Lush Lacquer Chubby Checker

Posted by Unknown on Friday, May 11, 2012

Hello!

I hope you guys are having a good Friday!

Today's featured polish comes from Lush Lacquer, another super awesome indie seller. I recently ordered a few polishes from them and was very impressed with what I got. I honestly haven't been this excited about an indie polish in a while!

The one I am showing you today is called Chubby Checker, a sheer but shimmery base with various black and white glitters. When I saw this on Etsy, it looked like a milky pink base that would build up in a few coats. So I was a little surprised to it was actually a sheer shimmer. Honestly though, I think I like it a lot better that way! The base is sheer enough that it will go over any color, which makes this a really versatile polish.

Below is 2 coats of Chubby Checker over China Glaze Sweet Hook. The accent nail is 2 coats of Jordana Rhinestones.

I had this idea to stamp a poodle (from the Bundle Monster plates) on a nail with a leash going on to the other nails for a little 50s vibe. And then I couldn't find that one plate...the only one I wanted was gone. I mean, what are the chances?! Just figures. haha So this is where the mani ended. I still liked it a lot anyway.

I wanted to show you the lovely shimmer Chubby Checker has. I'm kinda obsessed. :)

Have you guys heard of Lush Lacquer? Do you like what you see from them?

Color Club Antiquated + Jordana Green Glitz

Posted by Unknown on Wednesday, March 21, 2012

Hi readers!

This post isn't very exciting, but I will try to make up for that in future posts...so thanks for sticking with me anyway. :)

This turned out to be my mani for St. Patrick's Day, even though I had a lot more exciting things in mind. My life is just so busy at the moment. :O

The base is Color Club Antiquated with 2 coats of Jordana Green Glitz. I highly recommend these new Jordana Glitters, there is such a huge variety to choose from and they are all pretty unique.

Thanks again for sticking with me through the not so exciting posts! :)

Black & White 10 Day Challenge Day 3: Color on Black

Posted by Unknown on Wednesday, March 7, 2012

Hey there!

Today is day 3 of the 10 day black and white challenge I am participating in. Today's task is color over a black base. This is also my first time using fimos! So here is what I came up with:

This is Wet 'n Wild Inkwell with Jordana Fairy Dust on top. I wasn't expecting to love this combo as much as I did! Then I had some pre-sliced fimos that gave the perfect accent. I just stuck these in the polish once it was tacky and applied topcoat over them. The fimos actually stayed pretty well!

Be sure to take a look at the other blogs participating in the challenge!

Jordana Glitters Specialty Nail Polish Swatches and Review

Posted by Unknown on Thursday, January 19, 2012

Hi ladies! I hope you all are comfy because this post is LONG! But hopefully in a good way...there is lots of glitter involved. :) I recently received the new Jordana Glitter Specialty Polish collection to review. Jordana really outdid themselves in terms of variety and selection...there are 18 polishes in the line, and 12 of those will be available in February at Kmart, with 6 more coming soon! That's a HUGE glitter collection!

So here are some quick bottle shots...I am so in love with the shiny lettering. Not that I needed cute packaging to suck me in to wanting these. ;)

Ready for swatches?

First up is Blue Bash. Below is 3 coats. This is made up of medium and small royal blue glitters in a clear base.

This is Celebration, a lavenderwith 2 small sizes of glitter. It's full coverage in only 2 coats, and also my current pedi!

This is Pixie Pink, a rose pink glitter. Below is one coat over Zoya Areej. I don't think this one would get full coverage very well.

This one is called Celestial. If you have been reading my blog for a while you know I have a soft spot for these shades. This one is 2 coats.

Next is Green Glitz. I think this one would have been better off with some underwear, but I still like it. This is small grass green glitter in a slightly tinted green base.

This is LA City Nights. This was a surprise favorite of mine! This is royal blue and purple glitter in a clear base. Here, it is layered over Kleancolor Pastel Blue.

This is Lunar Lights. To me this seems like a combo of China Glaze Snowglobe and Hard Candy Breakup. Here it is layered over CND Asphalt, but I don't think it does the iridescent glitters justice!

This is My Superstar. I wish I would have used 2 coats here, but hopefully you get the idea. This has gold, red, and blue glitters in a clear base. Here it is layered over CND Gold Chrome.

This is Rhinestones. This is one coat, but I bet it could work up to full opacity pretty easily since the base seems to be tinted. This was another surprise favorite.

Here is Sequins. This would have looked a little better with 2 coats, below is one. This is medium berry glitter with some blue and silver also. Here it is layered over Color Club Pucci-licious.

Next is Cosmic, another favorite of mine (and I bet you can guess why)! I layered this over NYX Soft Teal. This polish has meduim green, blue and silver glitters, as well as some small blue. This is 2 coats.

