FrankenPolishing exirience - Part 2

Posted by Unknown

It is about time to revel the secret of the kitty nails. In fact the base color for kitty manicure is my first official franken polish.
So after spending hours and hors trying to create somehting at least close to nice, and number of fails, i came up with the better idea. if you cant do soemthing ,see how others do it and do the same. I was admiring this color for a long time, since i seen it on Dr.Frankenpolish Blong , so decided just follow instructions given where. Except i used my own polishes, which are close in color to whose that she used, and i did not add any clear polsih, because i want it to be opaque.
May be one day i ll be able to make somehting myself, but so far, at least it worked, even that the idea is not mine. Thank you Dr. Frankenpolish - to be my guide on frankening.

One bottle used and 3 to go, stay tuned for more Franken Polishing experience

Independent Nails

I'm sure there was probably a quicker way to achieve this look...but doing these late last night, I took the long way, naturally. Still, I think they turned out pretty well, especially considering the number of broken short nails I have at the moment (don't know what's going on there!). They're actually much more glittery than the photos show...I just ran out of time trying to photograph them.

I started with Avon base coat, then two coats of China Glaze "Ruby Pumps". I used a Stripe Rite nail striper to divide each nail diagonally, then added the white stripes to one side of each nail (botched some of the lines by the cuticle, but it doesn't really stand out unless you're looking at a close-up photo...). I decided to do that first, so that the blue would cover any mistakes I made by going "too far" over the center line - which turned out to be a good idea.

Then I used Zoya's "Kotori" for the blue side, with the white dividing line as a guide. Two coats made for a nice opaque sparkly blue. Then I retraced the white dividing line again to cover any mistakes.

I applied a coat of Avon top coat to stick the plastic stars into, then another thick coat of the same to seal everything up. And voila, sparkly flag nails for Independence Day.

Have a safe and happy holiday, everyone!

And it's down to three!

You guys have really confused me! n_n That's ok though, it'll be so worth it in the end!

So it's down to:
Pure Energy - an awesome vibrant blue
In My Back Pocket - a juicy orange creme
India Mood For Love - one of my favourite pinks

I am swaying towards Pure Energy because my lipstick is kinda like India (MAC Girl About Town) and I am probably going to have blue eyeshadow... so then that makes me think to choose the orange! But then I could do orange eyeshadow... But also India would look nice with the pink lips too... >_<

Please vote on which colour you think I should pick!

FrankenPolishing Expirience - Part1

Posted by Unknown

This is going to be a series of post about my experience with frankening polishes.
I was always inspired by people making their own polishes, especially i admire work of Frankepolish blog, and want to thank her for useful tips.
So i always wanted to try it - because it look like really fun to do, colors can be wonderful, and does not look to hard to make. (he-he)
Since i am not sure how it all going to turn in, i decided start to do it with the supplies i have, without ordering additional stuff. ( partially the hole decision to franken is based on the economical situation in my valet)
In this part i will provide you with some tips how to clean old bottles from polish, so you can use it for frankening,m instead of order empty bottles. It is not really hard task but require some pation :) Another good reason to start with old bottles, is because you can use smaller size bottles which will require less supply waste.
I started with picking some smaller size all polishes, and when added acetone to it. Actually to simplify this task i made a cone out of old coke can, just cut it with scissors.

i let the the polish melt for about 20 minutes and then located it upside down to let ti float from the bottle. You ll need to repeat it several times, letting it melt for 10-20 minutes each time acetone is added. I was afraid to drain this stuff in the sink or toilet ( glittery toilet is not my big dream lol ), so i used another coke can. it is also very cool that you can leave the bottle upside down, like this

After all those precedures you ll end up with clean enouth bottles that can be used for frankening and expressing your creativity

However i realized that i totally suck in mixing polishes.. i spent like 4 hours playing arround with samples, and i didn't like a thing... really, this is not as easy as it may look. So stay tunes for Part2 , to see if i can make anything to put in my clean bottles.

Another empty bottle of Zoya Remove +

Posted by Unknown

If you don't believe us when we tell you how wonderful our 3-in-1 nail polish remover, cleaner and prep, Zoya Remove + is check out this review from the Beauty Couch that says it all for us. Allow us to suggest the 32 oz refill of Remove + size to all!

"So while I understand that it might be tough to convince you that the additional expense of Zoya Remove+ is not wasted, I just want to be clear that this is the absolute, hands-down, best nail polish remover ever. Is that too effusive? Let me explain.

Zoya Remove+ is billed as a 3-in-1 product due to its ability to remove nail polish, cleanse the nail and prepare it for polish, which is good for starters. But more than that, and most critical to my love for this product, is the mild acetone formula that is specially formulated to not dry out the nail or surrounding cuticle. And in addition to being formulated not to dry the nail and cuticle, it actually doesn't. For someone with chronically dry hands, cuticles and nails, this is nothing short of a small miracle. Particularly if you are nail polish fickle and change color at least twice a week, Zoya Remove+ is definitely something that needs to make its way into your medicine cabinet.

