Essie Toms Barefoot in Blue

Posted by Unknown on Thursday, May 31, 2012

Hey everyone! Today I have a special polish from Essie called Barefoot in Blue. About a month ago, there was a contest with Essie and Toms to win this special edition polish and I was lucky enough to win one. Barefoot in Blue is a promotion for Toms campaign Go Barefoot. I've always wanted to try Toms brand shoes but never got the chance to because I heard their sizes are a little off, but I love the fact that if you buy one shoe, they give another pair to someone in need!

I did wear Barefoot in Blue on my toes and it was too pretty to not be on my nails as well.

Barefoot in Blue is a cornflower blue creme. 2 coats

I was quite surprised that I won this polish because it just showed up in my mail box! And I'm happy that I've won a bottle because this is such a gorgeous blue, and is perfect for Spring and Summer; not to mention this polish can't be purchased anywhere (correct me if I'm wrong)

Well that's all I have for today, I hope you guys enjoy the rest of your day!

Three Polishes from Essie Navigate Her Collection

Posted by Unknown on Tuesday, April 3, 2012

Today I have three polishes from the Essie Navigate Her Spring collection to share with you guys. Essie came out with 6 shades perfect for the Spring, but only three attracted my eyes. (Still on a budget!) Now I know in my past posts you can see that my middle nail is all crooked, and now in this post it's suddenly all straight. My nail didn't magically grow (although I wished it did). I swatched these before my nail broke but never got to post it!

Essie Navigate Her is a pale green creme. 2 coats. How unique is this green? It's not like the typical mint greens we see that's for Spring.

A Crewed Interest is a pastel peach creme. 3 coats. Very spring like color.

To Buy or Not To Buy is a pastel lavender creme. 3 coats. In the bottle you can see there's hints of aqua blue shimmer. But on the nail it's not quite visible. You have to have strong light and stare at it hard. The only reason I bought this one was because of the shimmer, so I was a bit disappointed that it didn't show well on the nail, since I have a lot of lavender polishes.

There were three other colors but I wasn't that interested in them. I really love Navigate Her, it's such a gorgeous green. The formula for these were pretty good. I only had troubles with A Crewed Interest. It seem to be thick and wouldn't go on smooth. It only look smoothed after a top coat. These are available wherever Essie polishes are sold for $8 a bottle. I got mine at Macys.

Essie Luxeffects A Cut Above

Posted by Unknown on Wednesday, March 14, 2012

Hello all! For those who liked my page on Facebook know that I broke two of my nails pretty bad, and can't swatch for awhile. It's been growing little by little, so for the next few posts it'll be on polishes I already swatched beforehand. And today I have Essie's Luxeffects A Cut Above to share with you guys. It was the only one I bought from the collection, as it was the only one that seem unique to me. All the other ones seem a bit dupeable, so I decided to pass on it and save some money!

I couldn't decide to do it over black or white, so I decided to do it on both on alternating fingers, and I really liked the outcome!

A Cut Above is a gorgeous pink glitter with big hex glitters and smaller glitters in a clear base. Here is one coat over black and white.

And here's a picture of the alternating colors for each finger!

The glitter applied easily over each nail, and in probably 3-4 coats, you'll probably get full coverage. I tend to only see this type of rosey pink glitter polishes. I really want to see a bright hot pink glitter. That will probably be gorgeous!

Well that's all I have for today. What do you guys think of A Cut Above?

Essie Mint Candy Apple

Posted by Unknown on Friday, March 9, 2012

Mint Candy Apple is a part of Essie's main line after being released for the holidays a few years ago.

The formula is ok, a little on the streaky side and needs 3 coats to even out.

It is much greener and slightly chalkier than China Glaze For Audrey.

Essie Go Overboard and Armed & Ready Swatches/Review

Posted by Unknown on Tuesday, March 6, 2012

Today I have two Essie's from the Go Overboard collection to share with you guys. I haven't done Essie reviews in awhile, it feels like I've missed them; in which I do, but I just wasn't impressed with their previous collections. I just didn't feel like splurging my wallet for colors I didn't really like. But! They finally did some colors that caught my attention!

Go Overboard is a gorgeous teal blue creme. 2 coats. It was pretty opaque in one coat, but I did two to even it out.

Armed & Ready is a stunning dark army green with golden shimmers, which makes it quite olive like. It reminded me a little of Estee Lauder's Metallic Sage. They are definitely not dupes, though very similar. Metallic Sage has a more olive green to it, while Armed & Ready has a dirty green look to it. Both with the same golden shimmer!

The formulas were pretty good. They both applied flawlessly with no problems at all. I was able to find these at Macy's for $8.00 a bottle. And I've been seeing them around Duane Reade and Sears for the same price.

Well, that's all for today. What do you guys think of these two?

Mermaid nails and a green Zebra!

Posted by Unknown on Monday, February 13, 2012

Morning!!! Well, Jack and I didn't go get our taxes done like planned. When we realized that H&R charged us $200 last year, we decided against it, lol. I just knew i could do them myself, and I did!!! Whoo hoo, $200 saved, and it only took me about an hour & a half. Oh, and I got to stay in my pj's, double win!

