Bugün Ne Sürdüm? - Avon Loving Lavander

Posted by Unknown on Sunday, February 26, 2012

Scroll down for English...

I had Avon's new season color Loving Lavander on my nails today. As you can see, the color was not pampering my skintone. It is a light color, opaque in two coats but not my taste... Looked better in the bottle though.. :( Well, it's not my favorite manicure but we should share the bad ones, too...Don't you think? I used Maybelline Mini Colorama in Wonder Violet for stamping, which I absolutely loved...

OPI Pink Shatter, Two Looks

Posted by Unknown on Thursday, February 16, 2012

I still love crackle polishes & I probably always will. I rarely keep my nails the same for more than 3 days in a row, but occasionally I just don't have time to completely start fresh. If my nails are looking chipped or have tip wear & I'm in a rush, I always reach for a crackle. They dry quickly, are virtually foolproof, & easily cover any wear that I want to hide.

That being said, OPI Pink Shatter didn't win me over on my first try when paired with The Painted Nail by Nubar OMG Gorgeous. It dried matte & just seemed kind of weak & washed out. The formula was fine but very sheer for a crackle.
I wanted to give it another try before I gave up on it & I'm so glad I did. I layered it over Maybelline New Year's Blues with almost no expectations. The results were quite amazing. I think this combination would be a good start for some galaxy nails which I still haven't successfully done yet.

Maybelline New Year's Blues

This is 3 coats of Maybelline New Year's Blues, an oldie I picked up at the Dollar Tree awhile back. I think it's beautiful & pretty unique. I love the sparse turquoise glitter!

Layering With Zoya Maisie

Posted by Unknown on Thursday, January 26, 2012

Zoya Maisie is a sheer turquoise blue topcoat loaded with blue & green flakies from their new Fleck Effects collection. These all look gorgeous in the bottle so I decided to try to get the same look on my nails. I think I accomplished my goal!
Maisie by itself is very sheer with just a hint of blue in the base. This is 2 coats of Maybelline Blue Water topped with 2 coats of Maisie & then 1 more coat of Blue Water. Normally I would never use 5 coats of polish, but the Water polishes go on super thin and dry very fast so it's really no problem. I love how they turned out!

Thanks for reading!

This polish was sent to me for review. All opinions are my own & were not influenced by Zoya! For more information you can read my disclosure policy.

Maybelline Cool Couture

Posted by Unknown on Monday, October 10, 2011

It's just another manic Monday, I wish it were a Sunday cause that's my funday!

Ugh Monday's are always long and drags on -_- but anyways, today I have Maybelline's Cool Couture to share with you ladies. I've been hunting for Cool Couture for a whole month before I finally found it at my local Rite Aid.

Maybelline's Cool Couture is a dark gray base with teal and green shimmers. I did two coats of it.

It was opaque in one coat, but I did two to smooth it out. The formula wasn't bad, it applied very nice and the dry time was good as well. I really loved this color and I'm glad I found it. I got many compliments at work for it. I don't see it around the Rite Aid I got anymore, it is the only color that's sold out. Well they usually have only two bottles out anyway. But yes if you didn't grab Cool Couture yet, go find it! I think it's a gorgeous and unique color.

That's all I have for today. What do you guys think of Cool Couture?

Maybelline Blue Water & My Favorite French Manicure

Posted by Unknown on Wednesday, March 30, 2011

I know many of you hate this polish & understandably so, but I couldn't resist buying it when I found it at the Dollar Tree. I gave it to Ashley, since my nails are a slightly stained. Blue Water is pictured on her nails with 2 coats. It's so sheer! You're thinking "Aaghhh! Why would anyone want such a polish?"

But wait! I know Blue Water is pretty scary by itself, but Ashley transformed it into one of my new favorite manicures! She added french tips in Icing My Blue Heaven and now I think it's gorgeous!

Such a lovely effect! So if you picked up the Water polishes, don't despair! Great job Ashley!

Three Maybelline Spring Swatches

Posted by Unknown on Saturday, March 26, 2011

Today I have the new Spring Maybelline polishes to share. I found these while browsing around Walgreens and thought they would look gorgeous. I was a little disappointed after swatching them because they're not that amazing in my opinion.. Have a look:

Sunlight is a golden yellow pearl shimmer. This was 3 coats. I think it was the only one I liked of the rest.

