OPI The Amazing Spiderman Collection Swatches and Review

Posted by Unknown on Thursday, June 14, 2012

Good morning everyone! Today I have a collection that I was anticipating to share with you guys (though you may have seen review and swatches every where already). Today's post is a review on OPI's The Amazing Spiderman Collection for Spring 2012. I can NOT wait for this movie to come out! Huge spidey lover lol

Anyways, this collection consists of six colors and a green shatter. So when I heard a green shatter was coming out, you can imagine how excited I was. On with the swatches.

Just Spotted the Lizard is yellow and green duochrome with hints of blue in certain lighting. Very similar to Chanel's Peridot. Even though we've seen this color around now, it's still very pretty to look at. 2 coats.

My Boyfriend Scales Walls is a pure white creme. 2 coats. Yes a white creme that is fully opaque in 2 coats and is not streaky at all! LOVE!

Your Web or Mine? is a rosey pink with a pearly finish. 2 coats. Very elegant and sophisticated looking pink.

Call Me Gwen-ever is an orangey coral creme. 2 coats. This looks a lot brighter in person.

Into the Night is a midnight blue shimmer that really glows in person. 2 coats. It has such a vibrant hue.

Number One Nemesis is a mixture of gray and golden shimmers. 2 coats. Very interesting color!

And of course, the green shatter, which is called Shatter the Scales. I put it over every color in this collection. Shatter the Scales is a forest green shimmer shatter.

The formula for this collection is excellent. Very interesting choices of colors. Even though we've seen colors like Just Spotted the Lizard, I still really liked that color. It's a cheaper alternative to Chanel's Peridot. I haven't done a comparison myself between the two, but from other comparisons I've seen, they are pretty similar. I also really liked that My Boyfriend Scales the Walls is a fully opaqued white creme and it is not streaky at all. I love applying polishes without hassle!

Overall, I am pretty satisfied with this collection. There wasn't a single polish I didn't like. And the green shatter is just pure prettiness. What are your views on the Amazing Spiderman Collection?

Well this is all I have for today. I will be away for the weekend, so I hope everyone enjoy a lovely weekend!

connect the... diagonal neons?

Posted by Unknown on Monday, June 11, 2012

Afternoon everyone!
Here's the mani I mentioned in yesterday's post about Lynnderella's Connect The Dots - a fun neon mani with CtD on top!

Tada!
I think CtD is best over a neon color... And even better over two of them!

This mani started out with two coats of Julep - Hayden, one of the few Julep colors I love.
I then painted half my nail with Color Club - Poptastic, which I had to do 2 coats of to make it even.
I added 2 coats of Lynnderella - Connect The Dots on top.
And this fun neon mani was born!

I got a ton of compliments on this mani just because it is so eye catching!
Several people were really confused as to how I "did" the black and white - they don't believe it's just glitter.

What do you guys think of neons + black and white glitter? I basically can't get enough.

Zoya Beach & Surf Collection

Posted by Unknown on Saturday, June 9, 2012

Hi everyone! I  have a long awaited post today. Today's review is on Zoya's Beach & Surf Collection for summer 2012. The reason I took so long for this post was because two polishes got destroyed during transit so I had to order the other two. But as always it's better late than never right?

Zoya Beach Collection consists of 6 gorgeous summer colors, 5 of which are cremes, and 1 with a slight shimmer.

Reagan is a dark fuchsia creme which leans toward to a little on the purple side. 2 coats

Lara is light fuchsia creme. 2 coats

Shelby is a bright bubble gum pink creme. Very girly and barbie pink like. 2 coats

Arizona is a light orange creme. Not light enough to be categorized as pastel, but this is a pretty bright orange. 2 coats

Tracie is a light green with a semi pearly finish. This is the only one that is not a creme polish. 2 coats

Wednesday is a turquoise creme. It is a lot more greener in person. 2 coats

Overall, the Beach collection is one of my favorite collections so far for the Summer 2012. All the colors matches Summer perfectly and they matched my skin tone. The formula were pretty good, it wasn't thick or thin and I had no problems with application.

Zoya Surf Collection consists of 6 bright colors with a foil/metallic finish.

Rory is a light pink with lots of silver flecks giving it a shimmery finish. 2 coats

Carly is a reddish plum with metallic finish. This color seems to be 'glowing' if you understand what I'm talking about! 2 coats

Kimber is a reddish pink with golden flecks. This one is super bright and super gorgeous. I think this might be my favorite one of the collection. 2 coats

Myrta is a bright orange with silver flecks giving it a metallic finish look. 2 coats

Meg is a super light midori green with silver flecks. This one is super bright and also glows. 2 coats

Zuza is a teal blue with silver flecks. My picture makes this color look so dull, but in person it's so bright and gorgeous. 2 coats.

Overall, the Surf collection is STUNNING. I love the whole foil/metallic like finish which makes the polishes stand out on your nails. The formula for these were perfect. I would've thought there will be streak marks being they're a little metallic ish, but there was none. It applied so perfectly with no problems at all.

Zoya did an excellent job with the Beach & Surf collection. There is not a single color I did not like or enjoy. But I got the most compliments with the Surf collection!

