Sephora + Pantone Universe Prisma Chrome Blush in Apricot Brandy

Posted by Unknown on Saturday, May 12, 2012

Hey everyone!

I wanted to show yall another piece of the Sephora + Pantone Universe collection I recently got. You can see swatches of the nail polish part of the collection *here*. Like I said before, I love this idea of collaboration between the two and hope to see it again in the future!

So today's post features the Prisma Chrome Blush in Apricot Brandy. This shade sort of reminds me of Milani Luminoso in that it's universally flattering. Here is the packaging. It was a lot smaller than expected, but I don't see myself plowing through this too fast.

And below are some swatches. This blush does have a shimmer quality to it and at first I was a little turned off by that. But after applying it to my face, it comes off as more of a luminous sheen when it hits the light on the angles of my face. Also, I tried applying this with a brush and it never built up to a good color so I used my fingers instead and got much better results!

Overall, I would definitely recommend this for a gorgeous, luminous glow on any skin tone. You can find this blush at Sephora and Sephora.com.

Thoughts on this blush? Do you like the collaboration between Pantone and Sephora?

Nail Art Looks Featuring Polish from the Sephora + Pantone Tangerine Tango Polish Set

Posted by Unknown on Wednesday, May 2, 2012

Hi readers!

Today I just wanted to show you a couple nail art looks I had done using some of the polish from the Sephora + Pantone Tangerine Tango polish set. If you missed my post with swatches of the whole set, you can see that here

This first look used the matte and glitter versions of Tangerine Tango to make a fun gradient. I loved the overall effect this had.

Sadly all I got was a cell phone pic of this one because I was on the road, but this is the creme Tangerine Tango with Orly Luxe stamped on top.

For someone that doesn't like to wear anything too similar twice, I keep turning to these shades because they are so bright and fun, but not too crazy. Gotta love Tangerine Tango! haha

Thanks for reading...you guys are the best!!

Sephora + Pantone Universe Tangerine Tango Nail Polish Set Swatches and Review

Posted by Unknown on Tuesday, May 1, 2012

Hey everyone!

It's been a while since I have done a swatch/review post so today I am going to change that. I'm sure most of you have heard the buzz surrounding the collaboration between Sephora and Pantone Universe  to create a makeup collection in the color of the year. For some reason I loved this idea, and had to get a few items from the collection (posts on the rest of my purchase to come).

As with most luxury cosmetics, the packaging is usually decadent and this polish set is no different. It comes in a gorgeous box with the polish set in foam. I usually purchase drugstore priced makeup, but it's definitely fun to splurge on something like this every so often.

So if you haven't guessed by now, the Pantone Universe color of the year is a bright, saturated orange shade called Tangerine Tango. I hardly go for orange nails because it's not always flattering, but this shade is VERY wearable because of it's reddish undertone.

This set includes a glitter, matte, creme, and shimmer version of Tangerine Tango. As a note, the square tops pull of to reveal a smaller, easier to use brush handle.

First up is Tangerine Tango Creme. This is actually more of a creme/jelly hybrid. This baby has amazing shine without topcoat! This is about 3 coats here. I love the juicy, summery look this gives.

Next is Tangerine Tango Shimmer. YES PLEASE! Seriously, how gorgeous is this? This is 3 coats here. I am so in love with the shimmer flecks. I think it's one of my favorite finishes in a polish.

This is Tangerine Tango Glitter. This was the main reason I wanted this set. I had never really seen a glitter this color before. This has orange and coppery glitters that give it amazing dimension. This polish just glows! I can't wait to wear it as a pedi once I have a tan. haha This polish started out thin, but the longer it was open the thicker it became. But that 's pretty normal for a glitter. Below is 3 coats.

And finally here is Tangerine Tango Matte. This had a fabulous formula for having a notoriously difficult to work with finish. This didn't dry too fast before finishing a smooth coat. Below is 2 coats.

So even though this set has basically all the same color in it, there is a great variety with the finishes that make it appealing. Since this is such a great color for summer, I can see myself using these polishes often. I really hope to see more collections like this each year because the idea is so fun!

You can purchase this set as well as other makeup items from the Sephora + Pantone collaboration in Sephora stores and at Sephora.com for $24.

So what do you think of this set? Do you like the color of the year?

sephora hello kitty liquid nail art - purple sprinkles - swatch and review

Posted by Unknown on Thursday, April 28, 2011

My HK polish came in the mail today! But sadly that was the only thing. I have no patience.
However, this little beauty will make me happy until my other goodies arrive.

So. Freaking. Cute.
I took a ton of pictures, half of them of the bottle alone. Keep reading for more!
(For some reason the spacing between words and pictures just won't remain the same in the editor and in the post - so excuse the sloppy spacing.)

My first thought when I opened the package was that it was smaller than I expected! So I took a comparison shot.

Despite being so tiny, the brush was actually really wide. Wider than China Glaze.
The brush isn't the best but it is fine. I'm not too picky about brushes.

Look how small and cute it is!
Sephora describes Purple Sprinkles as sheer grape with iridescent glitter, and that is pretty dead-on!

Too cute. The next picture is high-res so I suggest you click on it to see all the glitter!
The bigger glitter is similar to that in OPI's Last Friday Night - green, blue, bit of orange. But there is also purple and a bit of pink. And there is smaller glitter that is purple as well.

Okay, do you want to see it on the nail now?! Not yet.
First I need to show you what I wore under it.
This polish is sheer and I don't want to use it all up doing 3/4 coats for opacity. So I decided to layer it over a light purple to let its darker base pop too.

I chose Sally Hansen Xtreme Wear in Lacey Lilac. Almost the best lavender ever. I think it needs a bit more purple in it though. I might franken it.

Ahh, right hand! I forgot to take a picture of this on my left hand before I added the HK. Sorry for the awkward picture!

Okay. Now you can see Purple Sprinkles on my nails.

I love it so much! Instantly catapulted into my top faves.

When you look at it in the light it's just gorgeous purple with all this pretty iridescent glitter, and you can see all the different colors.
There is nothing else I can say about how pretty it is!

I just love purple too much. And glitter. And of course Hello Kitty.

Now, had I written this post immediately after doing my swatch today I would have had nothing bad to say.
But then I went out with my mom for a bit, and sadly realized that something was happening that I never experienced before.
Shrinkage!
This polish shrank so bad under my Seche Vite. I really thought that was a myth until today!

:(

Look how bad it shrunk! Some of the Lacey Lilac stayed on my tip, and the HK shrank back.
So disappointed.
Is not using a quick drying topcoat the only way to stop this from happening?
Too bad.

I planned on doing some stamping over this later, and I guess I'll try to cover up the tips!
Despite the shrinkage, I am SO HAPPY I decided to buy this.
These polishes retail for $10 from Sephora.
