Flakie Crackle Heart Nails

Posted by Unknown on Thursday, March 1, 2012

I added some simple hearts in my favorite crackle polish La Rosa Maroon Red to my Zoya Chloe nails. I meant to post this before Valentine's Day but it got lost in the bustle of moving. Super easy & effective. I love the color combination.

OPI Pink Shatter, Two Looks

Posted by Unknown on Thursday, February 16, 2012

I still love crackle polishes & I probably always will. I rarely keep my nails the same for more than 3 days in a row, but occasionally I just don't have time to completely start fresh. If my nails are looking chipped or have tip wear & I'm in a rush, I always reach for a crackle. They dry quickly, are virtually foolproof, & easily cover any wear that I want to hide.

That being said, OPI Pink Shatter didn't win me over on my first try when paired with The Painted Nail by Nubar OMG Gorgeous. It dried matte & just seemed kind of weak & washed out. The formula was fine but very sheer for a crackle.
I wanted to give it another try before I gave up on it & I'm so glad I did. I layered it over Maybelline New Year's Blues with almost no expectations. The results were quite amazing. I think this combination would be a good start for some galaxy nails which I still haven't successfully done yet.

Diagonal crackle mani

Posted by Unknown on Saturday, January 7, 2012

Hi guys! For this post I have a diagonal tape mani to share with you. I just love those! They're so easy to make and a great way to combine polishes and different finishes. Today I didn't feel like spending too much time on my nails, so this was perfect. I applied one thicker coat of the navy creme China Glaze First Mate. Because it was just one coat it dried pretty quickly, so soon after I could place a tape strip on each nail. I knew I wanted a silver for the tips, but to add something special I picked a silver crackle polish: OPI Silver Shatter. It's so super shiny! Finally I added a fastdrying topcoat and my mani was done :) Thanks for reading ^^

Funky clouds

Posted by Unknown on Saturday, November 5, 2011

Hello everyone! I was in the mood for some funky nail art tonight but I didn't feel like spending too much time on it. And that's how I came up with these "funky clouds" you're looking at. I'm still no good at making up names for designs so don't make fun of me haha :P I started with two coats of OPI Funky Dunkey and then I applied Essence Bella on top in three quick strokes that form the cloudy shape together. After it had dried I repeated the steps a bit closer to the tips with OPI Silver Shatter, a layer of top coat and there you have it! I think it turned out pretty cute ^^ And I can't wait to use it with other color schemes. Hope you guys like it too! Good night :)

OPI The One That Got Away + Blue Shatter

Posted by Unknown on Thursday, October 6, 2011

Hello everyone, this week I wore OPI The One That Got Away. I love the berry pink color and the shimmery finish, but I got bored of it already the next day, so I added a coat of Blue Shatter for a quick metamorphosis. It's not the best combination, but at least it was different, haha. It's the second time that I used Blue Shatter and I absolutely love it. It's so bright and has a shimmery glow when it's matte. Gosh, I wish there was a regular, non-shattering version of it!
In the pictures, however, I also used a topcoat, which made everything shiny again, to minimalize the difference in finishes of the polishes. It was a bit too much for my taste :) See you soon!

V-gap and OPI Gold Shatter

Posted by Unknown on Friday, September 30, 2011

Hi guys! Yesterday I showed you my post with Orly Sweet Peacock, today I have the V-gap I made with it. First I mattified it with Essence Matt topcoat, which made it look stunning. Sweet Peacock is so sparkly that even with a soft, matte finish it still sparks like a gem. For the V-gap I placed triangles to cover up the blue and I applied OPI Gold Shatter on top. Gold Shatter is another new polish that arrived in my mailbox this week and I couldn't wait to try it out. Though blue and gold is always a win in my book, I'm not exactly crazy about this look. I like the colors but maybe there's just too much going on. Oh well, next time better :) What's your opinion?

Color Club Fracture Collection

Posted by Unknown on Tuesday, August 30, 2011

I recently received Color Club's Fracture collection in the mail! I have already shown you Tattered in Gold but it's nice to see the rest of the collection :D

This collection is Color Club's take on the whole shatter/crackle/fracture/texture trend. A nice colour selection available. Although it seems just about everyone has released a black, silver, white and a few have a gold. OPI has done a blue shatter similar to Splitting Image but this isn't a dupe. I also think Sally Hansen may have released a similar purple.

