Glitter Gal - Bronze Sparkle, Yellow Gold Sparkle, White Gold Sparkle

Posted by Unknown on Wednesday, January 4, 2012

Back again with more Glitter Gal swatches! I hope you aren't sick of them yet because after today we are just half way through. (And there will be more to come in a few weeks!)

Today I'm going to show you three shades from Glitter Gal that I had not seen until they were in my hands.
Three of the sparkle shades! Metallic ones.

Glitter Gal - Bronze Sparkle
This is a pretty bronze foil filled with holographic particles! It's cool how it is a holo-foil.

This polish dries completely smooth and it covers great in just 2 coats!

I really like this one! I only own one other bronze polish so it's pretty unique.
The sparkle polishes don't get as much attention as the 3D/Holos, but they really are great too! Some of the ones I'll show you another day are beyond amazing.

Glitter Gal - Yellow Gold Sparkle
This one is a similar formula to the last but the holo doesn't show up quite as well. 2 coats.

This one reminds me a little of Milani - 3D but this is a lighter gold and has no big glitter. The gold tone of this one is more flattering than the Milani.

This one is pretty. If you don't have a gold foil already, why not get one that is holo?

Glitter Gal - White Gold SparkleI love this one! Really sparkly.

Look at all that holo sparklin'. This one has the most holographic particles out of all three metallic sparkles and this one is my favorite!
It again covers well in two coats and the finish is totally smooth.

If you pick up any of these metallic sparkle shades from Glitter Gal, my pick would be White Gold Sparkle!

Three days of Glitter Gal down, three to go! I might break it up with a different post tomorrow. We'll see!

China Glaze Crackle Metals Collection

Posted by Unknown on Tuesday, November 1, 2011

Today I finally have China Glaze's Crackle Metals to share with you. I was excited to hear about metallic crackles so I was waiting to get my hands on these. And I must say I'm a tad bit disappointed about this collection.

Not to mention that we have a ton of brands making these crackle/shatter effects, there's a whole range of colors as well. I'm starting to get a little sick of the shatter effects, but nothing beats the original black color shatters. It just makes some polishes look better!

Anyways, let's have a look shall we?

Cracked Medallion is a bronze/copper crackle

Platnium Pieces is a metallic silver crackle

Tarnished Gold is a metallic gold crackle. Quite similar to OPI's Gold Shatter, just this one didn't shatter as much as I hoped it would. Maybe it was because I applied too thick.

Oxidized Aqua is a metallic aqua crackle. I kind of like the weird combo for this one.

Haute Metal is a metallic pink crackle

Latticed Lilac is a metallic lilac crackle

I played around with the base colors and decided to not just do them all in black base but with variety of colors. My favorite combos were Crackled Medallion over a dusty teal base and Oxidized Aqua over a red base. I wasn't too fond of the other crackles because they didn't shatter as great nor were they as opaque as I thought it would be. And when I applied a thicker coat, it didn't shatter as much as I wanted it to be. So was it worth the money for me? No. I only liked two out of the six so that means something.

Are we sick of the crackle/shatter effects yet? Or do we want to see more colors? I'm looking/waiting for a nice green shimmer crackle and a purple creme crackle. Then I'm set!

What do you think of these crackles?

OPI Glam Slam! US Swatches & Review

Posted by Unknown on Thursday, September 1, 2011

Hey guys! Today I have OPI's Glam Slam! US from Serena Williams. This set consists of two shimmery polishes.

Pros & Bronze is a bronze with brown and golden flecks. 3 coats. It was a bit sheer with just one coat, but opaque with three coats.

Love is a Racket is a red shimmer. 2 coats

Here is one layer of Pros & Bronze over Love is a Racket. It gives the red a shimmering bronze glow. Quite interesting.

The formula for these were excellent. I didn't experience any issues with them. They applied on perfectly with no troubles whatsoever. As you know, I'm not a fan of reds, therefore Love is a Racket didn't really wow me. I do like Pros & Bronze though. I love how shiny and shimmery it is.

Sorry that I have to make this post short, but I gotta run :D

What did you guys think about this set?

(These were sent to me for review)

China Glaze Metro Collection - swatches and review

Posted by Unknown on Thursday, July 21, 2011

Hi guys! I have an exciting post for you today.

A few months ago, I posted a press photo for the China Glaze Metro Collection. And since then, I have been getting so many hits from Google searches for the collection, it is unreal!
"China Glaze Metro swatches" is the third most popular search term that leads people to my blog.
Similar phrases are in 7th and 8th place, as well.

So finally, dear readers and Google-searchers, I have some Metro Collection swatches to show you.

Yesterday I got a text from Kayla Shevonne which said she had found the Metro Collection at a professional beauty supply, and she wanted to know if I wanted any.
Immediately I said "Skyscraper!"
Kayla knows me too well, and mentioned that there was a mini set that included Skyscraper. Sold.

Skyscraper, CG in the City, Urban-Night, Midtown Magic.

Let me talk about minis again. I love China Glaze minis.
Regular China Glaze polishes are 14mL and the minis are 9.2mL.

