Leslie Goes to the Races

My Cult Nails Day at the Races collection came in the mail today! Hooray! These were the polishes I won in Maria's Lady Gaga Nail Art Contest a while back. I was really happy to have won her contest because I had my eyes on a few of these that I just had to have. You can shop Cult Nails website here.

I'll spare you the intense description of each color, because frankly I stink at that sort of thing. I will let you know if I had any issues though.

Cruisin' Nude:
This was one I intended to buy if I hadn't won the contest, it's such a lovely nude with pink shimmer. The shimmer didn't show up much on the nail for me :( It's also not quite a perfect nude for me, but that won't keep me from wearing it.
This was opaque in 2 coats, no issues with application.

Devious Nature:
I was very excited about this shade and it didn't disappoint. Jelly-ish finish, 2 coats, no problems.

Let me Fly:
Another I wanted to get my hands on. It is a good bit darker in real life than I thought from the promo pics. The website makes it appear much brighter. It's still a great color, just not what I originally thought.
2 coats, no problems.

Captivated:

I didn't like this at first, but I have to admit that it is unique. After trying it on my nails, I can say that I like it and will use it from time to time. In the pics: Index finger is Essie Carousel Coral with 2 coats of Captivated over it. Middle and Ring finger are 3 coats of Captivated by itself, and Pinky is just 2 coats of Captivated by itself. I much prefer it with a solid coral underneath. And the glitter seems to glow when in the sunlight!

Always Winning:
This is an ugly polish. Some might say it's ugly-pretty, and others might just downright hate it. I thought I would not like it, but after layering over other colors, I can see the appeal now. And holographic glitter? You can't go wrong.
In the pic I layered as follows:
Thumb - Orly Prince Charming + 1 coat Always Winning
Index - 4 coats of Always Winning by itself
Middle- Essie Sew Psyched + 1 coat Always Winning
Ring - Essence In the Jungle + 1 coat Always Winning
Pinky - Orly Enchanted Forest + 1 coat Always Winning

Where was this polish when I needed something for the Dragon Boat Races? It would have been perfect! The holographic and gold glitter stand out much more on the nail in real life. It's there, trust me! No problems with application, it's a bit thin but that's the point of a layering polish.

So what do you think? I can't wait to see what comes next from Maria. :)
