NEW Limited Edition Sally Hansen Complete Salon Manicure Polishes

Posted by Unknown on Thursday, September 30, 2010

So I went to Rite Aid on my lunch, and what do I see.....the NEW Sally polishes!! I love my Rite Aid, they are always up to date on the new collectionc. I only grabbed 3, for the rest looked very common, imo.

This is Problem Child. Which reminds me very much of OPI's Merry Midnight. I think of Problem Child, as Merry M. little sister. PC, doesn't seem to have as big of, or as much flakies compared to her big sis. Still this color is beautiful!

This is Golden Ticket. Since it's sheer, I layered it over Problem Child, and really like it!

This is my FAVORITE of the 3 that I got, It's Sequin Scandal. A very dark olive/army green, with gold & green tiny glitter and what may be teeny tiny iridescent flakies, but not many, so don't get too excited.

Zoya Color Spoons provide a new way to shop for nail color - online and in the salon!

Posted by Unknown

When our customers told us the couldn't find the perfect nail polish color online, Zoya came to there rescue with Zoya Color Spoons! Nail Pro Magazine took notice of this revolution in online buying!! Zoya Color Spoons are finally getting their due! Zoya Nail Polish is so pleased to have the eye of salon and spa professionals in the October edition of Nail Pro Magazine!! Within the pages of this industry leader there were two great mentions of Zoya Color Spoons!

Here is a piece of what they said:

"Have you ever applied nail polish and it turned out not to be the color you thought it was? The Zoya Color Spoon makes that scenario obsolete." -Nail Pro Magazine

There is even a blurb from our VP of Marketing Leo Reyzis talking about Zoya Color spoons. He says
"It's amazing that we will be able to do this for our customers. There really is nothing else like it in the nail polish market today."

Zoya Spoons. Find Your Perfect Red Giveaway! Ends 10/15. (Closed)

Posted by Unknown

Zoya sent me 6 of their new Spoons and the corresponding polishes. Andi, Ruby, Nidhi, Carmen, LC & Jade. This is a lovely promo set they put together to spread the word about the Spoons, all about finding your perfect red.
Most of you have heard about these by now but just in case you missed it somehow, here's their video explaining all about them.

I love this idea and I'm already a huge fan of Zoya polishes. If I could only wear one polish for the rest of time, it would be Zoya Gaia! Zoya Edyta from their fall line is a new top five favorite too!

The Spoons are a fantastic idea! I still need the perfect gold for example. It's not a color family that often goes with my skin tone. These would be a great way to try them out with no loss of my precious and tiny income. The Spoons combined with Zoya's under-appreciated Intensity Scale, make Zoya a true leader in the world of online polish buying! The Intensity Scale rates the polishes from 1-5 in sheerness. 1=sheer & 5=opaque. I've found it to be very accurate. No more surprises when you try that gorgeous in the bottle polish only to find out that it's super sheer!

I'm not a big red polish fan. I'm also not a collector like many of you. I keep my polish collection fairly small and free of dupes. I used these spoons to see if I needed or wanted any of the six colors that Zoya sent and it turns out that I don't. The shade I found most appealing (Nidhi) ended up not working with my skintone. Lucky for you ladies, this means that I'm passing on the lovely set to one of my lovely readers!

One reader from anywhere in the world will receive a spoon and bottle of unused polish in each of these colors.
  • Andi--Bold medium blue-toned red with a touch of barely-perceptible silver shimmer. Intensity 5.
  • Ruby--Bright cool-toned true ruby red with frosty, silvery shimmer. Intensity 4.
  • Nidhi--Rich red sparkling metallic. Intensity 5.
  • Carmen--Bright, clean medium true red in a glossy creme finish. Intensity 4.
  • LC--Bright, creamy saturated coral-red with a shiny creme finish. Intensity 5.
  • Jade--Bright red glitter in a translucent crimson red base. Intensity 3.