And, yes, while it is expensive, I like to think of spending money on a quality nail polish remover as a little like spending money on good undergarments. One might think: Why bother because no one else is going to see them? However, similar to good undergarments, good nail care is the foundation of pretty hands and manicures; it doesn't matter how beautiful the polish looks if the nail is dry and the surrounding skin is cracked and flaking. Similarly, no one is going to notice the gorgeous cashmere sweater if there are all kind of disorganized, lumpy things going on underneath it. You get my drift here..."

Last Dream in the Morning

Posted by Unknown on Sunday, June 28, 2009

This manicure reminds me of something light and fragile, that will just fly away from you forever if you ll try to catch it.
The base color is Essie "Carousel Coral" - amazing color, that i love so much, but cant use often, since it goes with nothing from my cloths or accessories, and not in my color type pallet. But i still just love it, and enjoy it on my nails from time time

Maybelline Matte Grape

Posted by Unknown

As much as I enjoyed having the chance to wear a matte polish, it was just too shiny for my liking. Plus the colour was a little 'nana-rish' for my liking. I'm dying for those Zoyas x_x C'mon July!

As far as I know, these Maybelline Matte's were released some time ago and are long discontinued.

I used just two coats here. It applied really well with and without a base coat. Matte Grape applied smoothly with no hitches. It looks absolutely stunning when its wet, so many colours jammed into that shimmer!

I didn't wear it with a top coat because the lid told me not too :( Sowwy... next time the sun peeps I will make sure of it!

Me and mum might be concocting up an order soon! n_n Exciting! Can't even remember when the last one was. The significant other probably won't really approve of it... but I have a role to play being a blogger, right n_<

ZOYA Matte Velvet Collection

My first time ever using and trying on matte nail polishes, and I must say they are amazing. I've never received so many compliments about my nails before. Everyone was telling me how awesome and cool they look and I agree 100%. I know there are many top coats that will turn any polish into mattes. All I have is the Nubar V for Men but they are not the same as the Zoya Matte collection.

Dovima - A charcoal black shimmer. This was my favorite of the whole collection.

Loredana - A grey shimmer. Another amazing matte.

Posh - A red matte shimmer. This one gives more of a satin finish. My nails never look great with red nails but this one is by the best red on me in my opinion.

Zoya totally nailed it this time. Love this collection, the colors, and everything about it. Matte nail polishes are very tricky. They dry super fast, and any mistakes will be shown (as you can see some in my pictures) All three were done with two coats. One coat is already opaque, but you know me :)

I think after this, matte nail polishes are my new obsession. Can't wait for the other matte nail polish collections coming out real soon!!

Becoming A Nail Tech: Graduation!

Posted by Unknown on Saturday, June 27, 2009

Isn't it a great feeling knowing you've finished? I still have a week left of course, I'm still going to go in and just hang out with my classmates, do a little nail art and find a gift for my tutor. But most importantly, what will I wear for Graduation?! Last night I was playing around with colours to match my new dress. I picked out:

Essie Shelter Island

OPI India Mood For Love

OPI In My Back Pocket

OPI Shorts Story

OPI Party In My Cabana
(index)
So I have all 5 on my right hand, and I am wanting to choose only one pink to go with the blue and orange. I'm gravitating towards India Mood For Love as it seems to be the same sort of hue as the orange and blue.

Then I was thinking to use the wallpaper design from plate M71 in black on top of all the nails. I would show you photos but my significant other has the camera cable n_n; Handy eh. I have heaps of nail art to show you and also that Maybelline Matte, so Monday I will get my lovely cable.

I'll show you the dress material tomorrow, but in the mean time, what do you think? Colours? Konad? Any ideas? n_n

This is the wallpaper design:

Summer Nails!

DON'T FORGET TO CLICK ON THE OLDER POSTS LINK AT THE BOTTOM OF THIS PAGE TO VIEW SEVERAL PAGES OF MY NAIL ART*********
This is aqua blue acrylic with white & silver mylar stars. I finished with a gel top coat. Now you're extra famous Ally!

Fourth of July rebel! This is a fun spin on fourth of July nails. The blue tiger stripes were painted on with polish.

These are little pink mylar flowers added into the acrylic. If you're a regular reader of my blog I'm sure you're not surprised that I added pink dots!

This is a fun design I did with mylar dots. I put a thin layer of acrylic on and then added the dots on top while it was still a little wet. Then I added clear acrylic on top of that. I finished with a gel topcoat for extra shine!

This is pink and white acrylic with little painted white dots as an accent. I did the ring fingers with an opposite color scheme of the other nails.
