When you can't decide what to wear... You keep layering.

And it doesn't always turn out fantastic. Here's an example of that.

...Not as I had hoped.
I thought the purple base and green glitter of peacock would create something magical over the blue and white base but really it just got kinda lost.

It's nice but not the best combo I've ever done.

I should have stopped with the white crackle because I loved this look! It kinda reminded me of icebergs floating in the ocean. And have I told you how much I love Color Club crackle polishes...?!

Did you guys notice that my watermark now proudly says rebeccalikesnails.com? I've finally made the jump to my own domain!
The whole blog should be transferred over within 3 days so if you have any issues with my blog right now, it's most likely due to this change. Please be patient. :)

Nail Art Looks Featuring Polish from the Sephora + Pantone Tangerine Tango Polish Set

Hi readers!

Today I just wanted to show you a couple nail art looks I had done using some of the polish from the Sephora + Pantone Tangerine Tango polish set. If you missed my post with swatches of the whole set, you can see that here. 

This first look used the matte and glitter versions of Tangerine Tango to make a fun gradient. I loved the overall effect this had.

Sadly all I got was a cell phone pic of this one because I was on the road, but this is the creme Tangerine Tango with Orly Luxe stamped on top.

For someone that doesn't like to wear anything too similar twice, I keep turning to these shades because they are so bright and fun, but not too crazy. Gotta love Tangerine Tango! haha

Mermaid Nail Art

I was inspired by Rebecca once again. It was this look here. I didnt' have the same colors, but I just wanted to go for a teal glittery look stamped with the grid image.

I started with Orly Halley's Comet. This is 2 coats.

Then I applied one coat of Sinful Colors Nail Junkie for some added circular glitter. It kind of reminded me of sunken treasure at this point.

Then I stamped using Bundle Monster BM 209 and China Glaze Adore

Matte Blues

Hey there!

Today's post is a quick one. This is sort of a mixed up ombre look. I put Hard Candy Matte-ly in Love on the shades that weren't matte already. L-R: Dr's Remedy Bold Baby Blue, Zoya Phoebe, Color Club Foil Me Once, Orly Frisky, Zoya Breezi.

This mani didn't last long because I'm not used to wearing a matte finish and it was bothering me. haha

Black & White 10 Day Challenge Day 5: Black on Color

I am finally getting around to posting! I hate when I am so busy there isn't time to blog. But I didn't want to miss a challenge post...so here it is! This is Day 5 and we are now halfway through. The task for today was black on color. I let my husband come up with this mani since he was actually home and was in the mood to be creative.

So here is the first layer of the mani. Index to pinky: Orly Fresh, Frisky, Frolic, and Zoya Lolly. 

Using an assortment of black glitters, Dustin quickly put together a cute topcoat for me. Very fun!

Ovarian Cancer Awareness Nail Art Tutorial

Today I have something very special to show you! I recently got in touch with Kelly from the National Ovarian Cancer Coalition and it was decided that breast cancer gets enough attention and it's time to show some teal tips! So here is a simple nail art design that you can recreate at home with the help of stuff you might already have lying around the house. We wanted to highlight the colors of the NOCC's logo, teal with touches of lime green.

(And I'm sorry that this looks so blue, and not teal.... that's my camera's problem. I promise in real life this polish is entirely teal!)

Step 1: Paint all of your nails with a base coat. I use Orly Nail Defense which you can buy at Sally Beauty Supply and CVS. This step is very important! It helps your polish last longer, with less chips. It also helps to prevent any yellow/green staining to your natural nail from these highly pigmented polishes.

Step 2: Paint 2 coats of a lime green nail polish. I used SPAritual Eye of the Beholder. Any lime green polish will do.

Step 3: You want to allow it a minute or two to dry. But you want it ENTIRELY dry before the next step. So to help speed things up, use a Quick Dry Top Coat. I applied 1 coat of Orly's Sec 'n Dry. (Seche Vite is also a good option).Within 5-10 minutes your manicure will be completely dry without risk of smudging or denting.

