take Bacterium for example, I was in awe of that color. The formula for these were all excellent with zero complaints.

Illamasqua's Spring/Summer 2011 Toxic Nature Collection

Morning everyone!! Well, after much arguing with hubby and my bff/neighbor, I went to the dr. ps. I HATE the dr. It's sort of an anxiety I have, I don't know it's weird, anyways, I have Bronchitis *sigh* At least I got my antibiotics. Okay enough of that, on to some fun.

While being home sick, I got a surprise package from Illamasqua, I had no idea what it was, but I discovered it's 3 of the new polishes from Toxic Nature!!!!! Alex from Illamasqua, was so sweet to send these to me for my review. I was soooo excited, and of course, coughing my brains out, attempted my swatches, lol, and after about 300 pictures later, I finally finished. You should have seen the blurry messes I took while coughing. Now, some pics are taken in different lighting, I was trying my hardest to capture the true color, but since two are neons, my camera had issues.

According to the paper I got with them, these are available as of March 10th in the US, and in UK stores March 17th. There are a total of 5 in the collection:

Purity - Peach
*Bacterium - Pearlescent Ash Ochre

*Radium - Acidic Lime Shimmer

Stagnate - Grey Mauve

*Gamma - Neon Orange

* - these are the 3 I received

I also loved their photos they did for this collection. 

Now, I only owned 1 Illamasqua polish before this, but I really love their bottles and their formula is among the best out there. It goes on so easy with minimal effort

Okay onto the pics finally!!

2 coats of Bacterium. This is my fave of the 3, although there are semi brush strokes, I don't care, it's such a unique color, and that's what I love!

Radium, this is soooo bright, that my camera has a hard time with neons :( There was no sun today either, so maybe tomorrow I will post some sunlight pics, if we get any. The shimmer in this is beautiful, and trust me, it's much brighter in person.

Gamma, now I'm not a huge orange fan, but I love it. It really is neon, so once again, my camera was angry, lol. Maybe tomorrow, if there is sun, I'll try again, but again, WAY brighter in person.

Illamasqua Spam

Greetings all! I finally finished swatching most of my untried Illamasqua brand polishes. And since I haven't updated for awhile, what else is better than an Illamasqua spam post?



Jo'mina is a bright lilac creme. It's a little similar to Color Club's Puccilicious but I feel that Jo'mina is lighter than Puccilicious.


Jo'mina over Prism. Prism came with the collection with Jo'mina and Force. I love how prism gives it a blue iridescent glow


Force is a bright royal blue creme 2 coats


Prism over Force again it gives this glowy look that I like


Hectic is a deep olive green creme. 2 coats


Phallic is a blackened blue with blue flecks of shimmer. 2 coats


Smash is a semi-neon green creme. It's not neon enough to have that neon glow but it sure is bright enough. 2 coats


Jan is a muted gray pink creme. 2 coats


Velocity is a gray rosey mauve. A little hard to describe this color.. 2 coats


Elope is your true mean green creme. 2 coats

I've always loved Illamasqua nail polishes, that's why I bought so many even though they retail for $14 a bottle. Some cost me more because I bought them from illamasqua.com which costs me international shipping. What I love most is how heavily pigmented these polishes are. They were pretty opaque in one coat, but I did all two coats for even coverage.

My very 1st Illamasqua!!!!!!

I am VERY excited to say, I finally own a Illamasqua, lol, and a color I've wanted for a while, Baptiste. As soon as I got home from work, I slapped it on for my mani, and was instantly loving it. 
Let's be honest here, I really can't remember a time, that I actually wore a mani, with no type of nail art done to it, so of course I Konaded over it :P I used China Glaze Harmony for the design.
