my package of love from Laurie!

Good afternoon ladies!

I'm finding it hard to get back into the habit of posting since I was on vacation and didn't have to pay attention to my blog for a whole week! Haha. I'll find my way back.

However, my nails are so short and sad right now that I don't want to start swatching all my new polishes! I want to let them grow for a week before I really start marathon swatching. I'll have to figure out what to post until then!

Today's post is another nail mail post. A few days before I left I received a package in the mail from my friend Laurie who I'm sure you know by now through her guest posts here and posts about her frankens on some other blogs!

I was Laurie's first polish friend and because she is so sweet, that meant she wanted to send me a package of lovin'.

The lovin' started with Kleancolor - Born To The Purple.

We both thought from seeing swatches online that it was going to be similar to Lippmann's Bad Romance, but the base is actually berry colored and not black!

For my swatch I decided to show it on it's own because the base is pretty pigmented. However, it didn't look as good as I had hoped.

I was going to reswatch it over black, but I remembered that Nic Nack's Nails had done that already and it was a great representation, so I'm just going to link you to that post!

Sometime after Laurie decided to send me that polish, she asked me if I would like a bottle of Pink Rose Diamond. Did she even have to ask? Of course not.

Sally Hansen Nail Prisms - Pink Rose Diamond. Oh so gorgeous.

This is three coats of the magic that is Pink Rose Diamond. The old Sally Hansen holos are so amazing. I wish I had more of them but I only have this one! The holo effect is so pretty, and it is such a nice shade of pink!

I'm so in love with this one!

(Who am I kidding, I'm in love with every holo ever.)

The last picture is my favorite!

You might remember that I recently posted swatches of OPI Ds Signature which is a similar polish. I compared them both:

Pink Rose Diamond, Signature, Pink Rose Diamond, Signature

As you can see, the holo effect is similar, but Signature is a bit deeper and peachier while Pink Rose Diamond is a true pink.

Laurie also sent me a franken!!

This franken is called Boom Boom... NAILED IT!

I actually named it!

How did it get it's name? It was created to be a dupe of Deborah Lippmann's Boom Boom Pow.

Around the time Laurie made this, the OPI Miss Universe collection was coming out and the polish "Swimsuit...Nailed It!" was on my mind.

Laurie did SO good with the franken, I told her she nailed it! And then the name came to me.

Laurie liked it, and the franken was born!

Here's one coat of Boom Boom... NAILED IT over Essie Turquoise and Caicos. So pretty!

I knew I wanted to use the franken in a sponged mani. I went to my drawer of untrieds (polish I have yet to use) to pick a base color.

Here's what I found:

China Glaze - Sky High Tops. Gorgeous shimmery blue from the Kicks Collection. 2 coats!

You'll be pleased to know that even though this is a very pigmented blue, it did not stain my nails after 3 days of wear.

Then I added my Boom Boom accent nail!

Love it!

Laurie also sent me a baggie of holographic glitter and I have yet to decide what to do with it!

Thank you so much Laurie for all the goodies! I'll eventually get you back! I just have to find the right goodies...
