Milani Blue Flash & Some Nail Art
Posted by Unknown
This is two coats of the super sexy Milani Blue flash. Easy to apply as long as you wait a few minutes between coats. It dries a bit gritty & with a matte finish so it needed a couple of coats of topcoat but it's well worth it in my opinion. Gorgeous deep teal & sparse black micro glitter!
One of my new favorite books, Among Others by Jo Walton, also happens to have a pretty cover. |
Thanks for reading!

when you can't decide what to wear...
Posted by Unknown
When you can't decide what to wear... You keep layering.
And it doesn't always turn out fantastic. Here's an example of that.
Orly - Halley's Comet
One of my faves! Good start.
Color Club - Clean Break
Yes! White Crackle that works! All hail Color Club Crackle!!!
piCture pOlish - Peacock
...Not as I had hoped.
I thought the purple base and green glitter of peacock would create something magical over the blue and white base but really it just got kinda lost.
It's nice but not the best combo I've ever done.
I should have stopped with the white crackle because I loved this look! It kinda reminded me of icebergs floating in the ocean. And have I told you how much I love Color Club crackle polishes...?!
Did you guys notice that my watermark now proudly says rebeccalikesnails.com? I've finally made the jump to my own domain!
The whole blog should be transferred over within 3 days so if you have any issues with my blog right now, it's most likely due to this change. Please be patient. :)
I feel very official, owning my own .com site. Now all I need are business cards and I'll be a regular pro.
P.S. Have you entered my Zoya giveaway? Just 2 days left!

31 Day Challenge - Day 26 - Pattern
Posted by Unknown
This one is a bit of stretch.... But I knew at some point I would HAVE to do CatDog. So my coorelation is that there is pattern to the entire cartoon. Everything is half and half, like their house is half fish and half bone, the wallpaper will be part cat and part dog themed. And basically all of the plots revolve around the same pattern. Dog is silly and dumb, while cat is the mastermind. So just go with me here....
My cousin was in town visiting and she's been my gracious hand model for previous cartoon manicures. She volunteered again. Am I just delusional? Or do our hands/nails look similar? Even our nail beds are the same shape. I guess it just proves that we are in fact related!
Here I did the sign that is behind them in the intro shots. All done with acrylic paints.
The base polish is Essie Navigate Her.
Then on the other hand I painted their body stretching across her nails. It made for a really cool french tip on the middle nail. :)

Lynnderella - LavenDear
Posted by Unknown
I have another gorgeous Lynnderella polish from the Lovely is as Lovely Does collection today. I didn't get this when I got my first batch of Lynderella polishes because I didn't think I needed it. Seriously, I must have been on some trippy drugs or something, because look at this! How did I think I didn't need it?
LavenDear has lavender hex and square glitter in a number of different sizes. It also has the lightest smattering of fine holographic glitter, which you can't see at all in these photos, but it's just enough to throw a few multi-coloured sparkles at you when you least expect it. Gorgeous!
I really love wearing my Lynnderella with matching undies and a good solid layering of glitter. This is two thickly dabbled coats of LavenDear over BYS Thank God It's Friday.
Did you know that Lynnderella was releasing her new collection within the next week? I am so excited to she what she has created this time.
If you would like to join the orderly queue to get Lynnderella's, they will be available through the Llarowe wish list system, which will be opened up again for new wishlists soon. You just need to join up to receive email alerts from the bottom left of the home page at http://shop.llarowe.com/
Happy Father's Day
Posted by Unknown on Sunday, June 17, 2012
Today's post is not nail polish related, so I hope you guys don't mind. Today is Father's day, and first I would like wish all the father's out there a wonderful Father's day, and may this day be filled with joy and love for all of you.
I want to dedicate this post to my loving father, who's no longer with us here. My father was my hero and my best friend. He's been through it all, and if it wasn't for him, my mother, my brother, and I won't be where we are today. He made our lives much easier. When we first moved to America, we had nothing. We lived in a one bedroom basement, small enough to only fit two people, but we managed. My father worked two jobs, day and night, to support us. We made it through every day as a loving family, happy as ever that we are together.
Eleven years later, he finally became successful and owned his own business, which helped us moved into a bigger home. And not to mention he finally bought me a dog I've always wanted. My father was never selfish, he always put others first before him. He never really spent money on himself, besides a few cars. He always spent money on us, always making sure we are happy. But you know, money doesn't always solve everything.
It's been almost three years since he left us, and every day is always empty without his presence, his smile, and his energy. I miss him dearly, and really wish I can see him again. There's nothing else I want more. Happy Father's Day Daddy. Loving and missing you always.