Meaning, the mini bottle is 2/3 of a regular bottle.
If you are like me, you rarely use an entire bottle of polish. So these minis are awesome! You can get a lot of use out of one of these.
A lot of polish brands are this size regularly! Brands like Sally Hansen, Essence, and many others are 9-11mL.
What's even better is this set of minis was $8.95 at Kayla's professional price. Had I bought the full size bottle of Skyscraper at Sally's or Chatter's it would have cost $5.99 or $6.99. So I'm really pleased to be able to have 4 colors for near the same price.

Let's get started!

This is Midtown Magic. China Glaze describes it as a burgundy base with flecks of gold shimmer, but on the nail it is more of a brown with gold, green and bronze shimmer.
The base is burgundy, which is visible on the first coat:

But the second coat really makes it very brown.

The true color was a bit hard to capture so I've included lots of pictures of this one!

If you know me, this is not a very "me" color, so I've decided to pass this on to my friend Laurie! You might remember her guest post. Laurie likes brown, vampy colors.

This is Urban-Night. Beautiful rich purple creme. The difference in one coat and two coats is crazy:

Such a difference!
This polish is gorgeous.

And super shiny. No topcoat in these photos!

This is similar to another polish in my stash - Sally Hansen Complete Salon Manicure in Trouble Maker.

Urban-Night does dry a bit darker on the nail than in the bottle, so there is a difference in these polishes, but not a major one.

CG in the City. This is a strange glitter, it gives off a purple look in the bottle but on the nail that sort of gets lost.

See the purple? China Glaze says it is dusty purple, bronze and silver. The silver is a very dark silver and it comes off sort of black.

This is 3 coats and you can still see my nail underneath. It sort of looks dirty on its own, I don't really like it.
But... Over Urban-Night...

Holy gorgeous!

I love it. So much.

This combo makes me so thankful that Kayla knew how much I like minis! Haha!

Last up is Skyscraper. The one I wanted most, and for good reason.

It's a blue jelly packed with silver and blue glitter. This is 3 coats.

It is so sparkly and pretty.

I'm wearing this as a full mani now.

Overall, these polishes are awesome.
The formula is great on all the polishes, especially Urban-Night, and I'm willing to bet it is the same for the other 8 that I don't have.
Midtown Magic is not a winner for me personally, but the formula is great.
CG in the City is "meh" on its own - but layered? Awesome.
Skyscraper is just so pretty and unlike anything else I own.

I hope you guys enjoyed these swatches! These polishes should be popping up everywhere in the next few weeks and into August. :)

OPI Smok’n in Havana & Hoo Doo Voo Doo

Posted by Unknown on Saturday, April 2, 2011

I know it's been awhile since I've last updated, and I apologize for that. Ever since I started working more days, I feel like I no longer has a life. All I do is wake up, get ready for work, go to work, come home, shower, eat dinner, and by then I'm exhausted and ready for bed. And this is not even a full time job! I've been trying to find another job that's more of my field but it's so hard because not much people are hiring entry level positions.

Ok enough babbling, so today I have OPI's Smok'n in Havana and OPI Hoo Doo Voo Doo to show you. Does anyone know if these are from old collections or are they new? I just saw these on transdesign.com so I decided to buy them and try them.

Smok'n in Havana is a deep red with golden shimmers. 2 coats. This actually turned out very nice. It's not a true red, the gold shimmers make it look a little coppery and bronzey.

Hoo Doo Voo Doo is a deep fuchsia pink creme. 2 coats. It was very opaque. Not all that unique but I kind of like the name :)

And of course OPI formulas are excellent in it's own ways. And I just love the fact that OPI have wide brush, makes application so much easier.

So that is all I have for today. So I wanted to mention about the long anticipated giveaway that I was planning to have. Well it's almost ready, I just have to take pictures and write up on it. It is going to be a very, very big giveaway. So stay tune!

NARS Vintage Nail Polish Collection

Posted by Unknown on Wednesday, December 22, 2010

Just 3 days left until Christmas! Eep! So excited :) I have a few posts set up ready to be posted for the rest of this month. I just have to write a review and that's it. I'm so close with emptying my never tried stash. By January I should be finish with everything hopefully. At least now I am up to date (somewhat) with the newer collections.

Today I have four of the NARS Vintage Collection. I did not buy metal jacket because.. actually I don't even know why I didn't buy it. Probably because it didn't amuse me. Although people are raving about it, maybe I'll try it on at a Sephora store and see if I'll like it or something.

So the most infamous polish NARS Zulu is finally re-released and fulfilled us nail fanatics dream (not quite all of it, but at least its a start) I've been dying for NARS Zulu so I am glad they re-released it, although in comparison to the old one, it's not as jelly or whatsoever. That didn't really bother me. Here's the swatches:

Zulu - blackened green jelly. 3 coats

Midnight Express - dark rich navy blue jelly. 3 coats

Mash - a deep olive shimmer. 2 coats. I was excited about this one too :)

King Kong - a medium brown bronze shimmer. 2 coats. I thought King Kong was dark brown? Donkey Kong is this shade.. lol

So I loved all four of these. Can't pick favorites because that's a toughie. I love the jellies the most because I have an obsession for jelly polishes. Formula was super good. I had no problems. A lot of people complain about some streaks or visible brush strokes for King Kong but I didn't have any problem with that.

Great job NARS!

That's all I have for today!

Don't forget to enter my Revlon Perplex giveaway ending in 4 days! Details at the left sidebar.
