Summer is just around the corner so I thought I'd revisit one of my old favourites, OPI's Who The Shrek Are You. New Zealand never got this collection in, so your best bet is to buy online. It should retail for around $14-$16NZD.
The formula in this polish is really weird. Do you remember OPI's first set of Mattes? Like if you didn't paint it on evenly it'd crack up (kind of like crackles) and shrink in places? Shrekkie tends to do that on the first coat. I even had a perfect circle appear in this manicure! Coat two and three tend to not do that though and fix it all up.
I haven't work Shrek in awhile, when I first bought it I think I wore it for two weeks straight! I think I need to get more accessories or clothes (shoes maybe?!) in this shade.

Today I have to show you OPI's Sit Under The Apple Tree from the Retro Fun In The Sun collection 2008.
This is one of my first OPI's that I ever had. I absolutely love how it looks in the bottle. The nails, not so much. It loses a lot of it's green base and looks very gold and yellow. I am going to try this over a couple of polishes to try and make it more bold looking.
The golden shimmer/frost is really pretty in the sunlight.
It even glows when it's not in the sunlight.
I'm wearing three coats in these photos. It's one of OPI's older formulas that was quite thick but applied thin and sheer... Very strange and a little bit hard to control. I have a feeling the rest of the collection was like this, from what I remember.

Good morning! Today I have to show you China Glaze's Dress to Kill. I don't know all that much about it other than it was released in the collection called Crème Couture around 2004. I picked this one up at the Beauty Expo earlier this year for a few dollars I think.
I'm really happy with it! I love the name. It's one of those empowering names I reckon. Like when you get all dressed up really nice and you know you look good and confidence just radiates from you.
Dress to Kill is a bright blue toned red. Really good coverage, only two coats needed. The formula seems to have a thinner consistency compared to China Glazes these days, but it just flows on effortlessly. Two coats here.
I have tried to use it as a jelly, but it's one of those polishes that's half way between a jelly and a creme. It didn't really work out well in a jelly manicure. Perfect for a base or on it's own though.

Today I have OPI's Ginger Bells to show you! It is from the 2009 Winter Wishes holiday collection. The same one as Merry Midnight, Sapphire in the Snow and Holiday Glow.

This colour is so bang on trend at the moment. As soon as I walk into a clothing store, you've got the muted blues/navys, reds, yellows, red-y browns, khakis and chartrueses. I absolutely love all of those colours, I think I may actually have a polish in all of those too...
I am wearing two coats here. The coverage is nice from Ginger Bells. The formula is a little bit runny, but it's quite easy to control.
I never thought I would like this colour, but I've always had an interest in it. I finally bit the bullet and ordered it. It is discontinued, shouldn't be too hard to find though!

Curry Up! Don't Be Late is from OPI's Summer collection, India, from 2008. The India collection is my absolute favourite that OPI has done. This was right when I was getting into nail polish. You could say Curry Up was one of my first loves!
 |
| OPI Curry Up! Don't Be Late in two coats. |
I think this is my original bottle that I bought in 2008, although my sister is now the proud owner of it (she has been for sometime now). It looks amazing on toes in the summer time! Well, any time really.
 |
| OPI Curry Up! Don't Be Late in two coats. |
My sister kindly let me swatch this, usually she only lets mum and I swatch on one finger lol, so I am very privileged!
The formula of Curry Up could be better, it's a little bit runny and does need a bit of care applying. It is also a little bit streaky but that seems to dissipate once a top coat is applied.

I still love Curry Up to bits, I really should get a bottle of my own. It is a stunning gold polish. I hope OPI brings something out quite similar but with a better formula. I shall remain hopeful.

| Bonus Cat Photo! |
This is my cat, Bells (Bella). For some reason, she was following me around all day, I fed her breakfast and everything but she kept following me around sitting next to me. I wasn't too sure what she wanted from me... Usually she's very 'vocal' and lets you know what she wants. She still has her flash collar though, it's silver with diamantes all around it :)

I've been wanting to get better photos of Catch Me In Your Net for a long time now. But she's just one of those shades when you look at what to swatch next and cringe. Well, I finally decided to wear it, I think this is like, the 2nd ever time I have. What does that say? Love the colour but don't want to put the work in to it that it needs.
You will have a hard time removing.
But Catch looks great in all different lighting situations!