Smash Hit, Splitting Image, Clean Break, Kiss & Break-Up

Before I tried them, I was lucky enough to have a few words from the Wise about how I should apply the Fractures. Apparently he (boyfriend) thinks I apply it too thick and it covers most of the colour underneath. He was disappointed when I painted my nails purple and applied the gold fracture on top only to have the gold dominate.

Kiss & Break-Up, Clean Break, Splitting Image, Smash Hit

So I tried to apply them a little bit thinner here, I really like how they turned out. The white especially surprised me! I was a little bit iffy about it at first, but you know that old saying, "don't knock it 'till you try it".

I tried the Fracture polishes over a few shades before I tried them on myself. What I realised is that they don't fracture too well on the nail displays. But it's nice to get an idea what they'd look like over another shade.

Overall, I quite like this little collection. The formulas are nice, not too thick like my OPI Black Shatter tends to be. They fracture quite quickly and give a good coverage.

Ashley's Nails: Zoya Trixie & Nail Polish Paris Crackle 21

Posted by Unknown on Wednesday, August 17, 2011

This is 2 coats of Zoya Trixie with a coat of Nail Polish Paris Crackle #21 on top. Gorgeous!!

My sister, Ashley loves crackle polish over shimmers. She usually prefers creme polish over most everything else, but something about this combination appeals to her. I agree that it's my favorite way to wear crackles too. I know many of you are over the crackle trend but I love them for days when I need a fast fix for a chipped manicure. I just throw a coat of crackle on top and the problem is solved!

Ashley has the coolest jewelry!

Thanks for taking pictures and Ashley & thank you all for reading!

OPI & The Rugby World Cup

Posted by Unknown on Thursday, August 11, 2011

How cool is this?! OPI is putting a special set out just for the rugby world cup.

They are current colours, but I think it's nice that they did this. Still waiting on that New Zealand themed collection though... The rest of the world probably hasn't even heard of NZ though, so it probably wouldn't do too well in sales.

The colours: Black Shatter, Silver Shatter, Black Onyx and Birthday Babe.

I've supplied some swatches below and i'll add a few more once the pics are taken :)

OPI The "It" Color + black crackle

Posted by Unknown on Saturday, July 23, 2011

Hi everybody, recently I ordered some OPI polishes and one of those was OPI The "It" Color. I'm a huge OPI fan, with a weakness for their amazing glitter polishes but their cremes are wonderful as well, so lately I've been collecting more of those. I love their formula and the handy brush. The "It" Color had been a lemming for a while. I was searching for a pretty, warm and wearable yellow that would also apply nicely, which usually isn't the case with yellows. I had high hopes for The "It" Color, since I heard its application was pretty okay for a yellow and that it would cover in two coats. Too bad that's not the case with mine :-( The formula was alright, but I can't say the same for the application. No matter how careful I was with applying the polish, it kept leaving bald spots. After three coats it got less but the spots were still subtly visible here and there. So to hide those I added a black crackle from Barry M which made it better, yay :) I wish The "It" Color was as perfect as other OPI cremes, like Jade Is The New Black or Suzi Says Feng-Shui, but sadly it isn't. However I do love the warm, almost orange, yellow color. So I'll definitely give it another try soon and hopefully I can take all the bad words I said about it back then. What about you guys, have you found your perfect yellow yet?

Color Club Tattered in Gold

Posted by Unknown on Tuesday, July 5, 2011

Tattered in Gold is a pale gold crackle. There is silver shimmer mixed in with the gold so it keeps from being too warm or too cool toned. This is my new favourite crackle.

It dries matte which is a really nice finish with it being packed with foil glitter. I do have a top coat on however.

I'm wearing it over China Glaze Devotion here. The colours don't contrast too much with each other but they are a lethal pair! Each of them is seriously shiny and highly reflective. You don't want to stare at these two together for too long in the sun.

Color Club - Have A Bash

Posted by Unknown on Friday, July 1, 2011

Hello everybody :) Though I'm not a huge crackle fan, I do like it. Especially since nowadays there are plenty more colors to choose from, other than black. I really like the blue crackles that OPI has released, but because I still find them kind of pricey, I chose for a cheaper alternative; Color Club Have A Bash. I don't have many other crackles to compare it with, in fact I only have one next to Have A Bash (Barry M Nail Effects in black), but so far I'm extremely satisfied with it. The crackle finish and drying time is similar to the Barry M's, only Have A Bash has a smoother formula.
In this mani I used Have A Bash on top of 3 coats OPI Don't Know... Beets Me! and me likey, because I heart blue and pink together ;)
Thanks for stopping by!
