Ozotic 761 - duochrome maybe not, stamping YES!

I have another polish from the Ozotic 700 series to show you today.  This is Ozotic 761, which as you can see is a metallic charcoal colour.

It is a little tricky to apply because it does show the brush strokes a bit, and truthfully, I couldn't see any duochrome shift in this polish at all.  But on the up side, this polish was a one coater, which means.... perfect for stamping.

Here is some stamping I did with this polish.  I kept 761 on my ring finger and stamped it with Konad Special white polish.  On the other fingers I applied two coats of Pretty Serious Forbidden Fruit and stamped it with Ozotic 761.

Wowsers, I seemed to take an awful lot of photos of this mani didn't I?  One thing I did notice was that Ozotic 761 is nearly the exact same colour as Layla Mirror Effect - Black as Ebony, although the finishes are completely different.  However, Ozotic 761 is eleventy billion times easier to do stamping with than the Layla Mirror Effect polish.

Ozotic 737 duochrome

Wow, after such an epic last post, it's hard to come back with something else exciting.  Thanks so much everyone for you comments about my magnets, I'm so glad you found it helpful.

I'll get straight to today's nail stuff.  Today I have another of the Ozotic duochromes from the 700 series.  This is another duochrome that really changes depending whether you layer it over white or black.

In the bottle it looks like an iridescent pink polish, with a slightly milky shimmer to it.  The shimmer in this shifts from pink to orange/gold. This is two coats over a white base.

Over white, it's harder to see the gold shift, but it's there.

This polish is very sheer on it's own.  This is two coats and as you can see, you can see right through to my little white nail tips.  I feel a little naked just wearing this on it's own. I'm not really used to wearing such sheet polishes.

Finally, here it is over black.  It really transforms from a light summery polish into more of an Autumn/Winter polish, which is great because it means you can wear it all year round.

As usual with Ozotic polishes, the formula on this was just perfect.  Even though it has a very shimmery finish, it applies very smoothly and not streaky or frosty.

Ozotic 745 layered over black/white gradient

Last week I show you Ozotic 745 duochrome, which has two completely different looks depending on whether you layer it over black or over white.

Rebecca wondered what it would look like layered over a black and white gradient, and I thought it would be awesome to try, so here is the result.

Kinda weird and interesting at the same time.  Unfortunately I did get some bubbling on of few fingers, which made it a bit of a fail, but I was still glad to have tried it out.

Ozotic 743 duochrome (apparently)

Here is another pretty Ozotic that was sent to me for review.  This is Ozotic 743 from the duochrome range.

I absolutely love this colour, but I have to say I did really struggle to see the duochrome effect with this polish.  All the other Ozotic duochromes that I have tried have a very strong and obvious colour shift, but this one is very subtle *read as nearly non existent*.

Here is Ozotic 743 on its own, two coats. Nice opacity at two coats.

Next I tried it over black to see if it would bring out the duochrome colour shift any stronger.  Unfortunately it only made a teeny tiny difference.

The below photo was the closest I got to capturing the colour shift in this polish.  The aqua shimmer of the polish remains, but the base colour seems to shift a little darker blue. 

Finally, over white.

I seriously could not find any swatches of this polish online.  One or two bottle shots, but that was about it.  If you own this polish and have photos of it swatched, I'd love to see them.  Feel free to spam my comments with your links to photos.

Ozotic 745 a polish with two personalities

I've got a really cool duo-chome polish to show you today from Ozotic.  I swatched this last weekend before I broke several nails and I really love how this looks.  I can honesty say this polish really has two completely different personalities.

First up is the stunning pale pink look with a really fine but strong gold shimmer.  The gold shimmer makes the pink polish lean coral coloured and dispute it looking very sheer, it still has complete coverage of the nail in just two coats.

This is two coats of 745 on it's own.  Above with partial sun and below in the shade.

In the sun this polish really warms up and is a pink toned gold.  It's a really pretty gold, not too orange, and it suited my skin tone beautifully.

Next I layered one coat of 745 over a white base.  It's kind of similar to how it looks without a white base except in the shade the white base brings out the pink more.

In the sun, the white base seems to cool down the gold a little. So pretty.

Now here is the second personality of this polish.  If the above photos show it's light and pretty side, these photos show it's gritty and edgier side.  Layered over black you'd swear it was a completely different bottle of polish. The black base seems to complete hide or remove the pink tinge to this polish, and instead you get a cool, almost green toned gold polish.

This is two coats layered over a black base.

It is definitely a little frosty, and you can see brush strokes, but I really didn't care about them because it was such an amazing transformation.  Plus, it actually turns into such a pretty gold colour.  I love my gold polishes, and this has quite sneakily got up in there with some of my favourites.

I really love this over black, but surprisingly for me I also really love it over white and on it's own.  I actually wore it on it's own as a full mani and was quite surprised that I chose to do that, especially given that I'm not hugely into pink polishes.  But because of the strong gold undertones I really didn't feel like I was wearing pink.

Ozotic's discontinued! & duochrome 744

Sad news out today from Picture Polish. Ozotic discontinuing a huge part of their line.  Not just one or two polishes, nope, the whole 500 series!! Which ones are in the 500 series you ask?  Well... all the Multi-chromes, all the Holographics, all the Mish Mash and all the Elytra's.  Discontinued. Done. Dead!  

If you want to snap up some bargains, get over to Picture Polish now and grab a bottle of the discontinued ones for just $11AUD.   Picture Polish said on Facebook that they hear Ozotic has something new on the horizon.  All I can say Ozotic, is it better be pretty bloody awesome for you to stop making the 500 series.  The 500 series of polishes are so loved and seem to sell so well, I really can't understand why they would discontinue them.

They are continuing to make the 600 and 700 series.  The 600 are the high impact holographics, or the large particle holos (which are gorgeous in their own right). The 700 series are the duochromes.  And it is another one of those that I have for you today.

This is Ozotic 744, a cornflower blue and purple duochrome.  First up is two coats of 744 layered over black.

Over black you see a pretty dusty lavender purple.

There is a definite dusty blue colour shift.

Next I layered it over white.  Over white the purple shimmer is still very definitely there, but you see a lot more of the cornflower blue shade. Like!

It doesn't look like a totally different polish over white, but it certainly brings out some of the other shades in the polish a lot more.  I think I prefer this polish over white rather than over black because you seem to see more colour shift over white! That seems the total reverse that what we usually see.

Finally, I just wore two coats of 744 on it's own.  I said it on Monday with Ozotic 730, and I'll say it again now.  I do really love that you don't have to layer these duo-chromes over black to bring out the colour shift.  Sometimes I just don't like that black dirty look under the nail, that layering over black can make.

So this is another win in the duochrome department. It's a really pretty combo of colours.  Purple and blue are always perfect together, but I love that this is light cornflower blue and a lavender purple.

So people, we may not have shown these Ozotic duochromes much love in the past, but soon, these will be some of the only Ozotics that we can show love too. 

I wonder if this means that there will be no more Chemistry or B Range 500 series too?
