Yet Another Bundle Monster Contest!

Posted by Unknown

Good afternoon, loves!
Twice before I have participated in Bundle Monster's nail art contests. I was a winner in their first one (I got their second set of plates!) and in the second one, I was a finalist (and I got a $10 gift card!)

This time around, I'm looking for another win! I can't wait to get my hands on their upcoming set of plates, and winning them would make them even better!

Here's the mani that I came up with for this year's contest.

This mani kept evolving as I was doing it! It turned out very different from what I had planned but I think it definitely went in the right direction.

The white stamping you see was done with BM-201.
The black stamping is from BM06.

Originally the white was going to be black, and I was gonna stop there, but I'm so happy I decided to go for white stamping and the accent stamps!

You're probably wondering what all the technicolor goodness is behind the stamping!
Well, it's magic. So I can't reveal my tricks.

Just kidding! I'll let you in on the magic.
I did the watercolor technique using all six colors from the Color Club Take Wing Collection.

I've done a tutorial on the watercolor effect, click here to see it!
Quick refresher - the watercolor technique is done with a semi-fluffy soft brush and acetone.
You start with a white (or light) base that you've topcoated and let dry completely. You add on small dots of color, and immediately blob them around with your soft brush that's been dipped in acetone.
Like I said, check the tutorial for a more in-depth tutorial and pictures!

I was so happy with how the colors looked in the watercolor, but I think adding that stamp really set it off.

At first I was gonna submit it like this, without the accent stamps, but I decided to go for it and make my mani that much more interesting!

I love my mani. And I hope you do too!

The voting process is very simple, you just go to the specific entry and click the big VOTE button!
If you've got Facebook, click HERE to go to my entry!
If you don't have Facebook, click HERE to go to my entry!

You can vote once per day all throughout the week. If you voted for me, thank you!
And be sure to check out all the contest manis because there are some beauties in there!

nail art contest WINNER!

Posted by Unknown on Friday, April 6, 2012

Hey everyone! This took me a little longer than expected, judging turned out to be a long process!

With no further ado, here is the winner of my nail art contest...

Yay! I fell in love with this design as soon as it was posted and it also received the most votes from my panel of judges. Using my blog design as inspiration? Totally cool. (And adding the bows? Perfect!)
I'm about to email the winner to let her know, and she should have her lovely gift card soon!

Thank you to each and every one of you who entered the contest. I loved seeing your nails and reading your posts, it was so much fun for me.
It was SO hard to chose my favorites, there were so many great ones!
I'm sure I'll have to recreate some of the manis in the future because you guys have great ideas.
Don't forget, you can still see the contest entry post to be inspired by all the pretty pictures there.

Again I want to thank Inlinkz for providing me with the awesome tool for running this contest, and of course for providing the great prize. I loved the software, it was so easy and interactive, so I'm sure I'll be having another contest like this again in the future! If you didn't win this time, don't be sad, and keep your thinking cap on for the next one!

Have a great day ladies!

Nail Art Contest Reminder!

Posted by Unknown on Thursday, March 22, 2012

Hey everyone! This post is just a little reminder to make sure you submit your fabulous entries to my nail art contest because there are only a few days left!
Click here to go to the post and submit your design.
There are so many great entries, I'm so happy you all found inspiration to enter!

And just so this post is not totally picture-free, check out the awesome mail I got yesterday...

A big honkin' Sephora order! I almost kissed the mail man because he even brought it a day early!
It's no secret that I'm obsessed with Betsey Johnson so of course I had to pick up some polishes from her new Sephora by OPI collection. I got It's My Pink which is a great hot pink and scented like Betsey's perfume, Too Too. I also got the mini set of 6 polishes which are adorable.