Lilac Luster is a lilac pearl shimmer. 3 coats. Nice and elegant but doesn't float my boat.

Blue Brilliance is a blue pearl shimmer with flashes of pink. 3 coats. This looked gorgeous on the display and in the bottle but on the nails it just didn't "pop" like I thought it would.

Overall this collection was eh to me. I only chose these three basically because these three caught my eyes, I don't really know what else is in the collection, don't quite remember it. It was a little struggle to apply them as well, I don't know if it's because of the brush or just the formula. Sunlight was a bit streaky, as you can still see some visible brush strokes.

Well that's all I have for today! Enjoy your weekend!

An Unlikely Pair...

Posted by Unknown on Thursday, March 10, 2011

A lovely reader,  pamalama_dingdong , hee hee, love that name,  asked me to swatch my recently acquired long time lemming of mine, Maybelline Banana Puddin'. I couldn't believe I found it on eBay, shocker, for such a great price. I just LOVE this yellow. It is a tad tricky to work with, so you need a light hand and 3 quick coats for full coverage, but it's totally worth it, just look!

Then, well, just because it was in my purse, I felt the need to add blue for a Checkered Mani :) I used OPI DS Magic. I wish you could see the purple sparkle in Magic better :( Yeah, not the most common pair, but still fun, and I love trying different combos :) I have a tutorial on how to do this up in my 'Tutorial' tab, if you're interested.

Some Maybelline, China Glaze, Dior, and ORLY Swatches

Posted by Unknown on Sunday, November 7, 2010

So while browsing through my "Nail Polish" folder, I realized I have a few polishes that I've swatched but never posted or did a review on them. And instead of doing each brand one by one, I've decided to just include it all in one post. I have two New Maybelline for the Fall, one old China Glaze, Dior, and two old ORLY's.

Maybelline

Grand in Green is a blackened green which is quite similar to OPI's Here Today, Aragon Tomorrow. Grand in Green is darker than HTAT (in which HTAT shows more green)

Grey-T Glamour is a gray creme with little silver flecks. I really like this one :)

Applications for both of these were good. No complaints

China Glaze

Sunset Glow is a rosey pink mauve with hints of golden shimmer. Gorgeous color but some reason dry time was a little slow

Dior

Black Sequins is a black creme with silver glitter. I got this when it was restocked at Nordstrom, I believe it is not available anymore, but don't quote me :x

Orly

Bailamos is a bright aqua shimmer

Wild Wisteria is a deep purple creme

I've always loved Orly's formulas. Perfect and flawless

Well that's all I have for today, and as a bonus, since this post is so short, November 2nd was my dog Bebe's 10th birthday. And here is a picture of her "making a wish" on her birthday cake :D

Maybelline Colorama #43, Playing with Flakies..

Posted by Unknown on Wednesday, September 22, 2010

I love my flakies, A LOT! Well I whipped this out of hiding, forgot I had it, and decided to give it a go. I love all polish over black, if you don't know by now, so that's what I did, put it on black, and LOOK!!

And being me, I had to add black tips :P

I get bored very easily, so I made the tips matte.

Doesn't get much better, than a flakie, funky french with matte tips!!!

Maybelline Nail Polishes

Posted by Unknown on Saturday, June 19, 2010

Hi everyone! Today I have for you a few Maybelline nail polishes that were released a few months back. I don't think I ever tried Maybelline nail polishes before. But I think I tried one back in JHS. I just can't really remember =P

Vanishing Venus - brown with purple/green shimmer duochrome. 3 coats. Can you say GORGEOUS?! I'm in love. I received this from a special person who wants to remain anonymous. I'm so glad I got this because I've been lemming it and finally got it. I love it so much! Thank you anonymous person ;)

Sweety Pie - peachy pink creme. 3 coats

Minty - mint green/turquoise creme. 3 coats

La La Lime - soft green shimmer. 3 coats. This picture makes it look really bright when it really isn't. It's much softer in person. And tiny tiny microglitters are visible.

Goody Plum Drop - lavendar/pastel purple creme. 3 coats.

Formulas were pretty good and matched my satisfaction. Colors are gorgeous. Application was smooth not streaky. I think I would be buying more Maybelline polishes in the future!
