Hello Kitty Noir Collection Nail Lacquers

Today I have the nail lacquers from the Hello Kitty Noir Collection to share with you guys. These are available at Sephora, retailing at $10 a bottle. I got these during their Friends and Family discount :)


Red Sparkle is red glitter with flashes of gold. 3 coats


Gold Star is gold micro glitters. 3 coats


Night Sparkle is a blackened olive green shimmer. 2 coats


Silver Star is a dark silver glitter with big round holographic glitters. 3 coats.

The formula for these were pretty good. I couldn't help but love the bottles. I find it absolutely adorable. For glitters they were pretty smooth, only one coat of top coat was required. My favorite is actually Gold Star. Even though it's not unique (I mean how many gold glitters do we have/know) there's something about it that caught my attention.

I'm not super impressed with the nail polishes for this collection, but I absolutely love the palettes and the brush sets. But being the Hello Kitty fanatic I am, I had to have these.

Nail Polish Blogger Challenge - Day 3

Hi everyone! Time for day three of the challenge - and this one is cute overload. I'll get right to it.

Hearts!!
I've been wanting to do another polka-heart mani for a long time - you might remember the first one I did ages ago which you can see here. It's been one of my most popular posts since I posted it!
(Coincidentally it was featured yesterday on Babble.com's 25 Fun & Flirty Nail Trends to Try! Good timing then, for me to post another!)

Of course - the base is Color Club Peppermint Twist for the challenge.

I did the hearts freehand with a white 2-way nail art pen. Surprisingly it didn't take all that long to draw all the hearts!

I thought they sort of matched my Hello Kitty calendar... So here's a pic!
And while we're on the subject of HK...

Look at this great new Hello Kitty stamping plate I got!
I got this baby on eBay from this listing. The seller has quite a few adorable plates! And at a decent price. I might have to buy another one or two! (Especially the one with the bows... And Transformer logos...)

Hello Kitty

Hello Kitty nails were requested by Ron's mom Susie. I was never a huge fan of Helly Kitty, but I do like a lot of the other  Sanrio characters (like Keroppi). I got inspiration from Simply Rins' design which is both beautiful and simplistic. It didn't photograph well, but if you look closely you can see that there is actually holographic glitter on top of the green. It's actually a holographic acrylic paint... I was trying  to find a cheaper alternative to amazing holo nail polishes, but it kind of failed in that it wasn't very striking. Oh well!

31 Day Challenge: Day 21

Good morning everyone, and welcome to the final section of the 31 Day Challenge! If you want a refresher of what exactly this challenge is, head to my Day 1 post.

This final section of themes are all inspired by something or other. Today's theme is Inspired By A Color.

I wasn't quite sure how to go about this one, and then I chatted with a friend about it, who gave me the great idea to make it inspired by a polish color, and use the name to enhance the inspiration!
(That friend, is Sarah from Chalkboard Nails, and she is awesome! Seriously check out her blog. She has been doing this 31 Day Challenge right alongside me and she has blown me away every day!)

I looked at a few polishes, seeing which names could make a good design, and I settled on this one:

H&M - I Love Candy. Yep, another Hello Kitty polish from the lovely Line in Denmark.

This is a 2-coat shimmery purple polish, awesome formula, awesome color!

It's full of pink shimmer. Very nice! The quality of H&M's polishes is shockingly good.

Now, to bring in the inspiration from the name! Candy!

Cute little candies!

Awkward hand position to try and catch the last bits of sun coming in my windows!

I used a very small brush to draw on these candies using polishes from the China Glaze Kicks Collection:
China Glaze - It's Poppin' (pink)
China Glaze - Entourage (green)
China Glaze - Sky High Top (blue)

What would this design have been without some Hello Kitty decals? Haha! Too cute.

31 Day Challenge: Day 11

Hi guys! Today's post is the first post in a very long time with very short nails.
Don't worry, my nails grow fast, but for now they are nubs!
(I don't really mind them, though.)

Today's theme is Polka Dot Nails.
I already did polka dots on the Black and White day, not realizing I would have to do more a few days later!
Those were uneven polka dots, so today I wanted to do more evenly spaced polka dots.

Before I show you the mani, let me show you the polishes I used.

Hello, babies!

These adorable polishes were sent to me by my saucy Danish friend Line.
The same girl who sent me the Gosh Holographic for my giveaway! (Which ends tomorrow night, by the way!)

These are just the cutest. And so perfectly "me." Hello Kitty and animal print!
There is a third that is purple, but it is in a different bottle, and I'll show you that one another time.
Thank you so much Line! I love them so much!

I'm thinking they meant to spell that "Coral" but either way, I'm not really sure what coral has to do with blue polish. (H&M must have poor English translators. Corall Summer? Pink Paradies? Wawawoom?)

Pink Summer is a lovely creme pink, not very unique but very pretty. The formula is good - a bit thick but not unmanageable. Almost covers in one coat but you need two for perfect opacity.

 
I wish these came in every color.