And then I noticed an awesome deal on her perfume, which jumped into my cart before I could say no! It's a gift set that comes with the Too Too fragrance in the adorable bottle ($62 on its own,) the rollerball vial of Too Too ($18 on its own) and a Betsey Johnson clutch! Which is a big pink and sparkly bow. Which means I love it. There's no value of the clutch given but you can be sure it's a pretty penny. And you get all of it together for just the cost of the perfume! $62!
That's an amazing deal considering I probably would have bought the perfume alone at some point this year while on vacation and near a Sephora.
(I can't comment on how it smells because I haven't regained my sense of smell from my sinus infection yet! Haha!)
Yay for good deals! And yay for Betsey! Keep an eye out for swatches soon because I'm super excited to try them.

Now go enter my nail art contest!

Rebecca Likes... Nail Art Contests!

Posted by Unknown on Monday, March 12, 2012

Hey everyone! Welcome to my very first nail art contest!
I'm really excited to do something fun and interactive for my readers and I want to thank Inlinkz for giving me the software to make this happen, and for supplying the prize.

Not only is this going to be fun for me and for you guys, it can also bring traffic to you! You might be familiar with the contest that Chalkboard Nails just had - all the people who submitted their designs had lots of views from people checking out their submissions. So not only are you getting a chance to show me your skills and win a prize, you can also get more people visiting your blog! Win win!

Let's do this!

THE THEME:
My favorite things! I want you to create a manicure that you think I'd love, using my favorite nail art techniques or themes, which are: gradients, animal print, bows, dots, and Hello Kitty.
Create your manicure using one (or more!) of those 5 ideas, and submit it.
Your design doesn't have to be limited to these ideas but just make sure at least one is included somewhere.
Feel free to go back through my posts and take inspiration from them!

THE PRIZE:
A $25 giftcard to Ninja Polish! This is a brand new online polish store, run by two of my friends. They carry a lot of awesome polish at seriously great prices. Go check them out and plan what you could buy with your winnings. This prize is sponsored by Inlinkz.

THE JUDGING:
This contest will be judged by me and a panel of judges, including some friends and probably my mom!

THE RULES:
- One entry per person.
- Your design must include one of the five elements listed above.
- Your design can be new or old but must be your own, on your own nails.
- This contest is open internationally but please note that Ninja Polish does not ship to Italy, Brazil or Russia.
- Stamping is allowed.
- Acrylic paint is not prohibited, but please make sure your design is primarily made with nail polish.
- You must submit your design using the Inlinkz tool at the bottom of this post between now and 11:59pm, March 26th, 2012. To submit, create a blog post about your design, or if you don't have a blog, upload your image on a free online photo website like Photobucket or Picasa. Click the "Add Your Link" button below and leave a direct URL to your post or image. (Please ensure you link to the specific post and not just your blog's homepage.)

Muppets "Animal" OPI Facebook Entry

Posted by Unknown on Friday, December 16, 2011

So, yeah.... Um the rules say you can't publish the image prior to the contest, so I'm not posting the finished entire manicure. Instead I'll just show you the accent nails individually. ;) How's that for a loop hole? My previous weeks entries have not even ranked top 5, so I doubt I'll win with this manicure anyway. So enjoy it! :)

OPI's Mani Madness Contest on Facebook. Each week is Muppet themed, this week is "Animal" and you can go here to vote for my entry while you check out all of the entries!

Animal was always on the drums!

Bundle Monster chain image stamped on the tips, because let's face it.... Those chains were always swinging around him. :)

Don't forget to vote!

I entered a contest... What do you think?

Posted by Unknown on Monday, September 12, 2011

September 12, 2011

So I entered a contest-- my first one ever! The theme was very broad and fun (hence why I entered). The theme was "If it Shines" which happens to be the blog name of a really awesome blog. If you are interested in entering, you have until September 30! Here is the link. So be honest.......what do you think of my entry? I spent most of the day Sunday trying to think of an idea! All I could think of was blingy! I would NEVER wear these nails, but I thought they fit the theme, but after seeing another blog's entry, I am wondering if I went in the right direction.