Well that's all I have for today, what do you guys think of these two collections for summer?

(These were sent to me for review, except Tracie and Meg, which were purchase by myself)

Finally Back

Posted by Unknown on Tuesday, May 29, 2012

After what seems like FOREVER... I finally have internet at my new house. It was briefly hooked up when posted on 5/22/12 about my new polish room, and then they came to bury the phone line outside the next day. It killed it. I've argued with my phone company ever since that they messed something up, but just got through their thick skulls today. So finally it's fixed and all is good in the world again.

My nails are still in slightly pitiful shape, but they are getting better each day. In the mean time, I'll be showing you some pics that I had taken either before or during the move. Sorry, but because it's been so long I don't remember exactly what polishes I used or how many coats. Just enjoy pretty pictures. :)

I'm pretty sure that I used Deborah Lippmann Lara's Theme and Barielle Lemondrops.
I wanted to try out the two finger accent nail combo.

Then I added a coat of Lynnderella Connect The Dots because it always looks great over bright colors.

Until next time ladies!

the sun isn't shining but my gradient is!

Posted by Unknown on Friday, May 25, 2012

Here in Newfoundland, we don't get a whole bunch of sunny days. Maybe in July and August... A week or two... But it's not too hot usually.
I've gotta keep my nails sunny, even if the sky isn't!

Woohoo! Summery gradient!
Me and some friends all decided to do gradients on this lovely Friday, and here's what I came up with.

My color combo was inspired by one of my "nail crushes" - Ivana Thinks Pink. There's nothing she does that I don't like! Seriously. Ivana, quit being so awesome!
She did this mani using China Glaze Peachy Keen and Orly Fancy Fuchsia. Hot damn, I need Fancy Fuchsia. Why don't I have it?! Jeez. I NEED IT! Her nails were glowing. Amazing.

I used the same peach - China Glaze Peachy Keen.
I tried to substitute Zoya Lo for the pink but it just doesn't look quite so hot.
It's still pretty though!
But one day I will redo the mani... Whenever I find myself Fancy Freakin' Fuchsia.

To do this gradient, I tried the new gradient tutorial that is sweeping the blog world, from The Nailasaurus.
But, I couldn't get that to work... At all. It just was not showing up with these colors.
So I went in and did it the way I'm used to, which you can see in my older tutorial here.
But I still wanted the flawless blended look you can get from the newer way, so I ended up doing that on TOP of the gradient that I did my way. And that turned out magical! It blended the colors seamlessly.

After that, I stamped the floral pattern from Konad plate m65. It's almost like a Hawaiian shirt! Haha, I love it.

I'm was going to submit this in Kayla Shevonne's Nail Art Contest but then I realized you can't stamp for her contest. Damn!
If you haven't checked out her contest already, hurry! There's just less than 12 hours left to enter.

I hope you guys enjoy this mani! I'm going to be doing lots of gradients again because I just love them and it's been too long since I've done them! I think I might even do another one later today. Woohoo!

China Glaze Hunger Games Capitol Colours Collection

Posted by Unknown on Friday, May 18, 2012

Happy Friday!! I have a very picture heavy post today. Today I have the China Glaze Hunger Games Capitol Colours collection to share. I still have yet to watch the movie, but I did read the first book and fell in love with it. I'm actually looking forward to the movie whenever I have time for it. Anyways, I was quite excited when I heard China Glaze is making a collection for the Hunger Games.

Foie Gras is a mushroom brown creme. 2 coats.

Dress Me Up is a mocha light brown creme. 2 coats

Stone Cold is a charcoal black matte with silver shimmer. 2 coats

Fast Track is a light taupe creme base with gold shimmers. 2 coats. Absolutely love this one.

Hook and Line is a frosty light gray. 2 coats. Oh my, how unique and interesting is THIS one?!

Harvest Moon is a metallic copper shimmer. 2 coats. Another gorgeous color.

Mahogany Magic is a medium brown creme and it kind of reminds me those Werther's caramel hard candy. Yum..

Argo is an olive green shimmer. 2 coats.

Riveting is a fiery orange red with gold shimmers. 2 coats. It has a slight jelly finish. This one is beautiful!

Smoke and Ashes is a black base with blue and green shimmers. 2 coats. I love the green and blue shimmers in it.

Electrify is a mixture of gold and red glitters. 3 coats. Such an interesting glitter combination. This would be perfect for Chinese New Year lol

Electrify over Mahogany Magic

There's also a top coat called Luxe and Lush which is a chunky flake glitter in a clear base. I did it over a few polishes, which you can see below.

Luxe and Lush over Foie Gras

Luxe and Lush over Dress Me Up

Luxe and Lush over Stone Cold, you can see how shimmery Stone Cold is!

Luxe and Lush over Hook and Line

The formula for these were very good. They all applied very nicely and smoothly. I had so much fun wearing these. I can't really pick a favorite because there are so many gorgeous colors and so unique. I'm getting a headache just trying to think of one I like most of the rest. I guess they are all my favorites then haha

I ordered these from Victoria's Nail Supply and it was totally worth the money. What do you ladies think of this collection?
