Wally Gets His Nails Did

Posted by Unknown on Sunday, May 8, 2011

I have these things called "Soft Paws" that you can get from multiple places. They make them both for dogs and cats. I've seen them at PetSmart and also on the internet of course. (There are multiple manufacturers that make virtually this same product) They are soft plastic caps that you can use a special nail glue to stick them over your pet's claws. It helps prevent any damage to your hardwood floors or furniture if they're a scratcher. I don't normally keep them on Wally because he's pretty good about not scratching up my things. I realized I still had some left over from a long time ago, and I thought it would be cute to decorate them and have him wear them. :)

I bought them in solid lime green. Then added blue polka dots! I used Zoya Breezi.
(I figure if Zoya is vegan and it's safe for me, it's probably not going to harm him. Besides, I've heard of ppl painting their dog or cats nails before.)
I just put them on a toothpick like this. It fits snug in the tip.
Then I used this stuff. Sticky Tacky Rubbery stuff. I remember old elementary teachers using it to hang up posters. I found it at Hobby Lobby for $1.99.
(My nails are China Glaze Pink Voltage Neon)
I tore off a large enough chunk to then stick my finished toothpicks in.
Let them thoroughly dry in an upright position.
Use the instructions on the package to place them on your pets nails.
Wally hates being held down for it, he lets me do one paw before he loses patience with me and runs away. Lol. Then I track him down later and fool him into letting me pick him up again. *insert evil laugh here*
Aren't they the sweetest thing? And so manly! At least that's what I'm telling him. Lol
I didn't bother to use a topcoat to "seal in my art." I mean, come on, it's a cat's nails! He doesn't care about things like wear time.
