Hi guys!
I've got a busy day ahead of me packing orders for You Mix with Dustin. But it's a good busy. :) I also wanted to ask you readers if any of you are interested in buying glitter that isn't solvent resistant. Maybe for some of you crafty ladies out there? You can find my email in the contact tab if you are interested. We have collected a good amount while testing glitters for You Mix.
Today's mani was just ok for me. I used Zoya Rory for the base. Rory reminds me of Gilmore Girls...I miss that show! Layered on top is White Wedding from Candy Lacquer. I wanted to like this polish, but it was way too sparse for my liking, and some of the glitters wouldn't really lay flat. It's still a fun over all mani, I think,.
I do love what Candy Lacquer has to offer though, so definitely check out
their shop!

Hi everyone!
I have a swatch for you from Sonoma Nail Art. This one is called Parasol. I layered 2 coats over Milani Digital. I was amazed at how shiny the whole thing turned out!
I tried to capture the holo from Digital, but I'm not sure it showed up as well in pics.
This polish has a great formula with a nice amount of glitter. I'm pretty sure Michelle is restocking tomorrow and this polish is in the sale, so keep an eye out!
Thanks for reading!

Hi polish lovers!
I hope everyone had a great Memorial Day weekend. I got in some pool time and finally don't feel like the pale ghost I have been living the past four years in Idaho. haha I also pulled something in my neck yesterday and haven't been able to move it without pain so I have just kinda been laying low today. Fun when you have an 18 month old to chase around. haha
Today's post features a few polishes from
Pretty and Polished. This is one of my favorite indie polish sellers and Chelsea, the mastermind behind the gorgeous glitters you are about to see, is super sweet and obviously very talented.
So first is Sand Art. These are matte glitters, some are super fine and others are small. I think the name for this is perfect and I love the effect this gives! I layered 2 coats over Sally Hansen Insta Dri Blue Me Away for this look.
Next is Bayou Blitz. I had been eyeing this one for a while, and am so glad I finally got it! I know my picture is not doing this polish much justice at all, but you can still see why this is a special one. Bayou Blitz has a tinted minty-ish base with matte yellow glitters and larger matte purple, pink and yellow glitters. I layered 2 coats over Color Club Twiggy and it's like they were made for each other! The base in Bayou Blitz matches Twiggy perfectly. The larger glitters were pretty sparse and hard to place, so that's my only negative with this one.
Finally, here is Pool Party. Once again, loving the name...it's too perfect! At first I wasn't sure if I would like this one just looking at the bottle, but once applied I fell in love! This is 2 coats over Color Club Lumin-Icent which was a stupid choice because it doesn't look very good underneath Pool Party. Nonetheless, this polish just screams summer fun and makes me want to run off on a vacation!
So there are a few Pretty and Polished's for you! Which one(s) are your fave?

Hi lovely readers!!
I am hoping for a pool day today since it's gonna be super hot...can't wait!
I have layering combo to show ya'll today that I really enjoyed wearing. It involves (surprise, surprise) another indie polish from a shop called
Candy Lacquer. I fell in love with most of the glitters they have to offer!
So the one I am showing you today is called Beach Party (check out the super cute labels these have!). Beach Party has a mix of brightly colored glitters in square, hex, and bar shapes. I wouldn't call this your typical rainbow glitter though...there is just something different about it.
I layered Beach Party over Dr's Remedy Noble Navy. The formula was fantastic. Just the right amount of glitter to generously cover in one coat. I think the navy color just adds a little something extra to the overall look.
I had a hard time doing this polish justice, so trust that it's got more wow factor in person. :)

Good morning readers!
Can I just say that I am dying for the China Glaze Summer Neons collection? I am getting really antsy waiting for it to show up at my Sally's!!
Now that that's out of the way...on to today's mani! :)
This is yet another indie polish from
Lush Lacquer. I previously showed you another polish of their's, Chubby Checker, *
here*. This one is called Dreamsicle. It's a sheer blue base with pink shimmer with silver and turquoise glitters throughout. I did a sponging gradient using OPI Fly and Sally Hansen Insta Dri Blue Away and topped it all of with one coat of Dreamsicle.
Sadly, this is one that you gotta fish around a little for the bigger glitters. Plus I don't think I did this polish justice by doing only one coat. 3 coats looks a lot like Sinful Colors Cinderella but with glitter. Very pretty!
Don't these close up shots just make you happy?
Mmmm...love it!
I hope to wear this one again as a full coverage manicure instead of just layering so I can do this gorgeous polish full justice!!

