Nail Polish Blogger Challenge - Day 4

Posted by Unknown on Thursday, October 27, 2011

Good evening! I just did my nails for today so I'm posting them a bit late.

Here they are!
They're not the most well done but I really like them!

Ages ago, I saw a picture on tumblr of gray nails with a neon pink tip. It's been in my mind to do ever since, so today is the day!

It's not the neatest up close but from a distance it looks great!
(And my ring looks great too - Walmart $7)

The pink is, again, Color Club Peppermint Twist
The gray is China Glaze Recycle.
And the black stripes which I did with a striper brush were done with Wet N Wild Black Creme. (My striper brush sucks...)

I did the thumb differently as an accent nail. I stamped the bow image from Konad m59 with Peppermint Twist but it didn't stamp opaque enough - so I used a detail brush to fill it in. It looks a bit messy but I actually sort of link the imperfect look of this nail.

How did I get the inspiration for my bow nail? A new adorable shirt I have...

I got it from Forever 21 and I am in love with it. Of course it needed a nail dedication.

I hope you guys liked this manicure! I wonder what I'll come up with for the next three days...

31 Day Challenge: Day 27

Posted by Unknown on Tuesday, September 27, 2011

Day 27! I'm almost there!
Today's theme is Inspired by Artwork.

For me, it was easy to choose an artist to be inspired by. Andy Warhol. My all-time favorite.
But what painting could I chose to somehow represent on my nails?

I did a bit of googling, and one print stood out.

I decided to do like Andy and stamp the same image three times.
I don't have a gun stamp, obviously, so I chose my favorite image instead!

Bows!

I know this manicure is loosely inspired, but I'm actually really proud that I came up with this! I really enjoy this look.
I should have used a brighter pink but it's still good.

The base color is Orly - Lollipop, and I stamped the bow image from Konad m59 with Sally Hansen Insta-Dri - Whirlwind White, Nail Art Diva - Heartfelt Red, and Wet N Wild - Black Creme.

Oh, Andy. One day I will have a house filled with your prints.
What do you guys think of my Andy Warhol nails? I love them!

rebecca's new favorite manicure! featuring Orly - Frolic

Posted by Unknown on Sunday, July 10, 2011

Yes you read the title right! I have a new favorite manicure.
Sometimes you put a polish on your nails and you never want to take it off. That happened to me with Orly's Frolic.

Frolic is from the new Happy Go Lucky collection for the back to school season.
I wasn't planning on getting any colors from the collection because they seemed a bit too unoriginal, but when I saw this one in person I knew it was special.
However I hate the price! This was 5.99 even with the PRO discount at Sally's! All their prices have gone up! I used to get Orly for 3.99 with the pro card. Yuck.
But this polish ended up being so awesome that I don't care about the price.

1 coat. ONE! Such a great formula. Thick, but not hard to work with. Easy to apply. I did not need to clean up at all because it stays right where you want it!
Quite difficult to photograph but the above photo is dead-on on my screen. I'm holding my nails up to it to verify!
This has gone right up into my favorite polishes ever. Buy this polish.

Inaccurate colors but this shows you that it is unlike any other purple I own. And if you know me, you know I own a lot of purple.
I originally thought it was going to be a lot like China Glaze Spontaneous after seeing promo pics, but Spontaneous is #3 on the wheel - totally different. (Keep in mind, neither of the colors are accurate in the photo, but it does show that they are very different shades.)

So then I started thinking of what I could do to jazz up this manicure. And I decided to grab some glitter.

I added OPI - Teenage Dream and I fell even more in love with these nails.
Teenage Dream did not alter the color of Frolic as it appears in the pictures.

I used my iPhone to try and get the right color and it is also pretty close - the nails with Teenage Dream are most representative of the true color.

So, this was quickly becoming so awesome that I had to add my favorite stamp image to make it even better.

Perfect.

Bow from Konad m59, stamped with Wet N Wild Black Creme. 3mm purple rhinestone added for extra bling. :)
I wish I could have a smaller version of this image so that it could fit on my other nails! The smaller bow image Konad has is just not as pleasing as this one.

iPhone pics just make it look so vibrant and awesome!

Official favorite nails of 2011 thus far!
What do you guys think?
:)

big bows

Posted by Unknown on Tuesday, February 8, 2011

Again, quick post today.
I have so much school work in the next two weeks I don't even think I'll have time to change my polish.

I wore these nails a few weeks ago and while I loved the design, the green wasn't really "me."

This is Sally Hansen Insta Dry in Lickety-Split Lime.
It applied really nicely but like I said, just not exactly my kind of color.
I stamped the large bow from Konad m59 and the dotty line thing from Bundle Monster BM11 with my usual, Wet N Wild Black Creme, and added some rhinestones from ebay!

I hope to find some time to post nails while I am super busy studying, but I apologize in advance if I don't get one done every day!