Then you grab these hole reinforcement stickers from your stash of office supplies. Hopefully you already have some lying around.

I pull out one sheet and cut the circles in half. I find this makes them lie down a little easier during the next step.

Pull half of a sticker off the sheet with tweezers. Best to use tweezers because you have more control over placement and it won't mess up any of your already painted nails.

Step 4: Line the sticker up with where your natural half moon falls. (I find it easiest to make the center hole in the sticker line up with my cuticle. Then they are always placed with the same width.)

Step 5: Press the sticker down so that there are no gaps and it lies smoothly with the curve of your nail.

Go ahead and sticker up all of your nails. You will then look silly like this:

Step 6: Paint 1-2 coats of your teal colored polish over the sticker and the exposed portion of your nail. Here I used Sinful Colors Savage.

Step 7:You can wait for the teal polish to dry, or you can do this while it's still wet. Using your tweezers again (so you don't mess up any of your nails) pull the stickers off gently. If your lime green polish is coming off with the sticker, you didn't let that step dry long enough. Pull the sticker off by pulling up and towards your cuticle, this will help you to have the sharpest line.

Next you will need a dotting tool of some sort. This is one I bought from eBay a while back, but you can use something simple that's already lying around the house. Cut a toothpick in half, use the rounded ends of a bobby pin, the pointed end of a pencil, anything...

This one is nice just because it already has 2 different sizes. One side is small:

The other side is slightly larger.

Step 8: Put a blob of nail polish in a darker teal (here I used Barielle A Bouquet for Ava) on a scrap piece of paper. Pick some up with the large side of your dotting tool (or the larger size of whatever you found around the house) to evenly space dots along the teal side of your manicure.

Step 9: Repeat the same process with your lime green polish again, but this time use the smaller end of your dotting tool and place the dots between your existing dots.

Step 10: You can stop here and add another layer of the Quick Dry Topcoat to finish things off. The topcoat helps to protect your art and make your manicure last longer.

Step 11: But of course it would be best to add a simple doodle of the cancer awareness ribbon to one of your nails as an accent. I just used the small side of my dotting tool to drag the dark teal polish into the ribbon shape.

Of course I'm very happy to have been able to share this simple design with you and I hope you have fun recreating it at home! And let us never forget the many women and families that have been affected by ovarian cancer in some way. Something as simple as painting your nails can help bring awareness to the need for more funding and research for a cure to ovarian cancer.

Black White 10 Day Challenge Day 1: Black on White

Hi!

Today marks the first time I have done a blogging challenge! Even though it's only 10 days and they are spread out 3 days apart, I hope I can stay committed! :) I was invited to join this challenge by one of my first blogger friends,  the lovely Dolores from Colorful Bottles Blog. 

                              

So the first day is black on white. I chose Orly Au Champagne as the base. This polish has such a unique finish. I definitely prefer this finish to a creme for white. Then I topped it off with LA Girl Glitter Addict in Uninhibited. Such a simple combo, but I LOVE the effect! Looks like cookies 'n cream right?

Speaking of cookies 'n cream, I made *these* cookies last night that I found on Pinterest. They were sooo yummy!!

chic glitter triangles

Good morning all! Today I have a really simple and chic mani to show you, using two of my favorite polishes.

I saw this mani on a french blog called Pshiiit and I knew I had to try it because I fell in love with the little glitter triangles.
I don't have the polishes from the original post so I had to improvise and I really like the contrast in the colors I chose.

The base color is Color Club - Nomadic In Nude, and I painted on the triangles in Orly - Bubbly Bombshell with the help of some tape.

Bubbly Bombshell is one of my favorite glitters in my stash. The color is so happy and bright!

I really liked wearing this mani because it was easy but looked really great. I wish my triangles had been a little neater but that's hard when you're working with glitter!

This post reminds me of my "As Seen On" series that I did last summer while I was on vacation.
I'm going away again twice this year - in April and in May - should I do another As Seen On series? If you guys enjoyed those posts, I'll start brainstorming which ones to do this time around! (And if you've done a mani you think I should recreate, send it to me!)
