Winner of Pink Week Challenge

Posted by Unknown on Wednesday, November 9, 2011

I've received several questions about who "won" the Pink Week Challenge.

That's not quite how it was done. There was no winner. Good Lack, Nail simply arranged for Vampy Varnish to review everyone's posts and pick one favorite from EACH person's week worth. So all 8 of us technically won. There was no overall winner. Here is Good Lack, Nail's post about the "best-ofs."

Vampy Varnish chose my Candy Hearts design as the best look I came up with for Pink Week. I agree with her, it was my favorite as well! I hope this clears up the confusion about the end of Pink Week!

Blogger Challenge - Day 7 - Brand Dedication

Posted by Unknown on Sunday, October 30, 2011

I've had so much fun with this challenge, I almost don't want it to end! It was difficult to come up with so many different looks, but I'm really happy with the art I layered over it each day.
For today I wanted to doodle some little bottles of nail polish since we love them so much. These are some of my favorite brands.

Essie - Coat Azure
I love the Essie bottles because they store so neatly and I love the raised name on the side. There is a little old lady that has always called me Elsie because she can't pronounce my name (that's the story behind my e-mail address). So Essie is close enough to Elsie that I like it for that reason too! Lol

OPI - Its All Greek to Me
Who doesn't love OPI?! They deserve the right to be one of the top dogs in the polish world.

Cult Nails - My Kind of Cool Aid
Maria is doing phenomenal things in the polish community and we all appreciate her giving us a glimpse into the process with her blog R3Daily.com. I'm always excited to see what she comes up with.

China Glaze - For Audrey
Last but not least. Ah, how I love you! Awesome colors and some of the best prices... China Glaze you make my dreams come true. :)

Well that's it for the Blogger Challenge! Did you enjoy it? I sure did. Now I'm off to find something that's not pink...

Blogger Challenge - Day 6 - Kirby

Posted by Unknown on Saturday, October 29, 2011

For today I thought it would be perfect to use my pink as a tribute to Kirby! That cute little fat pink guy in the video games.
I used 2 coats of China Glaze Fairy Dust layered over my base of Laced Up. A mix of polishes and acrylic paints were used for Kirby himself and the thumb detail.
That nail is the star rod that was featured in so much of the game.
It was tough to do the details tiny enough to fit all of him on the nail.
This challenge has been so much fun. I've really enjoyed it!

Blogger Challenge - Day 5 - Power Rangers

Posted by Unknown on Friday, October 28, 2011

What did I do today?
A tribute to Kimberly the pink Power Ranger!
The Power Rangers in general were suggested by multiple followers using my form box at the bottom of the page. Thanks to Faith N. & Rachel!

I used my base polish for this week of China Glaze Laced Up and then details with black, white, and silver polish. Go! Go! Power Rangers!
Closeup of the helmet accent nail. There are even some tiny, darker silver lips that sadly don't show up well.

This was a fun look to wear. It's like a Lisa Frank childhood craft project! I used the same splatter technique that I explained in this old post.

I started with my polish for the week China Glaze Laced Up.

Then I splattered on Sally Hansen Insta Dri Lightening.

Then I splattered on Sally Hansen Insta Dri Blue Blast.

Then I splattered on China Glaze Spontaneous.

Clean up and add topcoat!

I used my base of China Glaze Laced Up. The hearts are made using China Glaze Lemon Fizz, Something Sweet, Refresh Mint, also Essence The One and Only.
I was able to create this manicure with the help of Rebecca. I got this stamping plate and stamping polish from her! Thanks Rebecca! This is Nail Art Diva Heartfelt Red polish with the "From the Heart 1" image plate.
Adorable! Don't you think?

Blogger Challenge - Day 2 - Sneakers

Posted by Unknown on Tuesday, October 25, 2011

Nine of us bloggers from all over the world have agreed to this challenge initiated by Caroline @ GoodLackNail. It was her idea for us all to post for one week straight using the same pink polish (of our choice from our own stash) in a different way each day. Layer it, stamp it, freehand over it, but you must use the same pink in each manicure. I thought it would be a great to participate and see so many ideas for pink manicures that coincide with Breast Cancer Awareness Month! At the end of the week our looks will be judged by Vampy Varnish to determine which was each of our best!

Who is participating?
1.Deniz from Emerald Sparkled is using Flor Mar #29 (Istanbul, Turkey)
2.Caroline from Good Lack Nail is using OPI Do you think I'm Tex-y? (Vienna, Austria)
3.ME! Leslie from Nail Polish Art Addiction is using China Glaze Laced Up (Louisiana USA)

This is the look I came up with for Day 2. How fitting to do sneakers with a polish from the "Custom Kicks" Collection that's named "Laced Up!" I know it's very pun-ny but that's the whole point! Lol
I've seen several designs like this floating around. I'm in no way claiming this is my original design, but I didn't copy any one person's specific manicure.

It is really easy to do! Paint enitre nail pink and add a white french tip. Add a tiny black striper polish line where they meet.

Draw two tiny lines going up the nail like so:

Add dots evenly spaced on the outside of the lines. I was able to have 3 rows of dots on my thumb, but could only fit 2 rows on my other nails.

Start lacing your shoe with some a white nail art striper.

Add a topcoat and you're done!

Keep coming back for more on this Blogger Challenge!

The polish I chose is China Glaze Laced Up. It's perfect in two coats.

Of course I wanted to stick to freehand as it's what I most enjoy. Here is my first look using China Glaze Laced Up. Watermelons! It's still warm enough here that I can think of summer time watermelons.

Here are some step by step photos if you're interested in how I did it!

I absolutely loved the way the accent nail turned out. I will definitely be doing these again!

Polishes I used for this manicure:
China Glaze Laced Up
OPI Jade Is the New Black
My personal light green franken
Pure Ice Free Spirit
Black acrylic paint for the "seeds"

Stay tuned all week to see what else we come up with!