Another DS polish that I lusted after for a looong time but could not bring myself to buy it. OPIs DS Shimmer.
It looked so smooth in all the pictures I saw of it and it applies just as smoothly as it looks. I will be keeping this one for sure!
Just two coats here. I swatched all my DS's with two coats. I love Shimmer because you can have it sheer, layer it or build it up to be opaque. Such a versatile polish!
Get your hands on this if you are lemming it as it has been discontinued... Why does OPI continue to discontinue some of their best?!

Another old favourite, Glamour!
I swatched 80% of my Designer Series polishes the other day (my cuticles are paying for it now) but it wasn't a very sunny day... At least you know what they will look like with no sun :D
This is two coats, no clean up. I love the way these apply. So smoothly, although I found the newer ones to be a bit runny and uncontrollable.
My cuticles are feeling really irritated lately... maybe it's because of how much swatching I've been doing. I have been pumping oil and cuticle eraser into them everyday... I hope it passes :(
Oh by the way NZer's, a salon I went to was selling CND Cuticle Eraser for $49!!! Get it online for sure. That's too ridiculous for words!

I stumbled across Shangri today when I was having a huge overdue clean up of my stash today.
It applies like most old OPIs do, smoothly and opaque in two or one coats. This is two coats here with no top coat as I was planning to Konad it... Can't wait to show you it tomorrow! hehe n_n
Shangri-la-la Lilac would look like a creme to most people, I'm sure only the eagle eyed polish addicts would be able to tell it had a little shimmer. I think the shimmer just lifts it a tiny bit from looking flat. Now that I think about it, Shangri looks similar to Mar De Morado...
Although Shangri-la-la Lilac is discontinued it is not VHTF. Which is excellent for us pink lovers :D
Lately I'm finding that I have colours that I absolutely cannot live without and could wear any day and not get sick of it. So I will make a big post of these probably next week or so.
It is extremely hard being on a no-buy until March. I have only broken it... four times... n_n; But! They were either an extremely good find or extremely cheap.... :D
Don't forget to enlarge theeeese ♥

I know this post is soon after the Chanel one... But I had to show you as soon as I put it on!This is one of the Japanese exclusive OPI's I found, Pick Me Up Purple. As you can see, hardly any purple at all... But shimmery/frosty blue goodness! This is four coats to get it completely opaque. Three looked nice but tips were visible. I absolutely adore this colour and I thought it looked similar to Orly's Blue Belle. So BB is on my thumb, no comparison really :DApplication was soooo smooth, hardly any clean up was needed. A truly beautiful polish. Look at it some mooooore:

Here's a special polish I have been waiting to show you, Starbright Sparkles II, a Yokohama :DThis is three coats... I'm pretty sure it is. It looks quite similar to Chanel's Pink Satin in the bottle, but they both turn out completely different from each other once on the nail.Starbright Sparkles II is a beautiful sheer, very sheer white pink with peach iridescent and multicoloured glitter scattered through out. I really love this one, even just looking at in the bottle is mesmerising :)Merry Christmas! I hope you are having an excellent day and I also hope Santa was good to you :D Have a happy new year also! I am off to play my new favourite game, Little Big Planet, I will have to do a manicure for Sackboy :)

I am very bored at the moment so I have to make another post :D This is China Glaze's Sexagon from the Kaleidoscope collection, all holographics! This is three coats of Sexagon as the holo pieces are very scattered and easily moved around when you are applying the coats. But three thickens it right up to be completely opaque :)I used a Konad design with Konad's Black. I awful at remembering what plates I used... I will edit this later when I find out. I absolutely adore this design as I have always had a thing for corsets, the lacing of the ribbon just makes me melt lol so why not have it on your nails?!
Also, this is being discontinued along with all the other kaleidoscopes soon!
I will be comparing it to OPI's new Coronation when I order it, China Glaze's OMG and OPI's Shimmer. So much holo goodness !

I'm pretty sure i've shown you this beauty before, but shes still as beautiful as ever :) OPI's My Private Jet.
If I did have a private jet, I think it'd be pretty awesome to have one this colour...
I think OPI didn't really well on this shade! But alas, they had to go and change it three times didn't they?
I will have to pick up that less holo one with the teal flash sometime.
I think I used three coats here. It is a little on the sheer side, but easily fixed over your favourite vampy shade. My Private Jet does have a somewhat warm cast to it, like it is a very dark grey brown. It's interesting and I like it.
I like how it sparkles even in the shade :)