Tacos

Posted by Unknown on Tuesday, August 23, 2011

Another set of nails dedicated to my love of Taco Bell. These were done for Nail Polish Art Addiction's contest "Good Enough To Eat." Which I, of course, did not win. But that's only because there were SOOO many amazing entries. It was a great contest that really showed off a lot of talent. My absolute favorite nails in the contest were Cathy's Vegemite nails, which Leslie (The nail polish art addict) blogged further about at the link.

"Thank God I'm a Woman" Contest Entry

Posted by Unknown on Thursday, August 4, 2011

Orlica over at Confessions of a Polishaholic is hosting another clever nail art contest. It took me a while to figure out exactly what I wanted to do, but once I had it I was in love! You might remember my post about "my lipstick," well here is the nail art contest entry that it originally was a part of. :)

"I wanted my design to be super girly and feminine because that's the part that I like about being a woman. Getting prissy with makeup! If your lucky to have a special someone.... getting jewelry! Perhaps in a Tiffany & Co box? And vintage floral patterns always look so delicate and I love them! That is my look and I hope you like it. Please note that the inspiration for some of my designs (the lipstick & the diamond) were taken from The Illustrated Nail on Tumblr. So please give due credit. ;)"
These are the polishes I used for this look. I used only polishes on all nails with the exception of the lipstick which has black and white acrylic paint as some of the layers.

I hope you like it! Vote for me here! I'm number 2, but there are some other great entries as well. I'm also quite impressed with number 4 and number 10. So vote for whichever design is best!

Additional Winners Are....

Posted by Unknown on Tuesday, June 28, 2011

The judging round has concluded! After a 20 minute heated discussion.... we have reached our decision!
In no particular order.....

Love @ First Sight
I have loved Marion's creation from the minute she sent it to me. I think her design is so well executed. The turkey is adorable! So I loved it, and my family agreed that it was worthy of a prize!

"Reely" Creative Use of Cartoons
I love how Lisa incorporated cartoons and food! This is perfectly fitting for my blog topic! You guys know I love painting cartoons, and there were several of you guys who used cartoon related topics, but Lisa's were by far the best execution!

Highest Calories
Irma was very clever in the way she designed her nails. She used each nail to represent a different ingredient to Boston Cream Cake, then the thumb brought out the final product. So cute! Great job!

Most Unappetizing
I said, Do ya speak-a my language? She just smiled and gave me a vegemite sandwich!
Yeah, a fourth category was created so I can use that line from "Men at Work".....
When I asked Cathy from "a land down und-a," what does Vegemite even taste like... she said this:
"Well, it’s a very salty and savoury spread, intended to be spread very thinly.  It has a similar consistency to peanut butter but would taste similar to Marmite or Bonox?
It can be used as a flavour enhancer for stocks and gravies, so it has a flavour likened to concentrated dark mean like beef.
Sounds gross doesn’t it, but we grew up on it and love the stuff!!"
Yes, that does sound disgusting! But her design was interesting enough that I'll pack her up some nail art goodies and send them her way. Unfortunate for me & Kim, our mom now is determined to order some Vegemite online and try it.....

Quotes from the hilarious judging session:

Micah - "Can you put Vegemite in a Bloody Mary?"
Argued with me over the rules of my own contest and that this one or that one wasn't even on natural nails. Like I don't know nails....

Mom - "What is this one?" ...cheese.... "It's gotta be in the runnings!"

Dad - "Who's having a contest?"
"What are we looking at here? Is this supposed to be fingernails?"
"Do they expect to win anything of value?"
*edit* Removed by author
"Hey, this one looks like fish!" Yes, master-stater of the obvious......
I swear he is just clueless.... but completely honest and nonbiased! He was the most intent in studying the pictures. (I don't want you to get the wrong opinion of my dad, he is a very successful businessman who works helping people with financial investments.... Scary, huh?)

Then the most favorite meal in Serbia - Sarma (something like cabbage rolls; we make that with cabbage, bacon and minced meat). Sarma doesn't look nice when you see it, but it's very delicious.