Hey lovely readers!
Another indie polish today...surprised? I bet not. :)
Today I am showing you Actin-ium My Age from
Elemental Styles. This is a purple base with purple and silver holo glitters throughout. This is 3 coats for full coverage, but one would be awesome for layering.
But check this out! Once this baby hits sunlight, it really shines! Look at the holo prettiness that appears!
Pretty cool huh? I'm loving it!
Whitney has got some awesome polishes! Most aren't currently available due to the base shortage, but she hopes to be back in business soon!
How many of you have seen Elemental Styles polish before?

Hello!
I hope you guys are having a good Friday!
Today's featured polish comes from
Lush Lacquer, another super awesome indie seller. I recently ordered a few polishes from them and was very impressed with what I got. I honestly haven't been this excited about an indie polish in a while!
The one I am showing you today is called Chubby Checker, a sheer but shimmery base with various black and white glitters. When I saw this on Etsy, it looked like a milky pink base that would build up in a few coats. So I was a little surprised to it was actually a sheer shimmer. Honestly though, I think I like it a lot better that way! The base is sheer enough that it will go over any color, which makes this a really versatile polish.
Below is 2 coats of Chubby Checker over China Glaze Sweet Hook. The accent nail is 2 coats of Jordana Rhinestones.
I had this idea to stamp a poodle (from the Bundle Monster plates) on a nail with a leash going on to the other nails for a little 50s vibe. And then I couldn't find that one plate...the only one I wanted was gone. I mean, what are the chances?! Just figures. haha So this is where the mani ended. I still liked it a lot anyway.
I wanted to show you the lovely shimmer Chubby Checker has. I'm kinda obsessed. :)
Have you guys heard of Lush Lacquer? Do you like what you see from them?

Hey hey!
I have yet another indie polish to show you guys today. I don't know about you, but I LOVE discovering these!
This polish comes from
GlitterDaze and it's called Flirtini, part of her Simply Spring collection. The other polishes in it are amazing as well! Flirtini is a sheer pink base with small glitters and bar glitters as well as some micro glitters. This was 2 coats over OPI Pink Friday. The accent nail's base is Orly Lemonade with Sally Hansen Quick Chrome Pen used for stamping.
This mani reminds me of springtime! Also, I think Flirtini would look good over a variety of colors besides this pink that matches the base.
What do you think? Have any of you purchased from GlitterDaze? She seems to have most things in stock right now, so that's another reason to go check her out! ;)

Hey there!
It's been a while since I blogged last. Dustin and I finally made it to Tennessee and tomorrow I am driving to Orlando with my sister to drop her off for her internship at Disneyworld! After that, it should be back to regular posting, and You Mix Cosmetics will be back and better than ever as well!
Today's post features a polish from
Whimsical Ideas by Pam, an indie polish maker that sells through Facebook. The one I am showing you today is called Hatched. It's a pale yellow base with an array of sizes and colors of glitters. Most of them are pretty pastels. Below is 3 coats, but with some thinner I could have done 2. The formula was pretty good, I had to wait a little between coats, but it was nothing that was too annoying.
At first I wasn't too impressed with how the yellow looked on me, but it grew on me after a while. Even though this is a glitter, it's actually a toned down polish that isn't very loud or flashy, at least for my skin tone.
Such a fun, springy polish!
All you have to do is email her your order. She has some fabulous polishes, and there are a couple more of hers that I have been eyeing recently! Have any of you gotten any polish from Pam?