Anyways, on to the mani. I had done this one last weekend, when I was really in the mood to try something a little bit different. I stopped at Sally's to pick up some SV, and saw this beautiful sparkly glitter in little jars, and had to have it. Lets just say, it became a mess O_o

I started with 2 coats of Essie Absolutely Shore

Here is the pretty glitter :)

I then applied a coat of SV to my ring finger, and just dipped my nail in the jar. Man, it was like a glitter storm! Those pretty little pieces got EVERYWHERE! The look on Jack's face when he saw the couch was priceless. After about 2 min. I started to blow the excess glitter off, and lightly run my finger over my nail to smooth it all out. It's hard to tell from the pictures, but they did lay flat, and were soooooo sparkly! I really felt like it looked like a mermaids tail. I added another coat of SV over top just to seal it all in.

Now fast forward to the next day, and I took off the pretty scales, and decided to do a Zebra mani with the Essie, the white Konad polish and my Mash M57 plate.

Essie Neo-Whimsical

Posted by Unknown on Saturday, February 11, 2012

I finally found it! The perfect baby pink. It's not bubblegum, it's not lavender, but right smack bang in the middle. But there's a catch...

Neo-Whimsical has one of the worst formulas I have ever come across. Why do you do this Essie? Are you happy to release a polish this bad and have your name on it?

This is three coats here and in places you can see streaks and slight bald patches. I've tried a variety of different bases but nothing seems to help. I absolutely adore the colour and love it to pieces when I wear it, but it chips within the same day.

Does anyone have any suggestions? I've had Mod About You, Pandamonium Pink and a few others but most are too chalky or too yellow.

Semi Pink Wednesday!!

Posted by Unknown on Wednesday, February 8, 2012

Okay so it's not all pink, but hey, one of the polishes I used to stamp with was pink!!! Oh and what a pain in the A$$ this mani was to take pics of. It was so hard to get a non glare, color accurate picture. The glare would make it look like the hearts were smeared, but I promise they are not :)

For this I used Essie Power Clutch for my base, and the stamped the heart using both China Glaze Admire and Harmony. I used my Mash plate m46 for the hearts.

Oh I forgot, I did order a pink polish from Man Glaze, does that count for Pink Wednesday?????

Pretty and Polished 3 Golden Rules + Lynnderella Change

Posted by Unknown on Thursday, December 29, 2011

December 29, 2011

This is two coats of Pretty and Polished 3 Golden Rules and one coat of top coat. Isn't it beautiful?! Stay tuned... Tomorrow, I have a review of Pretty and Polished new collection, Sparkle Tattoo, which will be available on her Etsy shop January 1st!

Then I added one coat of Lynnderella Change with one coat of top coat. It looked fabulous in person, but the flare of the top coat kinda ruins it in the picture. So I fixed it by making it matte with one coat of Essie Matte About You! Now you can see how gorgeous it is in the photo without the nasty glare.

You can purchase Lynnderella polishes at LLAROWE or from Lynnderella's blog (when they are available).

Christmas scene

Posted by Unknown on Friday, December 9, 2011

Hi everyone :) For this post I have another Christmas mani. Since I haven't made any Halloween looks this fall, I'm planning on catching up some holiday manis with this year's Christmas ;-) Anyway, this week's been terribly busy, so I've been wearing Essie Your Hut Or Mine for the last three days. But today's weekend, yay! So I finally had time to update my mani. I added a Christmas tree for my accent nail, using tape. You know, if you think about it, a Christmas tree isn't that different from a lightning bolt! I mainly used tape triangles which I placed underneath each other on each side of the tree to create the zigzag lines. For a little sparkle I added silver glitter on top and a larger piece of glitter as my tree topper. On the rest of my nails I made "funky clouds", representing a snow scenery and later I added the "snow" with a dotting tool. In retrospect, I think the dots are a bit too much, so I doubt if I'm going to keep this mani longer than a day. But oh well, that means I can do my nails again tomorrow ^^ Thanks for reading!

Polishes I used:
Essie - Your Hut Or Mine
Essie - Lion Around

Orly - Pure Porcelain
H&M - Confetti Kisses

Essie Power Clutch

Posted by Unknown on Thursday, November 10, 2011

Today I have Essie Power Clutch to share from the Fall 2011 collection. It was the only polish I purchased from the collection since the other colors just didn't phase me. It is also the first drugstore label I bought from Essie! I find it easier because they have a sticker on the top of the brush handle so I can easily find the color in my stash. I hate having to take one out and look at the bottom to check if that's the color I want.

Power Clutch is a dark gray creme. 2 coats

We are seeing a lot of dark grays for the fall, and I'm liking it. Back then, you would never see any gray polishes are people's finger nails, but now I'm seeing it a lot and it's great that it's finally getting attention. I'm a fan of gray polishes, as you can tell.

The formula was pretty consistent, typical Essie polishes. They applied evenly with no streaks and no fuss. I was going to purchase the whole collection, but after seeing swatches, I see that most of the colors are dupeable.

That's all I have for today, did you guys purchase anything else from the Fall 2011 collection?
