OPI The Amazing Spiderman Collection Swatches and Review

Posted by Unknown on Thursday, June 14, 2012

Good morning everyone! Today I have a collection that I was anticipating to share with you guys (though you may have seen review and swatches every where already). Today's post is a review on OPI's The Amazing Spiderman Collection for Spring 2012. I can NOT wait for this movie to come out! Huge spidey lover lol

Anyways, this collection consists of six colors and a green shatter. So when I heard a green shatter was coming out, you can imagine how excited I was. On with the swatches.

Just Spotted the Lizard is yellow and green duochrome with hints of blue in certain lighting. Very similar to Chanel's Peridot. Even though we've seen this color around now, it's still very pretty to look at. 2 coats.

My Boyfriend Scales Walls is a pure white creme. 2 coats. Yes a white creme that is fully opaque in 2 coats and is not streaky at all! LOVE!

Your Web or Mine? is a rosey pink with a pearly finish. 2 coats. Very elegant and sophisticated looking pink.

Call Me Gwen-ever is an orangey coral creme. 2 coats. This looks a lot brighter in person.

Into the Night is a midnight blue shimmer that really glows in person. 2 coats. It has such a vibrant hue.

Number One Nemesis is a mixture of gray and golden shimmers. 2 coats. Very interesting color!

And of course, the green shatter, which is called Shatter the Scales. I put it over every color in this collection. Shatter the Scales is a forest green shimmer shatter.

The formula for this collection is excellent. Very interesting choices of colors. Even though we've seen colors like Just Spotted the Lizard, I still really liked that color. It's a cheaper alternative to Chanel's Peridot. I haven't done a comparison myself between the two, but from other comparisons I've seen, they are pretty similar. I also really liked that My Boyfriend Scales the Walls is a fully opaqued white creme and it is not streaky at all. I love applying polishes without hassle!

Overall, I am pretty satisfied with this collection. There wasn't a single polish I didn't like. And the green shatter is just pure prettiness. What are your views on the Amazing Spiderman Collection?

Well this is all I have for today. I will be away for the weekend, so I hope everyone enjoy a lovely weekend!

OPI Ink with Chemistry 205

Posted by Unknown on Monday, May 28, 2012

Ahhhhhh. Who doesn't love a bit of gorgeous purple shimmer?  Today's combo is the very pretty OPI Ink, which looks a murky dark blurple in the bottle, but on the nail it has a stunning purple shimmer.  Looking at swatches online it seems to be a lot more blue in most photos, but it's definitely more purple in real life.

This polish was released as part of the OPI Night Brights collection in 2007, the very same collection that had the original My Private Jet in it.  I don't know if this is in fact hard to find these days, but thanks to the lovely Alanna from Pretty Purple Polish that picked this up in Sydney for me.

Hummmmmm. Bar (or string) glitter.  You either love it or hate it.  Me? I love it, except when I get one placed vertically down the nail and it hangs over the free edge.  I always make sure there are no bars too close to the free edge, or else I just know I'm going to pick and fiddle at that bit until I get it off.  I also hate bar glitter that curls up.  That is just wrong.  Luckily I only have one polish that has some curly bar glitters in it, and I'm willing to forgive that shortcoming cause it's such a dang awesome polish (I'm talking about you She Lived in a Swamp!)

Anyway, this is Chemistry 205, which has a lightly tinted purple base, fine silver glitter that spreads out perfectly, and silver holographic bar glitter, which doesn't curl and lays perfectly smooth on the nail. Thanks go to Kristy from The Polish Haven for sending this awesome polish my way!

Two coats of OPI Ink, one coat of Chemistry 205, one coat of Seche Vite top coat.

I'm totally in love with this combo.  How about you? Yay or Nay on the bar glitter?

Jelly Glitter Sandwiches

Posted by Unknown on Tuesday, May 15, 2012

I don't have many jelly finish polishes in my stash. I like that they look all squishy and juicy, but I feel like they NEVER dry! Even if I use a quick dry top coat, they always get dinged up and ruined.
I recently showed you Sation Sheer Legs, which is in fact, Sheer! And I picked up a mini OPI Do You Think I'm Tex-y which is a jelly. So here are some jelly sandwiches!

This is 3 coats of Sation Sheer Legs topped with a coat of WnW Party of 5 Glitters then 1 additional coat of Sheer Legs. I think it makes for an exciting nude!

Do you like jellies? How do you feel about these kind of sandwiches?

Black and White Tribal

Posted by Unknown on Saturday, May 12, 2012

Oooh, more tribal nails! I hope you don't mind. :-) I just love how detailed it looks with only little effort, especially if you use it for an accent nail only. Also it's a cute eyecatcher that way and a great excuse for being lazy, haha. The tribal print was freehanded with a white striper polish over black and the purple is OPI's Planks A Lot. Thanks for stopping by!

OPI Minnie Mouse Collection

Posted by Unknown on Tuesday, May 8, 2012

Today I have OPI's Minnie Mouse collection to share with you guys. When I saw the promo for these I was super excited. One is because I'm a huge Disney fan, so I really love Mickey and Minnie Mouse. I'm not a huge fan of mouses per se, but Mickey and Minnie are an exception! haha

Anyways, this collection consists of 2 pinks, 1 red, and 1 glitter with hearts. Let's have a look!

If You Moust You Moust is a cute bubble gum pink creme. 2 coats

I'm All Ears is a fuchsia pink with light pink specks. 2 coats

The Color of Minnie is a red creme with very slight hints of shimmer. 2 coats. This is a very nice red that I can wear!

Nothin' Mousie 'bout It is a pink iridescent glitter and heart shapes. 2 coats

Nothin' Mousie 'bout It over If You Moust You Moust

The formula for these were perfect. They all applied perfectly smooth. It was a bit tough getting the hearts out from Nothin' Mousie 'bout It, it was the only polish that was a bit thick, but it's ok to me since it's a top coat.

Overall, this is a very cute collection, and I really like it. It brings out the girlyness in me!

What do you guys think of this collection?

Shocking

Posted by Unknown on Saturday, May 5, 2012

Hi everyone! :-) For today's short post I have this accent nail mani to show you. This afternoon I did a fresh mani with my favorite purple cream: OPI Funkey Dunkey. A few hours later I wanted to add a little eyecatcher, so it became this silver lightning bolt. It's a small addition, but just what I needed to complete this mani. ^^ Thanks for stopping by!

Sally Hansen Xtreme Wear - Pink Satin + Nail Art

Posted by Unknown on Sunday, April 29, 2012

More than just a swatch today. I've got a look showing it's stamp-ability as well as it's comparison to another polish. I saw this in the store and thought it looked "chrome" enough to stamp well. I'd been wanting a light pink polish to stamp with, so it came home with me.
This is 2 coats swatched. You can tell it's just a little bit "brush-strokey." Below is compared to China Glaze Emotion. Which is just a shade darker.
I accidentally reversed the order of my swatch-sicles....

To take care of the visible brushstrokes, I used my tried and true method for smoothing out the finish.

Then to test out it's stamp-ability I used the Bundle Monster zebra print image to do the following.
I used OPI Skull and Glossbones as a base polish, then stamped with China Glaze Emotion on my ring fingernail. I used Pink Satin on all the other nails.

Foxy Skull & Glossbones

Posted by Unknown on Monday, April 23, 2012

I found the perfect big sister polish to OPI Skull & Glossbones. Megan Miller Foxy. So I did this simple accent nail mani utilizing the two polishes.
This is 3 thin coats of each color.