Bewitching Halloween nails. This is a mix of stuff from just about everywhere lol.

New gel polish colors from OPI. I'm loving the new glitter colors.

More OPI gel polish.

The glitter is from sparklesnailproducts.com. The little clay leaves are from kennickkreations.com

I just love purple and green for Halloween. This client asked for tiger stripes a long time ago and she finally got them!

This is a glitter from sparkles nail products. So easy and so cute!

This is a glitter in #110 Caribbean Blue from sparklesnailproducts.com. I faded a little turquoise acrylic into it.

Surprise, surprise another glitter from sparkles nail art that I faded into a glitter from artglitter.com

SpaRitual Nail Lacquers

Posted by Unknown

I've heard about SpaRitual nail polishes awhile back, but I've never tried them myself. This is my first time and I'm definitely loving the quality of it. Although it's a little pricey on my side ($12 a bottle) I guess it's worth it, since we have Chanel polishes for $23 and the formula ain't even all that.

So anyways, I bought five colors which is most from their Spring and Summer 2010 lines. It was the only colors that interested me. But I am eying their Fall 2010 line because there are a bunch of gorgeous colors! Since I've spent so much money on the MAC Venomous Villains collection, I need to watch my spending for a bit for the upcoming months.

So here are the swatches:

Delight is a pale minty green creme with slight jelly finish. It's good to see a pale mint green as I've been seeing a lot of bright mint greens. I kind of like how soft this looks.

Full of Life is a pale baby blue creme. Again this is more soft than other baby blues I've tried.

Optical Illusion is a green shimmer full of silver and green glitter flecks. I love how this one looks. It's gorgeous. I just wish I captured a better picture of it.

Shoot For the Stars is a purple creme. Like a true purple. Purples polishes are my second favorites aside from green polishes. I've been looking for a true purple polish. This one appears darker in person than my picture reveals. I'm still looking for the perfect purple creme, and RBL's Mismas is my closest choice but still doesn't seal the deal for me.

Yes I Can! is a forest green creme. LOVE! After tons of mint greens this summer, I'm loving this dark creme. It is beautiful.

The formulas for these were all great. I didn't have any application issues whatsoever. My favorite has to be Yes I Can! Not because it's green...OK who am I lying, yes it's because it's green, but also because it's beautiful!

And that is all I have for today! Don't forget to enter my ManGlaze 600th followers giveaway, you have a bout 21 days left to enter! You can get to the entry from my sidebar!

Scotch Tape Striped Mani - Is my love for Turquoise Opal obvious?

Posted by Unknown

I actually did this mani yesterday, but didn't get a chance to post it. I was trying to find other designs I could do, using scotch tape. Stripes came to mind. So I grabbed my trusty black, and Sally Hansens Nail Prisms Turquoise Opal, and started working on it. It was actually easier than I though, and I love this effect

This is with the flash on, see how much the turq. shows!!!

My Vegas Showgirl Mani

Posted by Unknown

This is the mani design I chose today. As much as I like it, it feels very Vegas to me, lol. The gold is Color Club's Enchanted Holiday, from this years mini set. The black is my HG, Sinful's Black on Black. I used scotch tape for the diagonal design. If you're interested in doing this, I posted about it a little while ago, and gave step by step instructions.

Quirius Starry Night & Some Rhinestones

Posted by Unknown on Tuesday, September 28, 2010

I have no idea why this is called Starry Night, as it's a dark purple creme! My camera hates purples & this polish is much less blue than the photos. It dries darker than the bottle color and has the same finish as Quirius Caribbean Turquoise without a topcoat. It's shown here with topcoat.
I've never used any sort of 3d nail art before and I obviously had no plan with this manicure! I just randomly threw these on. Not something I would do again but I learned how to place them properly the next time I want to use them.

Thanks for reading!

