I love these cute guys growing up! The newer version (where they have skinnier bodies and larger heads?) just isn't the same. The new Care Bears just look freaky.... So I mimicked the older ones :)
These pictures showing the Care Bears themselves are off of a coloring/activity pad I bought at the dollar store. I bought some reference material ;)
For this manicure, I heavily used my 2 way nail art pens that I spoke about in this post. I used those for the yellow outline, purple outline, and the white details... In the end I wish the yellow had stood out more. They bottle contrast was good enough, but on the nail... the yellow outline seemed to be lighter. (I used China Glaze Lemon Fizz as the background color) As far as function? They worked pretty well at what I needed them to do. I find that I need a little more coordination when using these pens compared to just a brush. That may sound crazy, but hear me out.
With the 2 way nail art pen, you have to squeeze the chamber with enough steady pressure to get an even line of polish as you're moving it along the line you wish to create. With the brush I can just drag it along and focus on my line being correct rather than also worrying about squeezing force. (I hope that makes sense) In the end, I will definitely use these pens in my nail art! But not for things like outlining.
I have some step-by-step pictures if you're interested, just leave a comment. I didn't post them because I skipped a chunk and they're not as easy to follow as I normally try to be.