Corall Summer is an aqua blue creme, again not very unique. The formula on this one is less thick, and it needs 2 coats to cover.

Don't you love how the bows match the opposite bottles? And the lids? So cute!

Now, if you're not sick of my short nails yet, I'll show you my dots mani!

Tiny dots! Very tedious.

After finishing this mani, I really feel like I have done this before, but I don't think I have! I looked through my posts with the "dots" tag and I can't find anything.

Even if I potentially did it before, I still love it! Haha.
I did this mani with a small dotting tool, which seriously helps get the dots even. If you love polka dot manis but hate trying to make them even, invest in some dotting tools! You can get them really cheap on ebay.

See those two black dots on my middle finger? They came off my Seche Vite brush. Annoying!!

I think I might have just remembered why these look so familiar, I did the same color combo before in a crackle mani. Maybe that's it...

I wonder how long my nails will be by the end of this 31 day challenge! We'll have to wait and see...

sephora hello kitty liquid nail art - pink sprinkles

Hello everyone! Before I start today's post I just want to give a little mention to the fact that I now have over 1500 followers! I just want to say thanks to each and every one of you. I totally appreciate all your lovin' and comments and love watching my follower number grow because it means I get to share my passion with more and more people.

Today I'm showing you my second Hello Kitty for Sephora polish.

I decided that my first one was lonely and needed a friend. A sparkly friend.

I picked the pink one up at Sephora in Buffalo for $9.50 I believe. In Canada they are $13. You can also find them on eBay for close to retail price.

Hello Kitty Liquid Nail Art - Pink Sprinkles is different from Purple Sprinkles in that it would never be opaque on its own. It looks like the base is quite pink in the bottle, but putting some on white paper proves that the base is virtually clear:

Aren't the colors of the iridescent glitter awesome? I love it!



So because it is nearly clear, I chose to layer this over another pink polish. Gotta keep with the pink theme.

This is Pure Ice - Strip Tease which is another of the polishes from my vacation haul. This was from Walmart and only cost around $1. I would have bought a ton of these just because they were so cheap but they didn't have many colors left in the display.

This was the only one that stood out to me because of the pretty shimmer!

This one starts a bit sheer but covers well after 3 coats.



Now for the cuteness!

I don't think you understand how much I love these bottles. I want the other 6 colors from the line just to have a whole family of kitties on my shelf, but they're too expensive to get them all.

This is 2 thin coats of Pink Sprinkles. The base is a bit runny, so you need to apply thin coats or it will totally flood your cuticles.

Because the base is thin, it is a bit hard to get a lot of glitter on your brush.

I think after I use it a few times and it thickens up it will be more satisfying.

Born Pretty Store review!

Good afternoon everyone! Today I have an exciting post, as well as exciting news.

I'll start with the news.

I was recently given the chance to review a product for Born Pretty!

I chose to review one of their plates, m56, and they also sent me a stamper and scraper!

It's no secret that many bloggers love Born Pretty. They have great products at amazing prices. And they ship free, world wide. What more could you ask for?
I've purchased things from Born Pretty before which is why I have no problem advertising for them - they are an awesome company and I am very pleased with their products.

I always wanted Konad plate m56 for the bow image, so I decided to try the Born Pretty version. You can buy this plate here for $2.99, or you can get a set of 16 Konad-style plates here for $18.48. (Awesome deal! It includes all my favorite plates, too!)
You can purchase the stamper/scraper set here for $2.03.

The stamper and scraper are your usual rubber stamper and metal scraper.
Personally I prefer the plastic scrapers because I find you need to press harder with a metal one to get all the polish to scrape off. It still works fine, you just need a bit more effort.

The plates come with an easy-to-remove blue film! The fact that it is blue really helps get it off.

Here is a closeup of the plate. It is etched perfectly and has no flaws.

All the images transfer well and without problems! (2 of the hearts stuck to the stamper because I waited too long to transfer, but that was my fault, not the plate.)
Two of the images are a bit too small for my thumbnails (the swirls and the flowers) but not everyone would have this problem.

I've wanted that cute bow for a long time, so I couldn't wait to do a mani with it!

I started with 2 coats of Essence - Movie Star, which Traci sent me! Thanks Trace!

Movie Star is a dark gray creme that is perfectly opaque in 2 coats.

I wanted this polish because I wanted a darker gray than China Glaze Recycle.
Looking at the bottles, the two aren't very different from each other so I was a bit disappointed at first.

But, Movie Star dries darker than bottle color, so it ended up being exactly what I wanted!

In the above picture, I am holding the Recycle bottle. You can see how Movie Star is much deeper.
I think this might be a dupe for China Glaze's Concrete Catwalk from the new Metro collection but I'm not sure if they're exact. Either way, this polish totally kills my need for a dark gray!

Now for the bows!

Sooooooo cute!

As you can see, it fits my thumb perfectly!
I stamped with Sally Hansen Insta Dri in Presto Pink, and added 1.5mm pink rhinestones to the bows.

I am a bow addict. If it has bows, I want it. Stamping plates, clothes, you name it.
