China Glaze Bare If You Dare

Posted by Unknown

Hey every one! Quick update before I head to bed, it's almost 12 AM here. I apologize for the lack of update and the lack of response to the comments. I've been so busy lately and it's annoying because this is suppose to be my spring break :(

I have for you China Glaze's Bare If You Dare. I bought this awhile back because I thought it would be a dupe for OPI's Love Me Tender (before I found a cheap one on amazon)

Although it is not the exact dupe of it, I'm glad I got this polish because it is a stunning peachy color with golden shimmer. Although it is a bit sheer, this took 4 coats and the drying time was a little long. As you can see my index nail has a slight dent, and that's within 20 minutes after the manicure!

So I'm sorry that I have to make this post short, but I am extremely pooped out and in great need of sleep. Good night everyone!

Fantasia

Posted by Unknown

Hey Y'all! This is the design I'm currently wearing on my nails. I created it with Stardust confetti glitter from confetti.com mixed with acrylic. They have glitter kits that are so cute! I also used silver glitter acrylic that I mixed with silver glitter I got from Michael's craft store. I topped the design off with tiny Turquoise star Rhinestones that I got from karlinsu88 ebay store.

For this design I made my thumb different than my other fingers. I faded my stardust glitter on that tip & I did the other tips with a smile line. After applying the glitter to the tips I encapsulated the entire nail with clear acrylic & then filed & shaped the nail.

To decorate my design, I created a star on the tip of the thumb and a crescent moon at the manicure line for the rest of my nails. I did this with the silver glitter acrylic. And as a final touch, I applied a small turquoise star near the cuticle of each nail.

Ulta3 oranges

Posted by Unknown

Here are four Ulta3 colours in the orange range.

First up is Spring Fling.  This is a peachy cream that almost blends with your skin colour, but then you look at it again and it looks like it clashes with your skin.  This is two coats, which applied beautifully and dried fast.

Watermelon - this colour has received some awesome raves.  I like it, its a pinky salmon colour to me.  This was two coats and I can just see a nail line.  Applied great like the other Ulta3s.

Crazy - is a bright orange with a gold shimmer.  Very cool, I like it a lot.  This was three coats, and there is still and slight nail line.

I actually published the post and forgot to include 'Tahiti'- which is a neon pinky orange.  This was three coats, with one Seche Vite top coat because like all neon colours it dries matte.

I have a big batch of Ulta3 pinks that I have swatched and am writing up, so stay tuned to see.
Eighties Fuchsia
Flashback Fuchsia
Footloose Fuchsia
Gooseberry
Mulberry
Black plum
Silver pink
Star dust
Tahiti
Pink Supreme
Pink Colada
Beesting
Bo-peep

I also swatched my Ulta3 blues and greens which I'm writing up:
Bottle green
Jelly
Jelly bean
Lagoon
Little boy blue
Razzle (and a comparison between the razzle and little boy blue)
Metal
Wasabi

mini swatch & update!

Posted by Unknown on Tuesday, March 30, 2010

back when i first started my blog [a month ago. haha] i posted "all" of my past nail art into a blog. guess not! i found more that i forgot i did & i didnt post em! so i just wanted to add them in here. [pictures open up in a new screen]

i also bought a few new polishes from over the weekend and today & swatched a few of them.

picked up the Finger Paints polish today & the F21 polishes were bought on Sunday. [icky picture, sorry!]

Finger Paints Blissfully Blue. i LOVE this color! i guess FP came out with a new spring line of colors cause this was with its own display case with 4 or 5 other polishes at Sallys. anyway, two coats for this adorable baby blue! i loooove this one!

Love & Beauty Teal Blue. this color is a real beauty! i didnt think i would like it as much as i do! here is two coats of the polish but one coat would've done fine! there are tiny teal glitters? in the polish so [as in the picture above] in the light, the glitters will seen.

Love & Beauty Orchid. sorry for a bad, goopy looking picture. i got really impatient [again] and yea...thats what happened =P anyway, this looks all silver but theres purple/orchid glitters? in the polish too! when i was putting this on outside, the reflection of the sun in the polish was blindingggg me! haha but this one is two coats; again, one coat probably would've been fine.

i have to say!, im really impressed with Forever 21's polishes! i gotta go hunt more! =)

also want to mention, i've already bought the stuff for my giveaway!!! so excited! i just need three more followers to get to 50! even if i dont get my three followers, some time this Thursday...im going to post up the giveaway details cause i wont have time this weekend to post.

hope you had a great day!

Felicity Marble

Posted by Unknown

Sorry I missed last week's post. A head cold and a seriously busy week at work got the best of me, I'm afraid. The good news is, last week's manicure is already scheduled to post next week, so I'm caught up for two weeks now. :-)

I decided to play with simple brush marbling this week - and I was going to do a video for you, but couldn't find the tripod. I will definitely get this done sometime this spring - I really like how it turned out (just ignore my poor clean up job, if you don't mind - I was in a hurry this morning).

I started with a base of Pure Ice "Platinum" - two coats over Seche Vite base coat.
Then I took Zoya's "Felicity", which is a semi-sheer light pink, and sort of swirled it on very lightly just using the brush in zig-zag motions over the nail.
I did that a few more times, alternating swirls of Platinum and Felicity for a light marbled look, and then I brushed CND Effects "Raspberry Sparkle" over the whole thing for shimmer. Unfortunately, it just doesn't show very well in photos - it's a pretty subtle effect.
Then I added a few faux pearls...just for some interest/texture, and covered them with a coat of Seche Vite topcoat. (Excuse the blurry photo - I need to find that tripod!)
Something still wasn't quite right...so I decided to see what it would look like with Essie's "Matte About You" topcoat to matte everything down. I put a drop of Seche topcoat on the pearls to keep them somewhat shiny. I really like the way it turned out, soft and almost satiny with a slight pink shimmer.
I still think these need "something" - maybe take the pearls off all but just the one nail with three. But overall, I love how the colors swirled together and matted down. I think it would work with any sheer polishes. I'll be trying it again, certainly.

Happy Easter, and happy polishing until next time! :-)