Pretty and Polished
Posted by Unknown
June 17, 2012
Today, I have some swatches from one of my favorite indie brands, Pretty and Polished! Chelsea makes the best polishes! I am so happy I was able to get my hands on so many of them. She recently showed of pictures of a polish coming soon to her shop! The perfect pink and black glitter polish! So edgy but yet so girly. Click here to see it!
You can visit Pretty and Polished at her Etsy shop as well as on her Facebook page.
First up is Pretty and Polished Toy With Me. It is a matte polish with a color changing base. It goes from green to purple and has tiny bits of green micro glitter. I choose to wear it alone with three coats, but you can layer this polish over a base color! If you are not big on matte polishes, you can always add a coat of top coat!
I added one coat of Pretty and Polished Sand Art over three coats of Pretty and Polished Toy with Me. I choose to layer it over Toy With Me because I wanted a lighter base so the matte glitters would really pop! This polish has a clear base and is loaded with green, blue, pink, and purple matte glitter. Jacki from Adventures in Acetone layered it over black, which I thought was brilliant! Claudia from Holographic Hussy layered it over pink and white, which were awesome combos too! Pretty and Polished Sand Art is a one of a kind layering polish!
Next up is Pretty and Polished Pool Party! The blue jelly base and scattered glitters make it the perfect summer polish! Photos show three coats with one coat of top coat.
One of my favorites from today's swatches is Pretty and Polished Tart! This is three coats with one coat of top coat! I bought this polish over four months ago, and it still applies like a dream! This polish has a sheer light pink base with a purple shimmer. It has a variety of yellow, blue, purple, and pink glitter.
The final polish is Pretty and Polished Phoenix! This is one coat over two coats of Ulta Sun-Sational. I hated this Ulta polish. Application was crappy with it, but what should I expect? Most yellow polishes do have crappy application in my experience. Pretty and Polished is a layering polish with a lightly tinted orange base with red, orange, and yellow glitter.

SPITALFIELDS MARKET!
Posted by Unknown
Here is what our stall looked like at Spitalfields Market on Tuesday! Wednesday we had a slightly different (better!) set up - we had a long nail bar going along all one side of the stall - but unfortunately we were a bit run off our feet and didn't get a chance to take a picture!

Shimmer Polish - Linna & Cassandra
Posted by Unknown
Here are 2 more Shimmer Polishes from Cindy. Check out her Etsy shop, her website, or her facebook for more information on purchasing. Or you can always email her directly with your paypal address and the colors you would like to purchase:
shimmer484(at)gmail(dot)com
Here is Linna
This is my favorite of the whole bunch! I am a sucker for anything in the teal family and this is just wonderful. :) The primary color is teal, but there are hints of red, blue, and silver. For these pics I used just 2 coats. The glitter coverage is really good and doesn't require specific placement. The glitter goes where it should.
I think it would be cool to stamp a fish scale stamp over this.... mermaid nails all the way!
Then there is Cassandra
Does it remind you of China Glaze Snow Globe? It did for me... but in a comparison, the glitter particles in Cassandra are noticeably larger. Here is 2 thin coats of Cassandra layered over a variety of colors. Pinky Sally Hansen Xtreme Wear Bubblegum Pink, Ring Sally Hansen Insta Dri Lightening, Middle Revlon Royal, Index China Glaze For Audrey. It's best to use it as a layering polish because it just has a clear base.
So magical and pretty!
Here is 3 coats of Cassandra on it's own so you can see how it builds up.
I had the worst sinkage with Cassandra. Just minutes after I finished shaking the bottle, the glitter had already separated and sunk to the bottom. But again, Cindy is working on these issues and has tweaked her formula since these were made.