Purple Bows

Posted by Unknown

Keeping up with the light-colors theme for my super-short nails...I like how this simple design turned out. And I love how easy it is to make precise designs with these stencils! I bought them from Nail Delights and plan on ordering more soon.
I started with two coats of Avon's "Luxe Lavender" polish over a layer of China Glaze base coat. I like this purple...the perfect pastel, I think.
I put one layer of China Glaze quick-dry top coat over to seal and dry everything quickly, and then started at my thumbnail. Remember when using these stencils to take most of the glue *off* by sticking them to the pads of your fingers a few times...it doesn't take much glue to keep them on the nail.
Then just stick some polish on the stencil - I used Sinful Colors "Daddy's Girl" for the bows...
And pull the stencil off before the polish sets. Voila! Sparkly purple bow.
I finished the rest one at a time - it goes really fast with virtually no work.
And then I finished it off with a little purple rhinestone in the center of each bow, and two coats top coat to seal.
You might notice my nails are cleaned up in this last photo - I've finally discovered a polish remover pen that works extremely well for me. Avon's Nail Corrector Pen is quick and easy with less wear & tear on my cuticles than my old shower method, and I'm ordering two more tonight. Something you may want to try if you're looking for a fast & easy way to clean up after a manicure. And no, I don't sell Avon (used to, but haven't for several years) or get anything from the company for this recommendation, I just really like the product. I'm seriously considering trying their cuticle oil pen too...

If you know me at all, you know I *love* Halloween. I even have a Halloween scrapbook blog. In any case, I'm declaring October "Halloween Month" here at Nail Art Tuesday...check back for the first Halloween manicure for this year next week.

Until then, happy polishing!

AVON Going Green for Summer Collection

Posted by Unknown

Just a few more posts on Summer collections and I promised you I'm done! (Aside from a bunch of Illamasqua and Nfu-Oh polishes) I've been working on my Fall collection swatches lately :)

Anyways, before I head off to work, I just want to do a quick post on Avon's Going Green for Summer collection featuring two colors: Jade and Olive Green. Check out the swatches below!

Jade - a green based mint green. A true mean green! I love how this color just "glows" It's awesome! I had slight problem with application for this one. Some reason it was a little hard to control and a bit streaky. But after a third thick coat it seem fine.

Olive Green - dusty green creme. 2 coats. This one reminds me of RBL's Orbis Non Sufficit. This color was heavily pigmented. It's a close dupe, I believe Orbis Non Sufficit is darker. One coat did the job, but out of habit I did two.

These are available to purchase on www.avon.com. Sometimes they have deals like buy 3 for $7. Right now it's on sale for $3.99. Retail price is $5.00.

This is my first time trying Avon nail polishes. I can't guarantee I'm going to buy more. Although I am deeply in love with their base coat. It's by far the best base coat I've tried. I loved it so much that I bought 6 more bottles (when it was on sale of course). What I loved about their base coat is that it's not.. "sticky". You know how some base coats get a little sticky towards the end? I'm halfway done with one bottle and no problems at all. Still goes on smooth and does the job as a base coat.

Ok well that is all I have for today. Off to work I go :(

Hey, Mister!

Posted by Unknown

honestly, thats such a lame title! -ahaha.

hello, hello! i apologize for my week disappearance! schools been kicking my ass and i cant seem to catch up o__O all the studying i do isnt really paying off. including today, back to last week, i've been packed with school work. i had two exams, three quizzes, an essay, and trying to memorize everything - - but it didnt really work out =( i didnt have time for my nails all week last week nor did i have inspiration. but today is a different story; i treated myself to a little polishing & i, literally, just finished this mani =P

this kinda explains my lame post title; each time i look at my nails, i think "HEY, MISTER!" ...for some odd reason =P i used Sally Hansen White On & Black Out. the half-moons took FOREVER & even with the help of paper reinforcements, i didnt like how they turned out..so i basically free-handed them. i also free-handed the little tuxedo which didnt take as long as i expected.

im freakin exhausted so im going to end it here.

be back soon,
<3KATRINA