This is Fairy Dust. This is 3 coats. It's a pale pink/lilac with holo glitters. Very pretty and still understated for a glitter.

Next is Gold Glam. This one coat is layered over Color Club Antiquated. It's fine gold glitter in a clear base with holo diamond glitter. I like this one because I don't have anything like it, but the diamond glitter is a little hard to place.

This is Funky Gold Town. Medium gold glitters in a clear base. I like this one also...here it it with 1 coat layered over Zoya Pippa.

We have seen a lot of versions of rainbow glitter recently, and this one is no different. It's called Gemstones and this is one coat layered over China Glaze Poinsettia.

This is Bronze Fest. One coat layered over CND Gold Chrome...another one that I think needed 2 to look it's best.

Next is Copper Blaze layered over Color Club Chelsea Girl. This is 2 coats.

And finally (!) this is Magenta Magic layered over Zoya Ali. This is one coat.

Kudos to you that have made it this far! For more info, here is the press release for these glitters. The ones with dots are coming soon, and the ones available at Kmart in February are: Magenta Magic, Celebration, Fairy Dust, Sequins, Gemstones, Cosmic, Celestial, LA City Nights, Blue Bash, Copper Blaze, Funky Gold Town, and Rhinestones.

Overall these glitters are super fun, and a great addition to my collection. Although some needed a little thinner, that wouldn't stop me from purchasing them again.

I would love to hear your thoughts on these! Any favorites?

Jordana Pop Art Striping Polish- The Designer

Posted by Unknown on Thursday, October 6, 2011

Hey readers! How is everyone? We are having our first freezing/slightly snowy day today. :P

Here is Zoya Tamsen, which I have shown you before, but here you go again! A perfect brick red creme, completely covers in 2 coats.

For some more excitement, Jordana's Pop Art nail art polish in The Designer was added. This is a striping polish with a thin brush for nail art. Since it is a glitter though, you have to trace back over your lines to get it completely opaque. I love the flair simple, glittery lines add to a mani! This would be fun for the holidays for sure! And the pearls are from Born Pretty and were just stuck in the wet polish.

I don't have a lot of experience with striping polish, but I can see how these can come in super handy for easy, quick nail art! Have any of you tried these before?

*Striper was sent for review.

Jordana Easy Shine Lip Color Swatches/Review

Posted by Unknown on Tuesday, September 27, 2011

Hey everyone! Today is a quick post to show you some Jordana lip colors. These are called Easyshine and they are a mix between a balm/lipstick/gloss. Kind of like the Covergirl Natureluxe ones only I like these better! :)

The shades below are: Cotton Candy, Fresh Melon, and Raspberry. These are also scented as their names imply. The scent isn't overbearing...I only noticed it when I was first applying.

I swatched on white just so you could see how these truly look since sheer lip products look different on everyone. L-R: Raspberry, Cotton Candy, Fresh Melon

And here they are on my skin. You can tell the last 2 are more sheer on me than the paper.

Overall, I really like these! They don't last very long because of the glossy nature it has, but these are perfect to keep in your bag as a quick pick me up for your lips to moisturize and add a hint of color. These come in more shades as well. You can find Jordana at Kmart, local drugstores, and Cherryculture.com which is having 25% off sitewide until the 30th!

What do you think? Will you guys be trying any of these out? <3

Jordana Eyeliner Swatches and Review

Posted by Unknown on Friday, September 16, 2011

Happy Friday everyone! Today is the first rainy, cool day of the season and I kind of love it! I probably won't be saying that in a few months though. haha

Today I am showing you some swatches of Jordana's retractable eyeliners. They come from 3 separate lines:

Bright Eyes- These are matte shades that remind me of how crayons look! I love fun colors for eyes so I think you could get really creative with the looks you come up with with these pencils. The names for these are pretty straightforward: Purple, Pink, Orange, Blue. Purple and Orange were the least pigmented  and needed a second coat to build up. The Blue and Pink went on really well though in just one. These also have great staying power.

Metal Rocks- I loved all of these! Out of Green Envy, Paradise Blue, and Purple Prism, I think the purple is my fave. These were all super creamy and once applied, looked like an actual cream liner. The metallics are very flattering and there are enough shades to mesh with any eye color. All of these are very pigmented and stay on all day.

Glitter Rocks- Punk Rock Purple is a medium dark purple shade with glitter. I thought the glitter would look cheesy and juvenile, but it actually meshes really well into the purple for a more shimmery effect. This would be a super easy way to dress up your look!

Jordana actually has free shipping with a $25 purchase on their site right now! You can also find Jordana at drugstores, and Kmart. Which are your favorites?
